SUMMARY
Approximately 2 months ago the dock located at Riverside Park West was demolished
by vandals Due to agenda deadlines we were unable to place the item on last months
agenda Mr Seger Deputy Director Public Works Parks Recreation and Public
Buildings has provided 3 quotes for work to be done to repair the dock Quotes and email
correspondence is attached for your review

Discussions had begun with Finance to determine the best budget line to take the money
This request appears to be a good allowable use of CRA funds Pursuant to our adopted
plan it improves the physical image within the CRA District strengthens downtown as a
multiusecenter and strengthens the citys contribution to the well being of the
community Please note that the doc has been temporarily secured with wooden
barricades to warn visitors ofthe potential danger
REQUIRED ACTION The Advisory Board should make a recommendation to the
CRA Board as to whether or not to approve expenditures for repair of the Riverside
Park West Dock Additional consideration should be given to recommend to the
CRA Board for a budget adjustment to move approved funds within the CRA
budget from one budget line to another if necessary

Thank you for considering Duncan Seawall Dock and Boat Lift for the proposed new decking projectDuncan Seawall has been in business since 1979 and has maintained an excellent reputation fot qualityworkmanship Our proposal is as follows
Duncan Seawall Dock and Boat Lift will extract andtemove from site the existing pilings substructure
and decking Duncan Seawall will then construct a new pressure treated dock in the shape of an arch to
match the arch on the existing landward side approximately 22 wide and 11 out into the water The
dock will be supported by 6 new pilings and the existing concrete base The stringers and headers will
be constructed of2x 8 pressure treated timbers and will be bolted to each piling with 58diameter
stainless steel bolts The decking will consist of2x 6 1 grade 40ACQhand select Master Deck
timbers and will be attached with stainless steel screws two per connection All exposed edges ofcut
timbers including pilings headers and deck boards will be beveled to prevent splintering as well as for
appearance The hand rail which is included in this price will consist of a long lasting and aestheticallypleasing marine grade wood top plate and 2x 4pressure treated side and midrails The hand rail will
be segmented in 8 sections and supported by4x 4pressure treated posts

Price quoted does not include any permitting costs Duncan Seawall will help in obtaining the Manatee
County permit and theDEPandor Army Corps of Engineetsapprovals Manatee County will require a
copy of asurvey All costs including surveys andor engineering fees required by any ofthese agencieswill be the owners responsibility and added to the project total
