Hello Everyone,
I hope you all have had a great summer. I cannot believe that we are already into October and the year is almost over.
I want to thank everyone who came out for the Granada Hills Championship. We represented the Men’s Club well, and I thank you for that.
I do want to say that it was great seeing David Arnold up and about and taking a minute to talk with me on the putting green. He looks great and I am glad that he will be playing some golf soon. He rode 9 holes with the first group and looked happy to be out there.
I also want to remind you that as soon as the time changes we will not be play-ing our 9-hole skins, but we may have some putting contests or something of that sort so come on out and join us.
Also, we are going to be voting on our Board Members soon so if any of you are interested in being on the Board please reach out to one of us and let us know so that we can add your name to our incredibly huge list (actually it’s in-credibly tiny. OK not one single name is on the list. LOL)
I hope you have a great October and we’ll see you at our next tournament.

The Board discussed scheduling a date for the Annual Christmas Party and the need to keep the tradition going. The Board will research dates and plan the event, including prizes, trophy ceremonies, etc. All KMGC members will be invited and should look for future bulletins and notifications, when a date is set.
TOURNAMENTS: Jorge Camacho announced that the KMGC will have significant member participation in support of the Granada Hills Championships being held this coming weekend at Knollwood.
TREASURER’S REPORT: John Yang reviewed with the Board the August 2018 financial statements and budget for the Christmas party. After discussion, Bill Brocklebank made a motion and William Hornbeck seconded the motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, as stated.
HANDICAPS: William Hornbeck reviewed the current KMGC handicap indexes for the active members.
SOCIAL: Mike Rohn informed the Board that the KMGC bulletin board and counter area inside the pro shop is out of date and needs a makeover. The Board assigned Mike and Charles Campbell to research ideas for improving the area.
RULES: Bill Brocklebank reviewed SCGA & USGA rules for proper ball marking during tournament play.
ADJOURNMENT: John Yang made a motion and William Hornbeck seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:52 p.m.
Charles Campbell, Secretary
This month, a couple of questions the USGA answered on situations that occurred during tournament play that we may encounter.
A players ball is embedded in it’s own pitch mark in the closely mown area around the green. He took relief as provided in the rules, dropped the ball then repaired his pitch mark. Rule 13-2 says a player must not improve or allow to be improved his line of play. So was he in violation? The ruling was there is no penalty.
A player holed a putt with one hand while holding the removed flagstick in the other. Is there a penalty? Again, the answer is no.
