STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Justice BS Walia ofJ&K High Court kept inabeyance the preliminaryenquiry initiated by VigilanceOrganisation Jammu (VOJ)against Jammu Universityregarding books purchase.

While staying the preliminaryenquiry against JammuUniversity, Justice Walia afterhearing Advocate Anil Sethiobserved that counsel for thepetitioner stated that on a com-plaint filed by one NarinderSingh Raina, GeneralSecretary, National SecularForum, Sarwal Jammu againstthe Authorities of JammuUniversity, J&K StateVigilance Commission videdetailed order dated 1stFebruary 2017 in a complaintNo.925/2015 came to the con-clusion that the allegationsmade by the complainant werebaseless and not based on truefacts.

Justice Walia furtherobserved that counsel for theJammu University furthercontended that now theVigilance Organisation hasinstituted an enquiry into thematter which is based on iden-

tical allegations which were thesubject matter of complaintNo.925/2015 which as notedabove was dismissed on theground of the same being base-less and not based on truefacts.

During the course of hearing,Advocate Anil Sethi submittedthat the enquiry by theVigilance Organisation hasbeen manipulated by one of itsofficials who harboured hostili-ties against the University onaccount of his wife not beingaccommodated in theUniversity despite her notbeing entitled for the same.Advocate Sethi submitted thatthe aforementioned official andhis wife are not parties in theinstant writ petition and sougtpermission to array them asrespondents.

Upon this, Justice Walia per-mitted the same in the presenceof Reader of Court and issuednotice to them and ordered thatsubject to objections from othersides, the enquiry initiated bythe Vigilance OrganisationJammu shall remain inabeyance till the next date onlyand subject to filing of objec-tions by the other side.
