EASTERN ARABIAN HORSE SHOW AND EAST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS RULES AND REGULATIONS

Refer also to the “General Rules and Information for All Shows” at the beginning of this book.

1. ARRIVAL-DEPARTURE-LAYOVER: Stalls are available 8:00am on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. An early arrival fee of $30/day will be charged to all horses arriving prior to the above time. The early arrival fee is payable to EAHS. Stalls must be vacated by 10:00pm, Sunday, August 7, 2016. Sunday night layovers must be arranged with VHC at a cost of $15/horse plus prorated security. The layover fee is paid directly to the VHC.

2. CANADIAN EXHIBITORS: Must pay with USA cash, money orders or bank drafts from a US bank, or Visa/Mastercard. Canadian checks drawn as US dollars ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. If such a check is submitted with entries or used at the show, a fee of $50 will be charged.

3. CHECKING OUT: Anyone failing to check out of the show with the show secretary will be assessed a $25 fee and billed accordingly. Please make every effort to check out with the show secretary by NOON, Sunday, August 7, 2016. The Office closes one hour after the show ends.

4. EASTERN ARABIAN HORSE SHOW: is a qualifying show competition for the East Coast Championships and the Region 15 Championship Horse Show. East Coast Championships classes DO NOT qualify you for the Region 15 Championship Horse Show.

5. ENTRIES: Entries must be postmarked no later than July 12, 2016. Post entries will be accepted at fees specified on the Fee Schedule. Post entries must pay the per horse fee. All entries postmarked after July 12, 2016, will be considered post entries and post entry fees will be assessed. Post entries are not permitted for dressage or sport horse in hand for either show. Time slots may be available after the entries have been processed. A check or a completed EAHS/ECC credit card form must accompany the entry blank or entries will not be accepted. PLEASE NOTE: EXHIBITORS SHARING STALLS, HORSES, ENTRY FEES, ETC. CANNOT SEND PARTIAL PAYMENT ON THE ENTRY BLANK. FULL PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY EACH ENTRY BLANK. All fees will be billed to the owner of record. If you are sharing horses, the office will not accept partial payment.

6. GATE CALLS: Entries will be allowed a maximum of two (2) minutes to enter the ring from the time the first horse enters the ring. If the exhibitor feels a conflict could occur, he must choose the class most desired. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to know the rules of the show and to become familiar with the schedule so that he may choose classes which will not conflict with each other.

7. INCOMPLETE ENTRIES: A $25 Incomplete Entry Fee will be assessed per owner if mandatory information is not included with the entries to include, but not limited to: copy of registration papers, copy of USEF, AHA, and USDF membership cards for every exhibitor, owner, coach & trainer, and amateur certification (if applicable), legible copy of negative Coggins for each horse dated within 12 months of the show, proof of flu/rhino vaccinations within 6 months of the show, all signatures, and complete fees. Pictures or snapshots of the above items will not be accepted.

8. NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS or DECLINED CREDIT CARDS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason will incur a $50 charge per incident. Declined credit cards will incur a $50 fee. If you use a debit card and have a daily limit and the card is declined because the amount charged exceeds your daily limit, a $50 fee will be charged. 9. NUMBER OF HORSES IN A CLASS: Five or more entries constitute a class. Management reserves the right to cancel classes with less than five entries.

10. PENALTY POLICY: In the event the Eastern Arabian Horse Show, the East Coast Championships, the management, or the officials are fined by any organization owing to an exhibitor’s infraction of the rules or requirements, said fine will be charged to the exhibitor plus a 10% penalty fee.

11. POST ENTRIES: EAHS post entries can be made up to the CLOSE OF THE SESSION PREVIOUS to the one in which the class is listed. Post entries for dressage and sport horse in hand are not permitted unless time slots are available. East Coast Championship post entries must be made by 5:00pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2016 unless qualifying for the first time at EAHS. If qualifying for the first time at EAHS, entries for East Coast Championships must be made by the close of the last session on Thursday, August 4, 2016. When no entry is made and an exhibitor rides through the gate, an additional $100 will be charged.

12. REFUNDS: If you wish to cancel entries before July 12, 2016, please contact the Show Secretary and all fees will be refunded. NO REFUNDS will be made after this time without a veterinarian slip. Veterinarian slip refunds can only be honored if the horse is not shown at all. Refunds will be at the discretion of the show committee.

13. REFUSAL OF ENTRIES: The show committee reserves the right to decline to receive any entry and to return any entry fee and/or stall fees before or during the show without being liable for compensation.

14. SCRATCHES: The Show Office must be notified if an exhibitor does not intend to show in a class for which they are entered. In the case where a horse has been entered and not shown, class fees will be forfeited.

15. WITHDRAWAL OF ENTRIES: No exhibitor may withdraw his horses from the show after it has commenced or remove them from the show grounds without permission of the show secretary. An exhibitor doing so without permission will be reported to USEF. If an exhibitor voluntarily removes a horse from the ring without permission of the judge, the exhibitor and horses of the exhibitor shall be disqualified from future classes at this show by the show committee and shall forfeit all prizes and entry fees for the entire show.

16. DISPUTES: Any disputes arising out of the Eastern Arabian Horse Show or East Coast Championships or any contingencies not covered by the aforementioned rules shall be arbitrated by the EAHS Executive Committee whose decision shall be final. Management reserves the right to change or alter the licensed officials listed without prior notice before or during the show.

The current USEF/USDF tests will be used. No horse may be ridden more than once in a classes. Classes will be held in the

dressage rings up on the hill. RIDES ARE LIMITED TO 100 and will be on a first come serve basis by post mark date of the

dressage scheduling card. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Classes may not run in order. Ride times will be posted on www.EastCoastShow.com

The Egyptian Arabian has developed into more than

just a beautiful horse to be shown on the line. Modern

Straight Egyptians have proven themselves capable

performance partners. To showcase their ability we are

sponsoring the Egyptian Performance Challenge.

There will be two divisions awarded, Straight

Egyptian and Egyptian related (sire or dam must

be Straight Egyptian). Prizes will be split

amongst the top three horses in each division, if

less than three horses, awards will be split by

those remaining. Points may be accumulated at

both the Eastern Arabian pre-show and the East

Coast Championships Show.

There is no cost to enroll, enrollment forms and additional information will be available at the

show office or you may see Angela White with Roze Arabians. Only under saddle classes will

be counted for points.

EAST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS Tentative ScheduleBreaks to be Announced

In honor of the late Sue Eves, a perpetual trophy has been established in her honor to be awarded to the Purebred Arabian earning the most points in Sport Horse In Hand and Sport Horse Under Saddle classes, combined, at the East Coast Championships.

Sue Eves bred Purebred Arabian horses for fifty years and as she said “had sport horses before there were sport horses.” S u e t i r e l e s s l y championed for the versatile Arabian and felt

that the sport horse divisions were the epitome of this. Her breeding program has produced several National Champions and countless Regional Champions.

No vehicles allowed in the barns. Four-wheelers and ATVs are not allowed on VHC grounds. Non-powered scooters, bicycles, skateboards, inline skates, and heelers are not permitted in the coliseum or the interior of the barns.

3 Pets: All pets must have current innoculations for rabies as prescribed by state of residency. You must clean up after your pet. No loose dogs allowed anywhere on the premises. All dogs that are not crated must have a leash with a person holding the leash. Loose dogs will incur a $100 fine. Absolutely no dogs allowed in the coliseum unless crated. Absolutely no dogs in the Mezzanine (2nd floor of the coliseum). This is the law.

4 No trash or sharps in the manure pits or stalls. Sharps should be placed in the red boxes in the barns and not in trash cans.5 No lunging in posted rings. Wiley, Northern, and B rings NEVER.6 No overnight horse may be stabled in trailers, portable stalls, or tied out.7 Horses are absolutely not allowed to be ponied behind moving vehicles.8 Any loss, theft, accident, or disturbance should be reported to VCH Security. Lost and Found is located in the Security Office.9 No firearms or fireworks are permitted. No open fires10 The VHC shall be held harmless against all claims, costs, losses or liability of every nature and kind asserted against or incurred by campers arising or

resulting in any respect from camper's occupancy and use of premises, and or visitor and visitor's use of premises. 11 Stabling: stall doors are provided. Permanent stabling for 720 horses. I AGREE to indemnify (that is, to pay any losses, damages, or costs incurred by) the Federation and the Competition and to hold them harmless with respect to claims for Harm to me or my horse, and for claims made by others for any Harm caused by me or my horse while at the Competition. I have read the Federation Rules about protective equipment, including GR801 and, if applicable, EV114, and I understand that I am entitled to wear protective equipment without penalty, and I acknowledge that the Federation strongly encourages me to do so while WARNING that no protective equipment can guard against all injuries. AHA ASSUMPTION OF RISK, RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION This document waives very important legal rights. Read it carefully before signing.

I AGREE for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns to release AHA, the Competition, the facilities leased by the Competition and the owner(s) of the facilities, and all of their respective officers, officials, directors, employees, agents, personnel, volunteers, affiliated organizations and insurers (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all claims for damage, loss, or injury to myself, other persons, horses or other property belonging to me to the fullest extent permitted by law that arises out of or relates in any way to the Competition and my participation in the Competition INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES, LOSS, OR INJURY RESULTING FROM ANY ACTS, FAILURE TO ACT, NEGLIGENCE OR NEGLECT OF OTHER ENTRANTS, THE RELEASED PARTIES, THEIR CONTRACTORS OR INVITEES, as well as for theft, vandalism, fire, other casualty damage, or damage arising out of any defects in the premises.

Should a hearing be requested, I agree to accept AS FINAL the decision of the particular hearing body. I agree to release, hold harmless and not to sue AHA, the Competition Sponsor, their officers, directors, employees, volunteers or members concerning any decision of AHA, the Competition, its Show Commission, Show Officials or any hearing body that relates to my qualifications or my horse(s)’ qualifications to enter the Competition or any results of the Competition.

I AGREE that AHA has the sole right to control, sell, supervise or give away (or assign to others the right to do so) the exclusive rights to broadcast, televise, reproduce, transmit and disseminate all or part of this event, and I agree that AHA may use or assign, in any way AHA sees fit, photographs, films, videos, audios, cablecasts, or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the Competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the Competition or AHA. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way which implies endorsement of any company, product, product category or service. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation.

By signing below as a parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor, I consent to the child’s participation and agree to all of the above provisions, and further agree to assume all of the obligations of this AHA Assumption of Risk, Release and Indemnification personally and on behalf of the child.

Sharps Containers - Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. Sharps containers are located in each barn.

Membership Statement

Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
