The Haryana VidhanSabha speaker Gian ChadGupta has accepted the resig-nation. On January 11, AbhaySingh Chautala had offered hisconditional resignation from thestate Assembly in support of theagitating farmers. The Delhi Police on Wednesdaysaid 200 people have been de-tained in connection with the vi-olence in the national capitalduring the farmers' tractor rally.So far, 25 FIRs have been regis-tered in connection with the vi-olence in which over 300 po-licemen were injured.

Farmer leaders who havebeen named in the FIRs include:Rakesh Tikait (of BhartiyaKisan Union), Vijender SinghVirk, VM Singh, Jagtaar SinghBajwa, Rishipal Singh, HarpalSingh, Vinod Kumar, DarshanPal, Rajinder Singh, Balbir

Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh,Joginder Singh Ugraha, GurnamSingh Chaduni, and Swaraj In-dia leader Yogendra Yadav.

Most of them have beenbooked for violating the NOCguidelines issued for the tractor

Union spokesperson RakeshTikait's name is mentioned in anFIR by Delhi Police. The FIRmentions multiple IPC sections,including sec 307 (attempt to

murder), 147 (punishment forrioting) and 353 (assault/crimi-nal force to deter public servantfrom discharge of his duty), anews agency reported.

In one of the FIRs, a DelhiPolice cop has alleged thatfarmers tried to kill him by rid-ing a tractor on the barricades.He alleged that this was done onthe orders of the farmers' lead-ers.

The complaint also allegesthat number plates of the trac-tors were hidden.

The police have said thatfarmers were allowed to holdtheir tractor march from 12noon to 5 pm but they startedthe march early.

Talking to reporters, Bharatiya Kisan Union(Bhanu) president Thakur Bhanu Pratap Singhsaid he was deeply pained by whatever happened during the tractorparade in the national capital, adding that his union was ending itsprotest. The union was staging the protest at the Chilla border. VMSingh of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee saidthat it is withdrawing from the ongoing agitation as they cannot car-ry forward a protest with someone "whose direction is somethingelse".

Twitter suspends over 550accounts after violence

NEW DELHI: Twitter on Wednesday suspended over 550 accountsfrom its platform in connection with the violence during the farmers'tractor rally in the national capital on the 72nd Republic Day.

A Twitter spokesperson told that the platform has also labelledtweets which were found to be in violation of its "synthetic and ma-nipulated media policy". "We have taken strong enforcement actionto protect the conversation on the service from attempts to incite vi-olence, abuse, and threats that could trigger the risk of offline harmby blocking certain terms that violate our rules for trends.

Terming as unacceptable the violence perpetrated bycertain elements during today’s Tractor Rally in the na-tional capital, Punjab Chief Minister CaptainAmarinder Singh on Tuesday urged all genuine farm-ers to immediate vacate Delhi and return to the borders,where they had been protesting peacefully for the pasttwo months.

The Chief Minister also ordered a high alert inPunjab amid the tension and violence in Delhi, and di-rected DGP Dinkar Gupta to ensure that law and orderin the state is not disturbed at any cost.

Expressing grave concern over the situation, theChief Minister said the violence was apparently trig-gered by some people who violated the rules laid downfor the Tractor March through mutual agreement be-tween the Delhi Police and the Kisan Unions. It wasunfortunate that these elements disturbed the peacefulagitation of the farmers, he said, condemning the inci-dents that took place at the historic Red Fort and someother key points of the national capital.

Khattar announces to include 233villages in Jagmag Gaon scheme

BUREAU CHANDIGARH , JAN 27

While taking a significantstep towards fulfilling hispromise to make availableround-the-clock power sup-ply in villages of the State,Haryana Chief Minister, MrManohar Lal on January 26announced to include 223more villages under theMhara Gaon – JagmagGaon Scheme thus takingthe total number of suchvillages to 5223. These vil-lages would start getting 24hour power supply fromJanuary 26 onwards.

Mr Manohar Lal whowas addressing the gather-ing after unfurling the na-tional flag on the occasionof 72th Republic Day atPanchkula said that at pres-ent there are about 1500 vil-lages which are getting 16hours to 21 hours powersupply daily. He said that24 hour power supplywould also be ensured inthese villages soon.

Earlier, the Chief Min-ister paid homage to themartyrs by laying a wreathat the war memorial. Healso inspected the parade bythe contingent of Indo Ti-betan Border Police Force,Haryana Police and Nation-al Cadet Corps (NCC).

While paying rich trib-utes to all those martyrs andfreedom fighters who sacri-ficed their lives for the free-dom of the country, theChief Minister said that thenation would always re-main indebted to the sacri-fices made by our brave

heroes. The sacrificesmade by them for the free-dom of the country couldnever be forgotten, headded.

He said that the presentState Government has tak-en several initiatives forthe welfare of freedomfighters and their depend-ents. He said that a month-ly pension of Rs 25,000 isprovided to the freedomfighters and their widowsin the State. Apart fromthis, government jobs havebeen given to 332 depend-ents of the martyrs who at-tained martyrdom whilesafeguarding borders of thecountry. Also, the ex-gratiagrant to their families hasalso been increased fromRs. 20 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh.

While congratulatingthe people of Panchkula onthe occasion of RepublicDay, he said that Panchku-la became the 17th districtof Haryana in 1995. Hesaid that Panchkula has aspecial significance not

PATIALA: Augmenting his gov-ernment’s efforts to ensure the ho-listic development of the state andto harness its optimum tourismpotential, Punjab Chief MinisterCaptain Amarinder Singh onTuesday digitally kicked-off aslew of development projects,worth Rs.213.37 crore, as a gift tothe residents of Patiala heritagecity on the 72nd Republic Day.

These projects include projectfor rejuvenation of Badi Nadi &Chhoti Nadi, being implementedby Patiala Urban Planning andDevelopment Authority, at a costof Rs. 208.33 crore, besides re-

vival of historic Rajindra Lake atRs.5.04 crore. According to aspokesperson of Chief Minister’sOffice, the rejuvenation project ofBadi & Chotti Nadi, which com-menced on October 22, 2020,would be completed within 24months.
