Brent Bravo – Surface and Subsurface Hazards (Update 02-05-2012) Please be advised that we are currently constructing a floating barrier within the 500m zone of the Brent Bravo. This comprises a series of floating buoys which are moored through a hybrid catenary (rope and chain) system to 8 x 12t Stevpris anchors. The 6 large orange surface buoys have a yellow flash every 5 seconds and are fitted with radar reflectors.

Although everything is inside the 500m zone, it must be highlighted to the fishing community operating in the area that the anchors are close to the outer perimeter of the 500m zone and as such could be hazardous to fishing vessels who tow their gear right on the edge. Therefore vessels operating in the area must account for any forces which may cause their gear to go inside the 500m zone - even by just a few meters. The support vessel ‘Ocean Spey’ is stationed at Brents and will be on hand to offer fishing vessels advice regarding their proximity to the safety zone and the above mentioned hazards.

Statfjord Field – Concrete mats Block 211/24 (New 21-06-2012) Installation of concrete mats and benchmark on 20 small areas, approx. 3m x 6m. The benchmark will serve as a reference observational base for gravity and subsidence measurements. The benchmark will be built into the mats. The benchmark will be in place as long as the monitoring goes on – until the end of production from the Statfjord field. They can be safely over trawled and are recoverable. The vessel M/V Edda Freya will be used. Earliest Start date 10th July 2012 until 30th September 2012.

When the benchmarks have been installed, relative gravity and depth will be measured on the top surfaces. This will be monitored every approximately 2-3 years as long as the Statfjord field produces oil and gas.

Andrew Area Development – Installation of Pipeline Bundles (Update 18-06-2012) BP Exploration Operating Company wish to advise that as part of the Andrew Area Development (AAD) Project, four pipeline bundles have now been installed from the Andrew Platform to the Kinnoull drill centre. Appurtenance removal for all four bundles will be carried out by DSV in July 2012.

The 44” caisson riser was towed to the site by two tow tugs, lowered to a wet store area, then installed on the Andrew jacket by DSV. This scope commenced with clamp installation in mid March and final caisson installation completed early April 2012.

The date for installation of the umbilical is currently envisaged to be August 2012 with trenching planned for completion in August 2012. Tie-in spool installation between the four bundles by DSV is envisaged to commence in July 2012.

Further activities to be completed in 2012 and 2013 include riser umbilical installation, Andrew and Kinnoull tie-ins and pre-commissioning.

Notice To Fishermen Construction of Pipeline – Don Val ley (Sheff ie ld) into the North Sea The National Grid is helping to develop solutions to reduce the carbon emissions from power stations and industrial plants in the Yorkshire and Humber region. As part of this they are proposing to construct a pipeline for transporting carbon dioxide to support the development of carbon capture, transportation and storage (CCS) technology in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The project would involve transporting carbon dioxide, captured from the proposed Don Valley Power Project at Stainforth, via a pipeline to a permanent storage site beneath the North Sea. The National Grid are launching the next stage of public consultation for local communities to find out more and give us their views. These will take place during June 2012 and are in seven locations throughout the proposed pipeline route.
