Mounting Positions Any mounting position is permissible.
Lubrication The PLS gearboxes are lubricated for life with high grade semi-fluid synthetic grease “Klubersynth GE 46-1200” . (Kluber Lubrication LP, - www.klueber.com -). Under normal operating conditions it is not required to change or replen-ish the lubricant. Since the NEUGART gears are honed, no run in wear occurs, there is no lubricant contamination from the wear particles during the run in period. For special requirements such as extreme high or low temperatures, USDA food grade lubricants etc., please contact Neugart USA.
Operating Temperature Temperature range is –25 to +100 degree C (-13F to 212F). Consult Neugart USA if the operating temperatures are outside this range.
Recommended Motor Flange / Motor shaft run out tolerances The Motor shaft run out and flange perpendicularity should be according to DIN 42955-R tolerances to avoid unneces-sary bearing loads and associated heat build up along with possible premature bearing wear. (visit www.neugartusa.com — >service —>FAQ, for the detailed specifications of the DIN 42955-R tolerance )
Shaft Seals Premium NBR shaft seals are used in the PLS planetary servo gearboxes. We recommend inspecting the seal after a maximum of 10,000 hrs operation. Optional VITON or Teflon based seals upon request.
Protection class The enclosure protection class of the PLS planetary servo gearboxes corresponds to class IP 65.

Motor Mounting of the PLS Gearhead Virtually any motor can be mounted to the NEUGART PLS gearhead using a matching motor adapter / input housing. The motor shaft diameter (D30) must be equal to, or smaller than the maximum input bore (D20). The motor shaft is clamped to the hollow input shaft using the patented NEUGART Precision Clamping System (PCS). Lubrication The WPLS gearboxes are lubricated for life with high grade synthetic grease “Klubersynth GE 46-1200” . (Kluber Lu-brication LP, - www.klueber.com -). Under normal operating conditions it is not required to change or replenish the lu-bricant. For special requirements such as extreme high or low temperatures or USDA food grade lubricants etc. Please contact Neugart USA.
Mounting Positions WPLS units can be mounted in any mounting position.
Operating Temperature Temperature range is –25 to +100 degree C (-13F to 212F).
Recommended Motor Flange / Motor shaft run out tolerances The Motor shaft run out and flange perpendicularity should be according to DIN 42955-R tolerances to avoid unneces-sary bearing loads and associated heat build up along with possible premature bearing wear. Shaft Seals Premium NBR shaft seals are used in the PLS planetary servo gearboxes. We recommend to inspect the seal after a maximum of 10,000 hrs operation. Optional VITON seals upon request.
Protection class The enclosure protection class of the PLS planetary servo gearboxes corresponds to class IP 65.

The shaft of the motor must be equal to, or smaller than the maximum input bore (dimension D20). Mounting Positions Any mounting position is permissible.
Lubrication The PLE gearboxes are lubricated for life with high grade synthetic grease “Kluberplex BEM 34-132” . (Kluber Lubri-cation LP, - www.klueber.com -). Under normal operating conditions it is not required to change or replenish the lubri-cant. Lubricants for special requirements such as extreme high or low temperatures, USDA food grade lubricants etc. are available upon request, Please contact Neugart USA.
Operating Temperature Temperature range is –25 to +90 degree C (-13F to 194F) . Contact Neugart USA if operating temperatures are out-side this range.
Recommended Motor Flange / Motor shaft run out tolerances The Motor shaft run out and flange perpendicularity should be according to DIN 42955-R tolerances to avoid unneces-sary bearing loads and associated heat build up along with possible premature bearing wear. Lubrication The PLE gearboxes are lubricated for life with high grade synthetic grease “Kluberplex BEM 34-132” . (Kluber Lubri-cation LP, - www.klueber.com -). Under normal operating conditions it is not required to change or replenish the lubri-cant. Lubricants for special requirements such as extreme high or low temperatures, USDA food grade lubricants etc. are available upon request, Please contact Neugart USA.
Mounting Positions Any mounting position is permissible.
Operating Temperature Temperature range is –25 to +90 degree C (-13F to 194F). Consult factory if the operating temperatures are outside this range.
Recommended Motor Flange / Motor shaft run out tolerances The Motor shaft run out and flange perpendicularity should be according to DIN 42955-R tolerances to avoid unneces-sary bearing loads and associated heat build up along with possible premature bearing wear. Lubrication PLS-HP gearboxes are lubricated for life with high grade semi fluid synthetic grease “Klubersynth GE 46-1200” . (Kluber Lubrication LP, - www.klueber.com -). Under normal operating conditions it is not required to change or replen-ish the lubricant. Since the NEUGART gears are honed, no run in wear occurs and consequently there is no lubricant contamination from the wear particles during the run in period. For extreme high or low temperatures, USDA food grade lubricants etc. please contact Neugart USA.

Recommended Motor Flange / Motor shaft run out tolerances The Motor shaft run out and flange perpendicularity should be according to DIN 42955-R tolerances to avoid unneces-sary bearing loads and associated heat build up along with possible premature bearing wear. Shaft Seals Premium shaft seals suitable for elevated temperatures are used in the PLS-HP planetary servo gearboxes. We rec-ommend to inspect the seal after a maximum of 10,000 hrs operation.

Motor Mounting of the PLS-HP Gearhead Virtually any motor can be mounted to the NEUGART PLS-HP gearhead using a matching motor adapter / input housing. The mo-tor shaft diameter (D30) must be equal to / or smaller than the maximum input bore (D20). The motor shaft is clamped to the hollow input shaft using the patented NEUGART Precision Claming System (PCS). Motor Mounting of the PLF-HP Gearhead Virtually any motor can be mounted to the NEUGART PLF-HP gearhead using a matching motor adapter / input housing. The motor shaft diameter (D30) must be equal to / or smaller than the maximum input bore (D20). The motor shaft is clamped to the hollow input shaft using the patented NEUGART Preci-sion Claming System (PCS). Sizing / Selection of NEUGART Servo Gearheads
DEFINITION OF THE RATED TORQUE Torque rating of the NEUGART gearheads is in line with the applicable proven rating standards (AGMA, DIN, ISO). The listed rated torque of the gearheads is based on the endurance limit of the components (gears, shafts, car-rier, housing) which means the gearing will endure unlimited number of load cycles as long as the load torque does not exceed the gearhead rated torque.
1) Determine the required gearhead torque rating: For a reliable long gearhead operation life: TRGRT – Required Gearhead Torque Rating = TMAT - Max. Application Torque
TMAT - Max. Application Torque - is the highest torque load repeatedly occurring during a characteristic load cycle for the given application. If the number of the load cycles with the maximum torque is only a few thousand over the gearhead expected life and the duration of the max torque cycles is only a few seconds, the max application torque can exceed the gearhead rated torque.

Bearings are rated for a defined number of hrs L10 life at 100 rpm output shaft speed according the bearing rating standards. (In this definition the output shaft means the slow speed shaft.) L10 life rating: 20 000 hrs for: PLS, WPLS, PLS-HP, PLF-HP, single stage PLE and WPLE gearheads 10 000 hrs for: two and three stage PLE and WPLE gearheads
Frequently are the exact application data and the TMAT peak torque loading not known and a selected servo motor needs to be matched up with the suitable size gearhead. To determine TMAT and required gearhead rating TRGRT pro-ceed as follows:
A) - Selection for a specific servo motor - no other load and application related details are known
TRGRT = TMAT = TMpeakT x i B) - Selection for a specific servo motor - motor and load inertia and non-dynamic friction load are known.

2. Check Motor and Gearhead geometrical compatibility, output shaft loading, operation conditions
After Neugart servo gearhead size is selected based on the required gearhead torque rating TRGRT check: - check motor shaft diameter motor shaft diameter must not exceed maximum input pinion bore diameter of selected gearhead - check gearhead output shaft loading if substantial axial and/or radial loads are present in the application - check recommended maximum unsupported motor weight (support it, if required) - check max input speed, ambient (operating) temperature, required IP class
C) - Selection for application with known detailed load cycle information
C-1 - High duty cycle operation - multiple load cycles per minute and expected gearhead life more than 5000 Hrs: Apply Method B (see above)
C-2 - Low cycle operation - few cycles per hour, expected gearhead life below 500 Hrs: Submit detailed data to Neugart USA for sizing assistance.
