Prrooff RRaannjjiitt SSiinngghh son of Sardar Alam Singh was born on 19th November, 1937in village Khari Dharamsal, district Poonch. He had two brothers and one sister. His father was a Ration Dealer.

He completed his MA B.Ed and joined service at Srinagar as Professor in 1961. Hegot married to Sardarni Amrit Kour daughter of Giani Udham Singh resident of Delhi,a great writer. His wife was also a teacher in Kendriya Vidhaley who retired asPrincipal. He was blessed with two daughters and one son. His elder daughter is married to an army officer who retired as Major General and second daughter is married to a Colonel. His son is in Canada.He was paragon of patience and symbol of simplicity and humbleness. He was geniusacademician, most popular and revered among students. He served at different stations and finally retired as Principal of a college at Jammu.He was a thorough gentleman and human being par excellence. He was most reverential to the elders and loving to the youngers. He was very helpful to the poor andneedy people and donated liberally for social and religious causes. He was greatlyattached to Gurbani and strictly followed the teachings of Sikh Gurus.He breathed his last on 11th December, 2018 due to cardiac arrest. He is survived byhis wife, one son, two daughters and grand children. May God give eternal peace to thedeparted soul and courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss. Prof Ranjit Singh
