FROG PRINCE

We have prepared a wonderful show for you, and we’re just about ready to start. At this time, we ask that you please turn off your cell phones, pagers, and all other electronic devices, and please refrain from booing, hissing, heckling the actors, food fights, and any flash photography.If you have a fear of frogs, ponds, princes or magic, this play is not for you. If this applies to you, please proceed with caution, or see yourself out through one of the emergency exits.

NARRATOR: Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful Princess. Every day she sat beside a deep pond in the forest and played with her golden ball. But one day, she dropped it into a lake.

PRINCESS: Oh, no! I lost my ball in the lake. What shall I do?

NARRATOR: The Princess started to cry, and a frog nearby heard the Princess’s sorrow.

FROG: Princess, why are you crying?

PRINCESS: I dropped my poor ball into the lake and it’s too deep down. It’s lost forever.

FROG: I know you’re sad, so I´ll get your golden ball.

PRINCESS: Really? You would do that for me?

FROG: Yes, but only if you promise to take me back to the palace and love me, let me eat from your plate, and let me sleep on your bed.

PRINCESS: What?

FROG: Yes, otherwise I will leave and you will not get your ball!

PRINCESS: No no no, wait! Yes! I promise you all you wish, if you will be so kind as to bring me my ball.

NARRATOR: As soon as the frog retrieved her ball, the Princess grabbed it and ran away. Betrayed by the Princess, the frog journeyed to the palace and called for her.

FROG: Princess, um, Princess, please open the door!

NARRATOR: Panicked, the Princess told her father, the king, everything that had happened. Her wise father advised her to keep her promise.

And now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Puppet Show, sponsored by ArtSkills, where we bring to you our production of Frog Prince.

PRINCESS: Please have the frog brought to me.

NARRATOR: As soon as the frog saw the Princess was willing to keep her end of the bargain, he was so happy. He got to eat off her plate and sleep on her bed. At first, the Princess hated having the frog around her all the time.

PRINCESS: I hate this disgusting frog!

NARRATOR: As time went on, though, she slowly became fond of the frog. It was getting late one night, and it was time to go to bed.

PRINCESS: Good night, my froggy!

FROG: Ribbit!

NARRATOR: The next morning, the Princess woke up to find that the frog was now a handsome young prince!

PRINCE: Thank you so much for taking care of me.

NARRATOR: The Prince explained that a witch had put an evil curse on him. She doomed him to live like a frog until he could meet a kind girl who would love him, let him eat from her plate, and sleep on her bed.

PRINCESS: I don´t know what to say!

PRINCE: Say you´ll marry me!

PRINCESS: Oh, yes! Yes, I will!

NARRATOR: Very soon, the Frog Prince and Princess were married and ruled the kingdom together and they lived happily ever after!
