The National CHANGE summit is more than just attending workshops and trainings; it is

about joining a movement of committed individuals dedicated to shaping the future and

creating a fair world free of poverty and injustice. At CHANGE, you will develop the skills

needed to be agents for change in your communities, to speak for social justice and work

with Oxfam to build a gender just, prosperous and sustainable planet.

The CHANGE summit is only one stop along the way in an exciting year of action

We believe in the power of people. We believe that we can each make change and that we

can build a movement for change. Over the course of five days in September you will join a

team of 40 Oxfam activists to get ready, get planning and get prepared for the year to

come.

By attending CHANGE and working with your campus group over the year, you will lead your

community to build a movement that champions women’s rights and gender justice.

Together in September we will:

Share experiences from our Oxfam

groups

Discover your own strengths and

skills

Learn about Oxfam’s programs

Build campaigns together

Connect with Oxfam staff and

partners

Hear stories from the field

After the Summit you will:

Share your experience with your

local Oxfam community

Apply your skills to your Oxfam

group

Build the strength of your group to

advocate for women’s rights

Maintain connection with the

Oxfam youth network

As we come together at CHANGE, your knowledge and experiences will shape the Oxfam

campus groups campaigns, fundraisers and education initiatives this coming school year.

Reflect on your campus group’s experiences over the past year and the issues your

community faces.

What are your campus group’s success stories and challenges?

What interests and excites you about Oxfam’s work?

What do you want to learn more about?

Come to ottawa Get on that plane or train! Eat those snacks you packed! Read a book!

Keep your receipts and your boarding passes Make sure that you keep both the RECEIPT OF PAYMENT and the PROOF OF TRAVEL (actual bus ticket, boarding pass or train boarding pass). If you are being reimbursed by Oxfam you will not get your money without these.

Submit to oxfam and get your cash At registration for the Summit you will be asked to provide the documents mentioned above. If your reimbursement is under $100 you will receive CASH at registration. Throughout your CHANGE training process you will be supported by a team of remarkable

people committed to Oxfam Canada’s action of ending global poverty through the promotion

of women’s rights.

The Champions for Change are Oxfam all-stars ready to facilitate, communicate and take

action to tackle gender inequality! In the same way that CHANGE is just one point in the year

of campus organizing this is not the only time you will cross paths with the Champions.

They are a team designed to support your campus groups throughout the year, attending

events, helping with resources and generally acting as mentors.

Meet the Champions

For Change

Jessica Barry

Jessica has been involved with Oxfam for four years, and has played various roles

with her campus group at Memorial University of Newfoundland. This is her third

year on the National CHANGE planning committee. She loves learning about gender,

public policy, and advocacy, and currently works with Engineers Without Borders

Canada on a venture called Citizen Attaché.

Manjot bining

Manjot's been with Oxfam for three years now as a part of the U of T

Scarborough campus and a couple of CHANGE planning teams. With a love

of all things conference and Oxfam, she can't wait to see what this year's

CHANGE will grow into (pun possibly intended).

Andrew Fitzgerald

Andrew studies Anthropology at Memorial University in his hometown of St. John's,

Newfoundland and Labrador. He believes strongly in the ability of CHANGE

conferences to transform and empower youth to build a stronger organization and

to create a better world in which to live. He is thrilled that you have decided to join

us in Ottawa and can't wait to meet you!

on a venture called Citizen Attaché.

Emma Hildebrandt

Emma has been involved with Oxfam for the past year, both at the University of the Fraser Valley, and with Vancouver’s Advocacy and Outreach Committee(AOC). Having thoroughly enjoyed her time with her Oxfam campus group, what better way to continue meeting great people, and continue to work towards positive changes in our own country and across the world, than to become a Campus Campion for Change. Together, we can reach great heights, and turn big dreams in to realities!

Molly Grove

Molly is currently finishing a degree in Peace, Conflict and Justice at the

University of Toronto, where she first joined Oxfam 3 years ago! Since then

she has helped plan some National and Regional CHANGEs, and a Hunger

Banquet or two, and last year was co-president of the Oxfam UofT campus

club. Now, on to new adventures with the Oxfamily as a Champion for

Change.

Caitlyn Campbell

Caitlyn first got involved with Oxfam through the Dalhousie-Kings Campus

Club. Since then, she has worked as treasurer and co-president with the

Dal-Kings gang, as well as part of the Atlantic Regional CHANGE Content

Committee. When not discussing Oxfam or neuroscience, Caitlyn can be

found napping, eating excessive amounts of ice-cream, or snuggling her

many cats.

Economics. She’s volunteered at Oxfam's Toronto Fundraising office, and will

passionate Oxfam-mers from around the country!

on a venture called Citizen Attaché.

Jasmine Lum

Jasmine first became involved with Oxfam after joining the campus group at UBC in

2009. During her time there she has held the positions of VP Finance, VP

Administration, VP External Relations, and was also involved with the local

Vancouver Oxfam committee. Her favourite memories include planning two

Hungry4Change banquets, volunteering at the Coldplay concert, creating a video

for the Oxfam-Coldplay "In My Place" Film, and attending CHANGE 2012!

Wyatt Weir

Wyatt will be attending George Brown College for Fashion Management this

coming fall. He recently attended University of Ottawa where he became

involved with OxfamUO helping with promotion, planning and organization

of events. He is committed to pushing businesses to think differently and

act with sustainability in mind.
