The California Articulation Number (CAN) identifies some of the transferable, lower division, introductory(preparatory) courses commonly taught within each academic discipline on California college campuses. The system assures that CAN courses on one participating campus will be accepted “in lieu of” the com-parable CAN course for the major on another participating campus. Example: CAN ECON 2 on one campuswill be accepted for CAN ECON 2 on another participating campus. Note: CAN will be phased out in Fall2006. See a counselor for further information.
