Joan Gayle Ewalt JESUP – Joan Gayle Ewalt, 86 years old, of Jesup, IA, died of natural causes, Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Friendship Village, Waterloo, IA. Memorial services were 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, Jesup, IA, with Pastor John C. White as officiant. Visitation was 5 - 8 p.m., Friday, Octo- ber 26, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. Visitation continued for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church and the Jesup Public Library. Joan Gayle Fuller was born Sep- tember 27, 1932, in Jesup, IA, the daughter of Omar B. Fuller and Mary (Woods) Fuller. She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1950. On April 20, 1951, she was united in marriage with Marlin Eldis Ewalt, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup. They made their home in Je- sup for many years, before Marlin’s job took them to Cabot, Arkansas. Af- ter 20 years in Arkansas they moved back home to Jesup, where Marlin and Joan could be close to family. He pre- ceded her in death in 2013. Joan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup. She was a proud member of the United States Golf Association, Jesup Golf & Country Club, and Rolling Hills Coun- try Club in Cabot, AR. Joan enjoyed creating crafts of all types, especially sewing, knitting, and cross-stitching. She also enjoyed her peace roses. Joan loved children. She was a golf and swimming instructor, as well as a Cub Scout den mother. She liked to teach the value of hard work. Her methods were simple and effective. Joan is survived by one son, Low- ell (Brenda Stelter) Ewalt of Indepen- dence, IA; one daughter, Iva (Randy) Ruehs of Jesup, IA; eight grandchil- dren, Aaron (Angie Bosshart) Ewalt, Nathan (Hanna) Ewalt, Megan (Travis) Beville, Andi Marie (Jon) McConnell, Matthew (Alyssa Horlick) Ewalt, Alix Ann (Sean Moroney) Ewalt, David (Melanie) Ruehs, and Amanda (Jessie Ryan) Ruehs; five great-grandchil- dren, Nova, Julien, Regan, Calvin, and Isaac; three brothers, Donald Fuller of New Smyrna, FL, Jim (Cleta) Fuller of Vinton, IA, Tom (Karen) Fuller of Cedar Falls, IA; and one sister, Marion (Jim) Elson of Jesup, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlin Ewalt; one son, Jeffrey Ewalt; four brothers, Rob- ert Fuller, Charles Fuller, John Full- er, William Fuller; and three sisters, Lucille Fuller, in infancy, Marjorie Moore, and Frances Crawford. The Jesup Lions Club along with Buchanan County Health Center are teaming up to sponsor a free Diabe-tes Health and Wellness Fair on Sat-urday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. at Jesup City Hall Community Room. The public is invited to stop by to talk with medical professionals and receive free health screenings re-lated to diabetes.
