5 General Guidelines for Deliveries 5.1 Packaging Size & Shape a. Unless there is no other agreement, maximum measurements of handling units are fixed and cannot be compromised.
Half pallet unit: 600 x 800 x 950 mm Pallet unit: 1200 x 800 x 950 mm
Y2/X30 Boxes: 600 x 400 x 200 mm Y3/X40 Boxes: 300 x 400 x 200 mm
b. Packaging should be designed in a way that it can easily be transported by using forklifts, automated material handling equipment and pallet jacks. Consider handling restrictions in warehousing and transport and avoid wedge shaped packaging and overhang of products on the edge of pallet.
c. Damage can occur in transit, when a pallet doesn’t have a flat top surface and consists of different size of containers, therefore the components must be placed in even layers on the pallet.
DO
Husqvarna Standard Measurement
X DON’T
Various Box Sizes and Shapes
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 19 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
5.2 Packaging Quality & Protection a. Packaging should protect its content from damage by contamination, moisture, shock, vibration, compression, temperature, corrosion, and other external/internal factors that can be harmful to products.
Packaging must resist weather and other conditions that can occur during transport.
X DON’T
Over-sized / Non-ergonomic stacking Wedge shaped
Overhang on the pallet
X DON’T
Uneven layers / Wedged shaped Misaligned boxes
Overhang on the pallet
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 20 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
X DON’T
Partially cover pallet
DO
Build pallets that would maintain their initial condition and protect their content through
the entire supply chain
X DON’T
Use poor quality packaging material Oddly-shaped containers/pallets
X DON’T
Loose stretch film that flaps Block opening between deck boards
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 21 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
DO
Consider allowed max pallet height (950 mm) Straps should be on the long side of pallet
Make sure that straps are tightly fixed and they do not block barcodes
b. Transportation unit must be securely fixed preferably with plastic straps (Local / Regional suppliers) and/or stretch films according to instructions in earlier parts of this document.
c. It is not allowed to use steel or any other hard material straps rather than plastic, since it can harm workers.
d. Stretch films should be tight and cover the entire unit without blocking opening between deck boards.
e. When using plastic straps, maximum allowed height by Husqvarna (950 mm) should be considered. Pallets cannot be stacked and strapped together.
f. Straps should be single and placed on the long side of the pallet (for half pallet).
X DON’T
Stack and strap two or more pallets together Exceed allowed max pallet height (950 mm)
Do not mix different types of boxes (i.e X30/X40) on the same pallet
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 22 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
g. Packaging should be designed in a smart way that it would minimize non-value adding activities such as repacking, individual packaging protection etc.
5.3 Packaging Selection There are 2 standard pallet types are presented in this document and suppliers to Husqvarna Manufacturing are obligated to use them during deliveries.
Pallet Type Dimensions (Width x Length in mm)
Husqvarna Selection Comments
Half Pallet (Y1) 600 x 800 1 Majority of all items
Euro Pallet (Y6) 800 x 1200 2 Very few items
Sea / EUR 2-3/ Non-Standard Pallets
No standard Not Preferred Exception, very rare
Half Pallet (Y1): Majority of items should be delivered with this pallet type. There only can be exceptions, if the item size doesn’t allow use Half Pallet type.
Euro Pallet (Y6): If ONLY items wouldn’t fit Half Pallet, because of items dimensions, Euro Pallet can be used.
Sea / EUR 2-3/ Non-Standard Pallets: These pallet types are not mentioned in “R0221-Packaging instructions for suppliers to Huskvarna Manufacturing”, since they do not fit Huskvarna Manufacturing automated material handling system. Hence, they should ONLY be used, if the specific items dimension wouldn’t allow usage of Half Pallet or Euro Pallet types.
DO
Consider smarter packaging & protection such as whole layer and/or whole pallet protection to
minimize unpacking time
X DON’T
One-piece item protection *(Unless it is agreed upon with Husqvarna)
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 23 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
5.4 Labelling a. All units with parts that are delivered to Huskvarna Manufacturing must be clearly labelled according to instructions has been given earlier parts of this document.
Each individual box and pallet as a whole unit must be labelled with Odette Transport Labels (OTL).
b. The format of the OTL is similar to A5 paper size and it shall NOT be printed on larger paper sizes, e.g. A4.
c. Paper that the label is printed on should have a certain quality that it assures information on the label is readable through the whole supply chain. Preferably labels are adhesive and they do not attached with staple and it is forbidden to use staple with packaging types X30 and X40.
d. Main label should always be placed at the bottom-left part of the pallet unit, on the long side of the pallet (see picture below). Box labels should be placed according to earlier instructions that have given when presenting packaging types.
DO A5 Paper Format
X DON’T A4 Paper Format
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 24 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
e. When using stretch films and/or plastic strips, in order to secure transport package, do not block barcodes on OTL. Whole surface of the label should be visible and barcodes should be readable during automatic scanning process without any manual handling.
f. Make sure to remove all other irrelevant labels e.g. supplier internal labels, previous transport labels, before dispatching unit to Huskvarna Manufacturing. This is because they may interfere with automatic scanning and storage processes.
DO Have clear labels for each box and one main label
that refers to the entire pallet.
Box Label (On each box)
Main Label (The bottom-left box)
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 25 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
DO Have ONLY relevant transport labels
Make sure labels are readable through supply chain by automatic scanners
X DON’T
Block/cover labels when securing the pallet
Be aware that plastic covered labels are less visible. Unless there is no other agreement, they shouldn’t be preferred by local / regional suppliers. For overseas deliveries, labels can be attached with label holders.
X DON’T
Have irrelevant labels on transport packages
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 26 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
5.5 Homogenous & Mixed Handling Units There are two main component warehouses in Huskvarna Manufacturing and each is regulated by different rules. Information about which warehouse an article is stored in is clearly stated on supplier delivery schedules and can also be learned by responsible material planner.
It is crucially important that items are packed according to warehouse requirements that they belong to.
Warehouse Code Warehouse Name Components Handling Units
01 Pallet Warehouse
Large-Medium Size and/or High Volume Small-Size ONLY Homogenous
05 Box Warehouse Small-Medium Size Mixed & (Homogenous)
Pallet Warehouse (01) stores Large-Medium Size items and/or High Volume Small-Size items. All packaging types that are presented in this document can be stored in this warehouse, but it is important that handling unit is homogenous; in other words only one type of Article Number per pallet, no mixture of different articles.
Box Warehouse (05) stores Small-Medium Size items and as it can be understood by its name only boxes i.e. packaging types Y2, Y3, X30 and X40 that are presented in this document can be stored in this warehouse.
For items that are stored in Box Warehouse (05) outer dimensions of boxes are fixed and cannot be compromised. Outer dimensions are stated in earlier chapters of this document.
Main Label (The bottom-left box) Simple Homogenous Handling Unit
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 27 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
Handling units that are stored in Box Warehouse (05) can either be homogenous or mixed; i.e in other words there can be several Article Numbers on one pallet. However, it is important that different box types e.g. X30 and X40 are not mixed on the same pallet. Goods labels for Homogenous Handling Units with small boxes can be seen above and goods labels for Mixed Handling Units are as below.
Additionally, it is important that Main Label of Mixed Handling Units do not block Box Labels and they are readable through.

Delivery Note- Example
6 Appendix
Delivery Note All deliveries to Huskvarna Manufacturing have to contain a delivery document placed on one of the units the delivery contains.
The delivery document has to be attached by sticks or tape, and shall be easily accessed at Huskvarna Manufacturing
The delivery document has to include the following information:
• Delivery note number • Address for unloading and terminal number • Husqvarna parts number • Husqvarna contract/order number • Delivered quantity • Name of the supplier • Number of units and type of units • Supplier Number
A delivery note number must be unique for each delivery document. In partial shipments a new number must be generated each time. A supplier using Husqvarna AB web-portal must specify the specific delivery note number that is used in the Web-portal on all documents, including the invoice.
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 30 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
Way Bill- example
Way Bill (Bill of Loading) All deliveries to Huskvarna Manufacturing have to be sent together with a Way Bill. This is the document sent with the carrier, and shall be given to Huskvarna Manufacturing at arrival. The Way Bill has to include the following information:
• Address for unloading and terminal number • Delivery note number • Gross weight • Name of the supplier • Number of units and type of units
Parts made of plastics with a warning-triangle on the drawing should unconditionally be marked with labelling specification of material of origin of which they are made. This is a requisite for certification.
The loading of the parts must be done in a way to make it easy to identify all units.
Printed document only valid 06/10/2017 Page 31 of 32 Doc no:ESAT-86UCW7Rev no:115
Invoice-Example
Invoice Every invoice sent to Husqvarna AB needs to contain information so that the invoice could be matched with the goods. This information is matched against the delivery note and other documents sent with the goods which means that these numbers must be equivalent on all documents.
As a supplier using Husqvarna AB web- portal, the data given in the web- portal shall also be equivalent to the data on all documents.
If the invoice refers to one delivery containing one or many articles, sent with only one delivery note, then one delivery note number may be given for the entire invoice. (See example below)
If the invoice instead refers to more than one delivery sent with more than one delivery note, then the delivery note numbers must be specified for each row of the invoice.
In partial deliveries shall the invoice refer to the goods that are sent and that particular unique delivery note number. When the next part of the delivery is sent (with a new delivery note number. The invoice has in order to match with the goods include the following information:
• Delivery Note Number
• Husqvarna Part Number
• Husqvarna Order Number
• Supplier Number
