Initially I used the original nets from the last task and set about improving those design. I simplified the mailshot and used the new green on white logo. I moved on from this format as I was not looking to use a mailshot in this promotion.

I used the blossom and logo had received favourable feedback in the crit. This was to print on acetate. At this stage I printed the hexagon net separately to use as a template

Using the original hexagon template sourced from the Pippin Series, in Illustrator I scaled the Lid up and scaled the sides down in order to produce a package suitablefor a single apple.

This was the original design for the single apple holder The package was sized correctly for a med-lge apple Lorraine pointed out the nutritional label was US style so I re-design this later.

The design for the four holder apple at his stage was still cluttered. the scale was correct However when made up in acetate and loaded with apples, the structure would require additional support.

The half marathon giveaway campaign needed a leaflet both to inform of the offer but more importantly to raise awareness of a new 'English' grown apple and its benefits.

The first design was cluttered the font pt size to large however I liked the shape and the info.

The back of the leaflet did not work - too cluttered.

At this stage after the second Type workshop I started putting more though into layout and how sentences were broken down. I looked at a more traditional font, in his case,

a Serif font, Didot. This provided a more elegant feel however concerns were raised over readability fur to the narrow ligature, ascenders and descenders.

I opted for another Serif font, Modern 20 which had formed the basis for the 'Sweetie' logo. Again aesthetically elegant, traditional however think for readability need a sans serif font. The back of the leaflet did not work with one blossom shape until opened out. Each hexagon section did not 'make sense' individually Overall though like the new layout with left or right justified text.

The San Serif font Century Gothic works best on both the hexagonal packaging and the leaflet

In Illustrator nearly got caught out with the outline The red should be all red as when this is scaled down the red circles disappear. I decided to keep the Grey outline on the W/crown however I would probably revise this as again depending on scale can effect the saturation of 'green' visible.

Refining the design and adding appropriate info. I experimented with adding the Tractor logo however could not find a suitable spot for it. This would have to be on in reality. Improved the nutrition label and much simpler use of the blossom logo. The logo is smaller so if only one panel at the front of shelves still visible to customer.

After a couple of crits referring to 'eco' issues I decided to design a luxury 'paper' bag. The apples still need to be visible to the customer so I used the 'hexagon' theme for the window. The use of hexagons on the sides of the bags is effective

Package v a card based package I emailed a printer ho prints on both substrates. i sent a PDF copy of the file as just CMYK with no spot colours to keep things simple. I realise now that I had not specified the die cut as a separate channel. Unfortunately although I received a response as this was not a 'real' job they have not provided an estimate.

For the final crit I had printed some whote background labels at home. However they disappeared on the red apple. I decided they needed a green background. When

Before the final crit I had decided the long hexagon needed to be stronger so experimented with a 'flatter' wider box for four apples I did produce an acetate mockup which did not work as a structure. However on reflection a white card stock with an acetate window in this shape could have worked.

The final design for submission in 220gsm card with an acetate window. Must be more thorough checking my art work - I missed the mis-aligned Copy right 'R'.

This is the net printed in the digital dungeon using transparent ink for the net which needs to be specified RGB 253. this ink can also work as a 'dummy' spot varnish on the right stock.

Experimenting with hexagons on a Banner for the London hald marathon. Too busy.

This banner would work better. The wo hexagons not visible I tried using the transparent ink on tracing paper. The mock up was not successful however large scale in a stronger weather resistant substrate such as polyproplene
