Hedgerow to provide strong architectural form to the entrance avenue, location to respect visibility splay.
Ornamental shrub and herbaceous planting to the front of the hedgerow to provide interest adjacent to the footpath. Species chosen to add texture, form, colour and aesthetic interest to front gardens whilst creating a visually attractive entrance avenue. Planting beds designed to respect visibility with lower (40-60cm high) planting species at the edges and taller species (max 1.6m height) in the centre.
Bulb planting is overlaid within the planting beds to provide additional seasonal interest in the summer. The species (Allium sp.) are chosen to compliment the overall planting character for the entrance avenue.
Areas of ornamental gravel are proposed to the rear of the hedgerow to provide low maintenance area and enable access to the dwelling.
Avenue tree planting will provide a vertical feature along the entrance avenue within the verge. The species have been chosen to provide strong form with pyramidal shape and seasonal interest with foliage colour and flowering. Proposed trees will have a clear stem.
Verge to comprise flowering lawn with bulb planting to provide spring/summer colour and interest. Flowering lawn to present amenity grass when not in flower and be maintenance as amenity grass, with mowing regime relaxed from June to enable flowering.
Specimen Shrubs and Grasses to provide architectural form to planting areas and create additional interest to the street scene along the entrance avenue frontage.
