PAC-3 Unprecedented Success
• Lockheed Martin successfully conducted first Hit-To-Kill intercept in 1984
• The PAC-3 Missile is the technology pathfinder for today’s total conversion to kinetic energy interceptors – Fielded in the US Army Today – Dramatically Improves Battlespace of ‘91 Gulf War – Combat Proven in Operation Iraqi Freedom
• Lockheed Martin is the leader in Hit-To-Kill weapon systems including: PAC-3 Missile, THAAD, and the Aegis Weapon System

Hit to Kill What is Hit-to-Kill?
• “Hit to Kill” refers to destroying a threat missile with body
to body impact by the interceptor – High energy impact destroys Chemical, Nuclear, and Biological
Weapons at a safe altitude
• Prior to Hit-To-Kill, the tradition for air defense, was to try to get close enough for blast fragmentation affect
• Our accurate millimeter wave seeker increases lethality – Far more energy on the threat – Requires an extremely agile airframe
