This deliverable will provide the state of the art of current networks and grid infrastructures with respect to remote instrumentation.

D3.2 Status of grid middleware and corresponding emerging standards for potential usage in sharing scientific instruments via (international) networks – month 7. (Report)

This deliverable will define and evaluate user requirements in terms of Grid infrastructure and software in network.

D3.3 Summary of requirements and needs to be currently fulfilled to efficiently introduce the remote instrumentation idea into practice - month 9 (Report)

Final report will present the summary of the guidelines, good practices, requirements needed for the deployment of infrastructures for remote instrumentation systems.

D4.1 Virtual research laboratories in Europe and third-party countries: from the current state of the art towards the future technologies according to users’ expectations – month 12 (Report,Publication)

This deliverable will aim to provide a survey on the differences between users’ expectations and the current state of the art with regard to the utilisation of remote instrumentation services. Current issues concerning virtual laboratories and remote instrumentation control will be highlighted in the deliverable. Requirements for future technologies will be identified.

D4.2 Influence of the remote instrumentation trends on the development of the network infrastructure and grid services – month 10 (Report, Publication)

This deliverable will analyse the evolution of grid and network infrastructures with respect to remote instrumentation services and virtual laboratories deployment. Advantages and drawbacks of current grid services when applied to remote instrumentation services will be clearly pointed out. Moreover, the main features of grid middleware which allows users to access remote instrumentation in a seamless manner will be identified.

D6.1 Report on prototype preparation and user experiences - month 16 (Report)

Deliverable D6.1 will report the testbed implementation procedures, documenting any issues that were raised during this phase. Then, it will include information on the way that applications are expected to be executed, and will conclude with user experiences as they were reported after evaluating the testbed.

D6.2 Report on requirements verification and final recommendations - month 18 (Report)

Deliverable D6.2 will use the input from D6.1 and the results of WP2, WP3 and WP4, in order to come up with a final, complete and coherent set of requirements and recommendations for instrumentation grid infrastructures.

M6.1 Prototype design – month 13By M13 the prototype test benches will be designed, including guidelines for application deployment.

M6.2 Test benches deployment – month 14By M14 the prototype test benches will be deployed with middleware and applications, ready for user communities to execute their applications and access relevant instrumentation.

M6.3 User experiences documentation – month 16By M16 the users will have finished experimenting with the test benches, and will have provided feedback, based on which D6.1 will be written.

M6.4 Final recommendations produced – month 18Two months after the release of D6.1, the release of D6.2 will follow to mark the end of the project and provide a cohesive list of recommendations for future instrumentation grids.
