Exphere C18, YMC*GEL HG series: High strength packing material

YMC-Exphere C18, YMC*GEL HG seriesYMC-Exphere C18 and HG series are newly developed packing materials based on high density and high strength silica gel. Excellent mechanical stability allows them to be used for a long term repacking into the dynamic axial compression column. Moreover, Exphere C18 has new polymeric modification, so it shows excellent stability under acidic and alkaline conditions.

Features

● High density and high strength silica gel● Narrow distribution of particle size and pore size● Excellent chemical stability under acidic

conditions due to polymeric bonding● Excellent peak shapes

Exphere C18Newly developed silica gel

The silica gel of YMC-Exphere has perfect spherical shape and smooth surface. Therefore, it provides higher plate number.

Column pressure

To evaluate mechanical strength for packed gel, repeated packing and unpacking using a DAC column was undertaken.SEM images of 1st and 13th repacking are shown in above.Exphere C18 and HG series use a high strength silica; therefore column pressure is the same as the initial value after 13 times repacking. High mechanical stability enables longer life time.

T y p e s a n d c h a r a c t e r i s t i c s o f p a c k i n g m a t e r i a l sYMC Co., Ltd. offers both spherical and irregular types of packing materials. These products come in a wide range of particle sizes.Spherical packing materials are used for both analytical and preparative columns. Since the packing homogeneity of spherical packing materials is generally higher than that of irregular packing materials, spherical packing materials are characterized by high separability, excellent packing reproducibility and small pressure loss. However, spherical packing materials are more expensive than irregular packing materials.

Irregular packing materials are mainly used for preparative chromatography and often also for open column chromatography. Irregular packing materials are significantly less expensive than spherical packing materials. For both spherical and irregular packing materials, smaller particle sizes result in higher separability, but with higher column backpressure and at higher prices. We recommend that users consider the tradeoff between required separability and the consumption and cost of columns when selecting particle shapes and particle sizes of packing materials.

S p h e r i c a l p a c k i n g m a t e r i a l s f o r p r e p a r a t i v e i s o l a t i o nSpherical packing materials for preparative separation come in a wide variety of phases including reversed-phase, normal-phase, and chiral stationary phase, and are applicable to a wide range of fields in preparative separation. These products come in six particle sizes: 10 µm, 15 µm, 20 µm, 50 µm, 75 µm and 150 µm. The quality of all sizes of products is strictly controlled.YMC gels with particle sizes of 20 µm, 50 µm, 75 µm

and 150 µm have narrow particle size distributions and excellent cost performance. Among these, YMC S-20 with an appropriate particle size of 20 µm is useful for semi-preparative separation and separation on axial compression column as well as industrial separation.YMC*GEL is used all around the world for its wide product range in phase and particle size.
