Greetings TMBA Members, I am happy to announce that the Texas mortgage industry appears to be thawing out and April has finally arrived with business brisk, both for the TMBA and our member companies. For those of you unable to attend our Southern Secondary Market Conference in February, you missed a great event with record attendance and fabulous programming. Not to be outdone, the Convention committee has been hard at work preparing for our annual Convention beginning next Sunday, May 4. This year’s Convention will be held in San Antonio at the newly renovated Hyatt Hill Country. Every single exhibit space has sold out and the number of pre-registered attendees has increased to more than 680. Do not miss this opportunity to network; listen in on the riveting speakers and panels; tee-off in glorious golf weather; and enjoy evening entertainment while you quench your thirst in our Texas-sized refreshments. As you may know, the TMBPAC committee is unlike most other TMBA committees as it runs calendar-year to calendar-year; therefore, Ruth Ruhl assumed the responsibilities of the TMBPAC chairperson in January 2014. Ruth set a possible record-breaking goal for the TMBPAC to raised $150,000 for 2014 and after just two complete monthsRuth and her committee have already raised more than $45,000. Because the potential for additional regulations and government oversight is a very real threat, we as the leaders and members of the Texas real estate finance industry must unite and contribute our share to protect the future of our industry. That is why this year the theme for the TMBPAC fundraising is “Protect your future, invest in TMBPAC.” If we do not raise PAC funds and campaign rigorously, the business friendly environment we enjoy today could become a thing of the past. We absolutely must have a voice and participate in the shaping of the future of our industry. For those who have already contributed for 2014 (page 7), please accept my personal thank you and thank you from those individuals in our industry who you represent. Lastly, please renew your membership if you not have done so, we need your participation and support plus you receive the added benefit of being listed in this year’s membership directory. Hope to see you next week in San Antonio and thank you for your support of the TMBA. Sincerely, Susan T. Greetings TMBA Members,

I am happy to announce that the Texas mortgage industry appears to be thawing out and April has finally arrived with business brisk, both for the TMBA and our member companies.

Ruth set a possible record-breaking goal for the TMBPAC to raised $150,000 for 2014 and after just two complete months−Ruth and her committee have already raised more than $45,000.

Sincerely,

local MBA NEWSTexas mortgage bankersrepresent in D.C.Thirty-seven Texans including TMBA officers, board members, members, and staff traveled to Washington DC early April to participate in the national MBA’s annual National Advocacy Conference (NAC). Texas members joined more than 400 industry activists and leaders from other state MBAs in meetings with their congressional delegations and federal regulators.

Our Texas members led conversations with our federal legislators regarding the need for secondary mortgage market reform; more oversight of ongoing implementation of new mortgage rules; SAFE Act testing requirements; and maintaining long-term stability of FHA.

TMBA will be announcing the dates for its Advocacy Day in Austin sometime in March 2015. With the Texas Legislature going back into session in January, it is time to turn our attention to our state-level issues. Members are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting to give you a greater understanding of the issues our industry will be facing in the upcoming legislative session; and to bring increased awareness of the growing issues in the real estate finance industry to the members of the Texas Legislature.

If you are interested in joining us for TMBA’s Advocacy Day, please contact [email protected].

Texas Mortgage Bankers Association

TMBPAC | MISSION AND GOALThe Texas real estate economy, and as a result, the state’s lending environment,

have not only survived the industry tribulations of the past several years, but have

continued to thrive in spite of the grim commentary on market conditions reported

throughout the remainder of the country. Bolstered by “lending-friendly” legislation,

Texas continues to be a place where companies and individuals actively seek out

economic opportunity.

TMBPAC’s mission is to provide funds and direction for action to be taken on

legislative initiatives. Our goal is to provide funds necessary to promote candidates

who support a vibrant mortgage market, while encouraging total member involvement, through contribution from each

mortgage banker in the State of Texas. TMBPAC is focused on promoting all efforts aimed at creating a favorable lending

environment and protecting the future of the industry in the state.

Everyone has heard reference made to “the power of a collective voice”, an expression that rings particularly true in

the political arena. With every individual show of support from one of our members, our voice becomes stronger and

louder and more likely to be heard. Navigating the spectrum of political candidates and sorting through the continuous

onslaught of new legislation that will directly impact the way that we, as an industry do business, can be overwhelming.

The TMBPAC provides a way for association members to get involved in the political process in support of issues

important to his/her own livelihood.

That being said we would like to thank all our TMBPAC contributors that have giving their support in previous years and

in the current year.

PROTECT YOUR FUTURE, INVEST IN TMBPAC.

Responding to the market environment, most state and the federal legislatures are reacting with legislation that will significantly effect how we do business. As always TMBA is working to protect your interests, but we need your help. A strong TMBPAC raises our profile at the Capitol and is vital to meeting these upcoming challenges once the Texas Legislature reconvenes. This is a fight we can’t afford to lose. We must be able to stop or alter legislation and our PAC allows us to do that. We need to seriously strengthen our PAC, so please take a moment to make your personal contribution to the TMBPAC and encourage your peers, employees, company PACs and industry partners to do so as well.

I want to protect my future with my contribution of:
