CITY OF ARMSTRONG Minutes of the Greater Armstrong Committee Meeting held in the Council Chambers, 3570 Bridge Street,
Armstrong, B.C., on November 10, 2008.
PRESENT:
Committee: Councillor P Hudson, Chair; Councillor R. O’Sullivan

CALL TO ORDER:
Councillor Hudson called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m.
ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA:
MOVED by Councillor Trainor, seconded by Councillor O’Sullivan, that the Greater Armstrong
Committee Agenda be adopted as circulated, with one addition under Correspondence.

ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES:
MOVED by Councillor Nitchie, seconded by Councillor O’Sullivan, that the October 27, 2008 Greater
Armstrong Committee Minutes be adopted.

PRESENTATION OF REPORTS:
Picture BC Program
Administrator Ferguson outlined the Picture BC program which includes a website created by the
Province in preparation for the 2010 Olympics. The City submitted six photos to represent Armstrong.
The photos will be included on the Province’s website for the international media to see. The City will
also have the opportunity to have their own community page via the Picture BC website.
Community Initiatives Update
Councillor Hudson reported that a number of events have been planned for the community’s BC150
celebrations on November 19th and a complete announcement will be made this evening.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Ministry of Community Development re: 2009 Towns for Tomorrow Funding Program
Councillor Hudson announced that up to $400k is available under the 2009 Towns for Tomorrow
program and that these monies can be applied to a project like the pool replacement. The program
provides for up to 80% funding for approved projects, with the maximum contribution being $400k.
Administrator Ferguson noted that the deadline to submit an application is January 16, 2009.

The City received a letter from the Township who would like to have a joint meeting in December in
order to discuss the pool replacement. Councillor Hudson noted that the City has already endorsed the
project as outlined by the last proposal of the Parks & Recreation Commission and that City Council’s
views have not changed since that endorsement.
The Committee RECOMMENDS that Council direct staff to begin the paperwork for the application
process based on the last proposal prepared by the Parks & Recreation Commission and that they advise
the Township and the Parks and Recreation Commission that they would be happy to sit down and review
the project with the new Council.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion by Councillor Trainor, the Committee adjourned at 1:48 p.m.
