New Fundraising Initiatives to replace Resale Boutique $ 2010 committee formed to research and present new fundraising

Our Prior Community SupportChildren’s Literacy 10-year Achievements (2000-2010):

Provided 995 volunteer placements; 29,500 volunteer hours served

Secured 33 Community Partners 765K books were collected through Hooked On Books Provided over $1.3M in funding

We rotate all our volunteer positions, including leaders, every 12 months

We start with a blank slate each year for community partners

Community Endowment Fund

Short-Term/Immediate Financial Assistance

The Community Endowment Fund Committee offers short-term, immediate financial assistance to community agencies in the Greater Kansas City area in critical need

Critical needs may include, but are not limited to:◦unbudgeted expenses◦sudden loss of funding◦new programs

Size & Scope

Maximum grant amount is $5,000

Annually provide $40,000-$50,000 in grants; see handout for examples of grants given

Applications are evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis from June 1 through May 31 (or until grant money is depleted)

What We Need From YouCompleted 2-Page Grant Application;

When to Expect Our Response

We aim to have an answer to you within 60 days

However, we cannot begin evaluating your application until we have all the completed information

Grant Follow-up

After a Grant is given, we require the following:

Written follow-up within 60 days detailing how the grant money was used

Receipts for durable goods may be requested

Work with us to include Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri logo on any printed literature or displays funded by our grant

2010-2011: 50 applications requesting 904 volunteers and $447,998 in funding

2009-1010: 80 applications requesting 600 volunteers and $900,000 in funding

Short-term (“Done In A Day”) projects: 1-3 day projects 3-4 hour shifts

Many times we can provide volunteers for multiple shifts.
