• Initially, “The Facebook” was only open to Harvard students.

• In March 2004, it opened to Stanford, Columbia and Yale and soon after to other Ivy League schools.

• December 2004: Facebook has a million users.

• 2005: Facebook supports more than 800 colleges and opens to high schools.

• Twitter won the festival's Web Award and tweeted "we'd like to thank you in 140 characters or less. And we just did!"

• December 2009: Company established by Ben Silbermann, Evan Sharp and Paul Sciarra of Cold Brew Labs in Palo Alto, California.

• March 2010: Pinterest launched as an invitation-only beta site in March 2010.

• Soon, it became an open beta that allowed registration via an email request.
