Rachel CarnesReporter Every two years the choir students have the chance to go on a trip. This year, on April 23-25, the trip was to Saint Louis, Missouri. During the choir trip the students sang at a Cathedral, a school, and a church. “We had to sing before we could have fun and go places,” said Paige Wagner, ‘10. The students had some fun at Six Flags, the Riverboat, Botanical Garden, and the Saint Louis Zoo. Unfortunately, the fun was cut short due to the heavy rain fall. “We went to a lot of fun places, until the rain came,” said Paige Wagner, “I was completely soaked in two minutes. After we got back to the hotel we had a warning for a tornado too.” Luckily, the warning didn’t last long. Mr. Younquist let the students go to the mall or stay at the hotel. Most decided togo to the mall and hangout with their friends. “I went to the mall,” said Haley Ross, ‘12, with McKenna [Lebsack], Jessica [Guerra] and Chloe [Klienschmidt, all ‘12.] I bought a lot of shirts from Hot Topic and it was awesome because there mall was huge and full of rich people.”

With graduation day quickly approach-ing, three seniors have to get ready to speak in front of the class of 2010, along with the crowd that is brought in. “Advanced Composition and AP English, had a chance to submit their senior speech. To possibly get chosen to read on graduation day.” said Amy Adrian, English. Once the classes where done, Adrian, read aloud the speeches, anonymously to her classes. Students then voted on their favor-ites. Once the top speeches were picked, Adrian let a volunteer of teachers pick their top three. It just so happens that Paige Diele-man, Janelle Erwin, and Tyler Lynch, all ‘10, were the three chosen.

“I also put out an announcement, so seniors who did not or could not take one of those classes had an equal opportunity to be able to submit a speech,” said Adrian. Congratulations to the three graduation speakers. When the day comes it will be an afternoon the class of 2010 will never forget. Hopefully, their speeches will leave us with a happy note. Wrapping up our school life in three speeches - we will all be left full of joy, relief, and most likely tears. Graduating se-niors will leave that day with a high school diploma in hand. While the world will receive a new adult ready to make a difference. “It is gunna be hot, I’m ready. [I included]What I think our class should take with us, when we leave this town behind.” Lynch

Walk to support cancerRebecca DunbarReporter Relay for life is an event that happens every summer. It is for the whole community and anyone can participate. 100 Grand in 2010 is the theme for this years Relay. This year the relay is on June 19th from noon to mid-night at Central Park in Washington, Iowa. During noon and midnight there are people walking around the square constantly. There are different groups you can be a part of. The sponsors of relay have different laps. There is a Survivor lap, where all of the people who have had cancer and are still living get to make a lap around the square. Each group is in charge of a lap, during their lap they can hand out prizes if they want. Some groups hand out bubbles or pencils. There is a dessert auction every year that raises money for the Relay for Life. During the twelve hours of Relay there will be en-tertainment. The entertainment will include Starbolt, Sheltered Reality, the Washington Municipal Band, and Ron Renoux and Mar-garet Renoux Leonard. The Star Spangled Banner is going to be sung by Nicole Miller. Some of the speakers this year are Carole Martin, Evelyn Lukavsky, Christina Waters, and Sherry Renoux.
