Greetings TMBA Members, As I write this letter to you, we are in the midst of back-to-school at my house. The complete lack of schedule over the summer is replaced with pre-dawn alarms and an empty house by 7:30 am. All of a sudden order and routine returns, and I find a renewed focus to get things done that I could never quite find the time for over the summer months. The mortgage business seems to follow a similar rhythm – the peak volumes of the summer disrupt any sense of order we may have had in the spring, but now the slower volumes of the fall give us the time to focus, get ahead of things, and think strategically about our businesses. It is also a good time to think about your participation in our industry. Take out your calendars and block off the TMBA events you are going to attend over the next twelve months. We have our Educational Seminar & Marketplace with guest speaker Todd Duncan on November 19 & 20; our Mortgage Servicing Forum on December 1 & 2; Southern Secondary Market Conference on February 2 & 3; and our Advocacy Day in Austin on March 23 & 24 (complete calendar at www.texasmba.org/calendar.asp). The 2015 Texas legislative session is fast approaching and the issues we will be facing are beginning to take shape. As always, our role will be to play offense on issues that matter to our industry and a lot of defense on all sorts of bills filed that will try to change how we do business. Our political action committee will be making contributions to members of the legislature this fall to make sure the TMBA will have a relevant voice throughout the session. If you have not contributed to our PAC, please consider doing so right now at www.texasmba.org/tmbpac/contribution.asp. You can also encourage your company to run a company campaign. We are more than two-thirds of the way towards our goal of raising $150,000 in 2014 so your contribution will matter. Greetings TMBA Members,

As I write this letter to you, we are in the midst of back-to-school at my house. The complete lack of schedule over the summer is replaced with pre-dawn alarms and an empty house by 7:30 am. All of a sudden order and routine returns, and I find a renewed focus to get things done that I could never quite find the time for over the summer months. The mortgage business seems to follow a similar rhythm – the peak

volumes of the summer disrupt any sense of order we may have had in the spring, but now the slower volumes of the fall give us the time to focus, get ahead of things, and think strategically about our businesses.

Thanks for your support of TMBA,

Tom Rhodes 2014-2015 President

Texas Mortgage Bankers Association

TMBPAC | MISSION AND GOALThe Texas real estate economy, and as a result, the state’s lending environment,

have not only survived the industry tribulations of the past several years, but have

continued to thrive in spite of the grim commentary on market conditions reported

throughout the remainder of the country. Bolstered by “lending-friendly” legislation,

Texas continues to be a place where companies and individuals actively seek out

economic opportunity.

TMBPAC’s mission is to provide funds and direction for action to be taken on

legislative initiatives. Our goal is to provide funds necessary to promote candidates

who support a vibrant mortgage market, while encouraging total member involvement, through contribution from each

mortgage banker in the State of Texas. TMBPAC is focused on promoting all efforts aimed at creating a favorable lending

environment and protecting the future of the industry in the state.

Everyone has heard reference made to “the power of a collective voice”, an expression that rings particularly true in

the political arena. With every individual show of support from one of our members, our voice becomes stronger and

louder and more likely to be heard. Navigating the spectrum of political candidates and sorting through the continuous

onslaught of new legislation that will directly impact the way that we, as an industry do business, can be overwhelming.

The TMBPAC provides a way for association members to get involved in the political process in support of issues

important to his/her own livelihood.

That being said we would like to thank all our TMBPAC contributors that have giving their support in previous years and

in the current year.

PROTECT YOUR FUTURE, INVEST IN TMBPAC.

Responding to the market environment, most state and the federal legislatures are reacting with legislation that will significantly effect how we do business. As always TMBA is working to protect your interests, but we need your help. A strong TMBPAC raises our profile at the Capitol and is vital to meeting these upcoming challenges once the Texas Legislature reconvenes. This is a fight we can’t afford to lose. We must be able to stop or alter legislation and our PAC allows us to do that. We need to seriously strengthen our PAC, so please take a moment to make your personal contribution to the TMBPAC and encourage your peers, employees, company PACs and industry partners to do so as well.

I want to protect my future with my contribution of:
