Programs and Services for OWWA Member-OFWs OWWA is the lead government agency tasked to promote the welfare and well-being of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. As a membership institution, OWWA provides member-OFWs with services and benefits over and above the provisions of the employment contract, offer of employers or the laws of the receiving country. For a US$25 membership contribution, an OWWA member is entitled to the following benefits and services: HEALTH CARE, DISABILITY & HEALTH BENEFITS Health Program for OFWs (HEALTHPRO) consists of subsidized medical and hospitalization services for OFWs in response to the medical assistance needs of distressed OFWs whether they are abroad or in-country. OFW Medical Rehabilitation Program is a special health package intended to extend sustainable medical rehabilitation services for returning OFWs who are suffering from any form of mental disorder/illness or physical disability. Disability and Dismemberment Benefit entitles an OWWA member to disability/dismemberment benefit up to P50,000. Total Disability Benefit entitles an OWWA member to a benefit of P100,000 in case of total permanent disability. Death Benefit entitles an OWWA member to a benefit, payable to his/her designated beneficiary, of P100,000 for the duration of his employment contract for death due to natural cause, and P200,000 for death due to accident. TRAINING & EDUCATION BENEFITS 1. Pre-Departure Education Program (PDEP) provides for mandatory orientation/training for all departing migrant workers. The components of the PDEP include: A. Comprehensive Pre-Departure Education Program (CPDEP) for household service workers, where classes on language training, culture familiarization and stress management for the OFWs are conducted to prepare them for their new life overseas. B. Country-specific Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for OFWs bound for Canada and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), presenting a comprehensive module with sessions on contract familiarization, profile of the country of destination, stages of the OFW’s life, health, safety, airport procedures and government programs. 2. Skills-for-Employment Scholarship Program (SESP) for short-term (up to two years) vocational or technician’s course for OFWs and their dependents. A maximum of P14,500 per course shall be provided to the qualified OFW or beneficiary/dependent. 3. Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) is for 4- to 5-year baccalaureate courses.     Programs and Services for OWWA Member-OFWs

    OWWA is the lead government agency tasked to promote the welfare and well-being of overseas Filipino workers(OFWs) and their families.

    As a membership institution, OWWA provides member-OFWs with services and benefits over and above theprovisions of the employment contract, offer of employers or the laws of the receiving country.

    4. ODW Dependents Scholarship Program (OFWDSP) provides a financial assistance of P20,000 per year to poor butdeserving dependents of OFWs with a monthly salary of not more than US$400 per month. Qualifiers enroll in afour- to five-year baccalaureate or associate course leading to a baccalaureate or associate degree in a statecollege or university.

    5. Seafarers Comprehensive Education and Training Program is an OWWA stop-gap measure in response to themaritime industrys high demand for seafarers and the enhancement of competency for officer positions, to ensureconsiderable supply of seafarers in the mid-management level and secure the place of our sea-based OFWs in theindustry.

    A. Seafarers Upgrading Program (SUP) is in the form of training assistance of up to P7,500 for qualifiedseafarers for every three membership contributions.

    B. Mariners Dugtong-Aral is a scholarship grant given to qualified graduates of B.S. Mechanical Engineering andB.S. Electrical Engineering who wish to become Marine Officers through referrals by manning agencies.

    C. Incentive Program for Top 200 Maritime Cadets is a financial inventive to the top 200 cadets of B.S. MarineTransportation as part of the education for development scholarship program of OWWA for prospective OWWAmembers.

    D. Maritime Educational Development Loan Program (MEDLOP) for Prospective Marine Officers and EngineersWith Guaranteed International Onboard Employment (Study Now, Pay Later scheme) is an interest-free financialassistance to defray costs of tertiary education of prospective Marine Officers and Engineers.

    6. OWWA-Microsoft Tulay is a free information and communication technology (ICT) package offering skillstraining, access to technology and communication via the Internet.

    7. Tuloy Aral Project (TAP) is an educational assistance through US$100 financial support to augment the schoolingneeds of less fortunate elementary and high school children of former OFWs.

    Tuloy-Kolehiyo is an extension of TAP to include beneficiaries in the tertiary level leading to either an associate orbaccalaureate degree.

    WORKERS ASSISTANCE & ON-SITE SERVICES

    Locating the whereabouts of OFWs, providing information and guidance, counseling and conciliation services,medical and legal assistance, community organization, workplace and hospital visitation are among the servicesand assistance extended to member OFWs posted at work sites abroad.

    Repatriation Program includes negotiation with employers and agents, repatriation of distressed workers, humanremains and belongings, airport assistance, OWWA Halfway House accommodation, and coordination with familiesthrough the OWWA Regional Welfare Offices (RWOs).

    SOCIAL SERVICES & FAMILY WELFARE ASSISTANCE

    Reintegration Program is a program for member OFWs economic and social reintegration through businesscounseling, community organizing, financial literacy seminars, networking with support institutions, socialpreparation programs and livelihood loans.
