“Beating Mt. Pleasant was a huge confidence booster for the rest of the season.” -Kodey Salow, ‘10.
On Friday night October 2, 2009, the Demons were play-ing their homecoming game at Case Field were they defeated the Mount Pleasant Panthers 21-20 by a late field goal. “ All I remember asking is if I can take a step back and I didn’t now what I was getting myself into,” said Parker Turner, ‘12. Little did the Demon footballers know, that win would seal their place in Washingtons first play-off berth in since 2006. The De-mon’s showed tremendous work ethic and a refusal to lose, which fueled their effort every game. The Demons played as a team, for one another, and not for per-sonal gain.
Not only were the Demons playing away for this game, but they were playing against their biggest rival of all year. And with the help of the student section, the Demons came out vic-torious over the Golden Hawks. “ It was crazy and the student section was at its finest,” said Nick Kleese, ‘10. A loud student section and bois-terous crowd is often times the largest motivating factor for an ath-lete. Nobody wants to lose in front of their friends or family, and that can be all that it takes to make the athlete put just that much more effort into the task at hand, which often times could be the deciding factor in a game.
“It was awesome to beat them our Senior Year be-cause now we have brag-ging rights for forever.”-Chris Graf, ‘10.
“Our record is 148-13 the last three years,” Joe Harris,’11 said.

After making three solid appearances at state in as many years, the Washington Demon Girls Golf Team has made quite a name for themselves. Two state championships and a sev-enth place finish has risen expectations for them year in and year out. Despite losing several talented players over the past two years, the Demons are confident that they can still be a successful team when playing their smartest golf. “One of our goals this year is to win conference by beating Mt. Pleasant and at least qualify for regionals,” commented the team’s lone Senior Molly Donnolly. With only one Senior and three Juniors, the underclassmen need to play solid golf in order for the team to achieve its goals.
