NORTH HALL North Hall Speed Dating
Residents came out and met one another at
our speed-dating event.
How it Worked: Each resident sat across from another resident and answered interesting questions
about themselves. After 2 minutes, they switched and met the next resident at the table.
There were chocolate covered strawberry cake pops and lots of candy!
Meet Jesus Ventura: Jesus, yes that is his real name, is a sophomore, here at Pace; however, this is his first year living on campus. A vibrant blend of Mexican and Puerto Rican has blessed him with the good looks needed to be a part time model. He is from the Bronx, NY and was a star football player in high school. In his spare time, he likes to play video games and sometimes twiddles his fingers on the saxophone, which he played for 4 years. Jesus recently applied to be an RA and is waiting to find out his fate. Good Luck Jesus!

Blast from the PAST!
It was only months ago that the 6 of us met. At first, we did not truly know if we were going to get alone because we are all so different. Now, we have become one big family; looking out for one another and fighting like siblings. I love you, guys! - Kim

February in Review
Our Resident Assistants put on some great programs this month.
Our building wide event, led by RA Kelly and RA Aziza, was Alcohol Jeopardy. We
educated our residents on alcohol and alcohol facts. We had a great turn out
and the residents were more than delighted to receive their prize, a hefty
set of toilet paper.
RA Kris put on two programs this month. One of his programs was a Valentine’‛s
Day event where he had residents send messages on an online forum and hand
delivered the messages to the recipients.
Our newest addition to the staff, RA JJ – formerly from Hillside/HoJo, had a
Valentine’‛s Day event as well. He provided the residents with rocks and
supplies to paint – incase someone forgot to get their Valentine a gift.
Townhouse Staff would like to welcome….
JJ!!
We are so lucky to have this great addition to the staff! He has had a
great first month and we are looking forward to a great semester
together!

Looking Forward
As Spring approaches our Resident Assistants are preparing events that will get our residents outside to enjoy the weather! We have a s’‛mores event coming up on March 9th at 2pm. Some other events we have coming up are: egg decorating, _______________.
As always the Townhouse Staff welcomes everyone to our events!
DOW HALL
jb After the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Ann curry
asked herself “What can I do?” She went on twitter and created the 26
Acts of Kindness to honor the 20 children and six teachers that lost their
lives in the shooting. The 26 Acts of Kindness was created to not only give
back to Newtown, but to impact other communities around the world for
the better.
Dow Hall had an event and adopted the 26 Acts of Kindness in
order to help honor the people who lost their lives in Newtown. The
residents have until the day before spring break to do as many acts of
kindness as possible for good karma and a $25 gift card. Each Resident
Assistant has five specific tasks on their doors for the residents to
accomplish. The Resident Director has 26th act of kindness on her door.
Some examples of the 26Acts of Kindness are to compliment a
stranger, buy someone coffee, leave extra money in the vending machine,
and to volunteer anywhere. But the catch is not to just do good deeds, but
to also tell the person to whom you are doing it to about the reason you
are doing it and for that person to continue to do the same. If you were to
leave extra money in the vending machine, you would also add a sticky
note explaining why you left extra money so that the person would know
there was a reason behind the extra money. The residents would need to
take a picture or get a signature of the task they completed and then show
it to the RA that has that task on his or her door.
This program is not just for Dow Residents, it can be done by
everyone! Let’s all start being proactive in our communities so we can
honor the terrible tragedy in Newton and promote a better and happier
community.

WHERE DID SHE GO? - Many of you may have wondered where RA Samara was during one
week in February. RA Samara had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and teach students from Guatemala City as well as present at an International Literacy Conference. During her time there she got to meet many new people, teach children who are not as privileged as we are and experience the Amazing culture of Guatemala. “What an amazing experience it was to experience something so different and Unique” said RA Samara. Here RA Samara is helping a family make a quilt for the 1st Sunday of lent where a procession of a Jesus statue would walk about the Carpet. The families believe that this is a blessing from Jesus to watch over their family and home.

On February 20th, college universi-
ties around the country celebrated
national RA Appreciation Day. On the
Pace University Briarcliff Campus,
New Dorm celebrated their RA’s in a
very unique way.
Residents were given the opportunity
and encouraged to come to the New
Dorm lobby and make appreciation
cards for their respective RA’s. The
pro-
gram
was hosted and facilitated by New Dorm
Residence Director Stephanie Moody.
Stephanie, being a former RA herself at
Pace is familiar with the hard work and
dedication that it requires to be success-
ful in the position. Stephanie partici-
pated in the program as while by making
a card for each of the RA’s that she su-‐
pervises.
RA Appreciation Day February 20th, 2013
A NEW Appreciation in our DORM
One of the most popular ways to express affection to others in through the holiday of Valentine’s day. Al-‐
though capitalism has evolved the holiday far from the original meaning of the celebration into tradition of
buying expensive gifts, the New Dorm storm thought of a simple but effective way to show affection.
Residence were given the opportunity to make Valen-tine’s Day Card’s accompanied with candy for anyone
in the building. The New Dorm staff would then deliver the cards to the intended person. Love was definitely
in the air!!
A New way to celebrate Valentine’s Day
Independent Business Owner and Member of Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity Inc. Gerald Thompson came into New Dorm and
worked with his Fraternity Brother RA Qadry Harris to host an
income builder workshop for the Pace Students. Here is a syn-
opsis of Mr. Thompson’s presentation.
The environment, economy and the way people earn in-
come today are changing. Some use the stock market, other use
casinos, while the Y generation uses social media. With that said it
would be behoove college students to look for other options for
making money. The reality of what some graduates are facing af-
ter graduation in the job world is a tragedy.
As a marketer I assist and help the younger generation fight back against the lack of income and choices. Everyone has a dream and we all deserve the opportunity to work towards through as many avenues as possible. A job may not be enough….
