About GITAM University

About GIMSR Multi-specialty Hospital:
The University, as part of its social responsibility, has established a state of the art multi specialty hospital to provide quality health care facilities to the people at affordable cost. The hospital is designed for a patient friendly ambience to accommodate 850beds with 20 operation theatres and over 100 ICU beds. In a short span of time, the medical facilities are extensively being used by the public. The Hospital is within the reach of both the urban and rural population and known for its patient care. It is well connected with public transport facility. Presently, the following specialties like Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Dermatology, ENT, Radiology, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Physiotherapy are offered. The out-patient departments are run by qualified specialists. The emergency medicine and trauma departments are working round the clock. It is adequately equipped to deal with all emergencies. About GITAM School of Nursing (GSN):
The School of Nursing is located in the main campus at GITAM University, Visakhapatnam. The school of Nursing, one of the constituent institutions of GITAM has been established to provide quality education in nursing to meet the ever growing need for qualified nurses in the country. The B.Sc. Nursing program is being offered by GSN with permission from the Indian Nursing Council, UGC, MHRD, Govt. of India & Andhra Pradesh Nurses Midwives, Auxiliary Nurse-Midwives and Health Visitors Council, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh from the academic year 2016-17. The school is offering the nursing program through need based curriculum and continuous assessment. The school is endowed with various state-of-the-art nursing laboratories and is equipped with digital library, e-class rooms, air conditioned auditorium and Wi-fi facility. The school provides clinical learning to the students at the GITAM Multi-Specialty Hospital. Eligibility
Only female candidates are eligible.
Candidates should have attained or shall attain the age of 17 (seventeen) years
as on 31st December, 2016.
Minimum education:10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core /
English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under
AISSCE / CBSE / ICSE / SSCE / HSCE or other equivalent Board.
Student shall be medically fit.
Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National
Institute of Open School with 45% marks.

Application Procedure
i. Prospectus: The candidate is required to go through the Prospectus available
online carefully before filling of the online application form. Ensure that no
column is left blank.
ii. Application Form: A candidate seeking admission through GITAM Nursing
Admission Test (GNAT) - 2016 is required to fill up the Application Form
available online at www.gitam.edu
Processing Fee: The processing fee of Rs. 300/- for submission of online
application is to be paid through Debit Card / Credit Card (Master / VISA) /
Demand Draft (drawn in favor of “GITAM University” payable at Visakhapatnam
on any scheduled bank) which is not refundable. After successful payment /
entry of DD details, the candidate can download the receipt of
acknowledgment. The filled-in applications along with DD should reach on or
before 24th Sept., 2016 to the Director, Admissions, GITAM University,
Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

downloaded from www.gitam.edu. Filled-in application along with DD for

iii. Submission of Application: The last date for filling of online application is
24th September 2016. After successful payment through online for registration,

www.gitam.edu from 24th September, 2016 onwards. In case hall ticket is
not available on the website, she should immediately contact the Director,

Guidelines & Instructions to the Applicant
i. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence
will be entertained in this regard.
ii. Applications not supported by payment of processing fee are liable for
rejection.
iii. In the event of rejection of the application form, no information will be
provided and no correspondence / request for re-consideration will be
entertained.
iv. In case any candidate is found to have furnished false information or
certificates etc. or is found to have withheld or concealed any material
information in her application, she will be debarred from admission.
GNAT-2016
i. Hall Ticket can be downloaded from www.gitam.edu
ii. The All India GITAM Nursing Admission Test (GNAT) - 2016, will be conducted
on 26th September,2016 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm (2 hours).
iii. The reporting time is half an hour before the test i.e.26th September, 2016
at 2.00 pm.
iv. Candidates are allowed to carry only the Hall Ticket and Identity Proof
(Aadhar Card / Passport / School ID / 12th class Board Hall Ticket with
photograph).
v. No candidate is allowed into the test centre without valid hall ticket and ID
Proof.
vi. Candidates should not bring cell phone, calculator or any kind of electronic
gadgets to the examination hall; these are strictly prohibited. Any electronic
item found with the candidate during examination, even if switched off, will

be considered as an attempt to use unfair means and penal action will be
taken.
vii. No candidate should carry any text material, printed or written, bits of papers
or any other material except the Hall Ticket and ID Proof inside the test
centre.
viii. If a candidate is found to be copying/conversing with other candidates
he/she will be disqualified from taking the test.
ix. Candidates must not obtain or give or attempt to obtain assistance of any
kind during the examination. This will entail expulsion and cancellation of
candidature for the test.

GNAT-2016 will have one paper consisting of 100 Objective Type (Multiple
Choice) questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology), Chemistry and Physics. The

Medium of Language of Question Paper: English only
Scheme of Marking
i. Each correct answer will get a score of one mark.
ii. No credit will be given for the questions not answered.
iii. The score so obtained by the candidate will be used to determine the rank
in the test.
iv. No negative marking for incorrect answers.
Method of Resolving Ties
The overall ranking shall be based on the Test Score.
The method adopted for breaking ties (similar marks) shall be:
i. Biology: Higher scores in Biology (Botany & Zoology) will result in higher
ranking.
ii. Chemistry: If Biology scores do not break the tie, higher scores in
Chemistry will result in higher ranking.
iii. Physics: If Biology and Chemistry scores do not break the tie, higher
scores in Physics will result in higher ranking.
iv. Age: If Biology, Chemistry and Physics scores do not break the tie, the
candidate elder by age will be ranked higher.

Counseling for Admission
i. Based on the result of the GNAT-2016, merit list of the candidates will be
displayed on website on 28th September, 2016.
ii. The Counseling for admission to B.Sc. (N) program will be held at GITAM
University, Visakhapatnam campus on 30th September,2016. Details of the
schedule will be intimated in the counseling call letter which can be
downloaded from www.gitam.edu.
Counseling Overview
Those called for counseling have to report at the venue on 30th September 2016
at 9.00 am along with the following documents/certificates in original:
1. Counseling Call Letter issued by GITAM University.
2. Proof of Date of Birth – SSC or Equivalent Certificate/Birth Certificate issued
by Municipal Corporation/Revenue office indicating name and date of birth
of the candidate.
3. Pass certificate and Statement of marks of Intermediate / 10+2
examination from a recognized Central / State / AISSCE / SSCE/ HSCE /
National Institute of Open School or other equivalent Board.
4. Transfer and Conduct Certificate
5. Migration Certificate
6. Recent passport size photograph (front pose) 6 copies.
7. One set of self attested photo copies of all the certificates

Financial Assistance
The University offers financial assistance to the meritorious candidates as detailed below:
i) Merit Scholarships will be offered by way to tuition fee waiver for top 20 rankers of GNAT – 2016.

Payment of Fee
The Tuition fees of Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees thirty thousand only) for 1st year B.Sc
Nursing program has to be paid at the counseling centre by way of Demand Draft
drawn in favor of GITAM Institute of Nursing (College Receipts) payable at
Visakhapatnam. The tuition fee also can be paid by mode of RTGS into the
account of “GITAM Institute of Nursing (College Receipts)”, Account No.

not accepted for payment of fee
