We believe that the body which is raised in the resurrection is a spiritual body; therefore the choice for either burial or cremation is appropriate in the Presbyterian faith. While either means may be chosen with confidence, the practice of cremation is becoming more widespread in that it is theologically and ecologically sound, as well as good stewardship. D E S C R I P T I O NPurpose

The Kirk of Kildaire Columbarium and Memorial Garden is designed as a place of rest, meditation, and prayer, and to serve as an appropriate site for interment of human ash remains for any of God’s people. The Garden will stand as a reminder that those who went before us are not forgotten. It is hoped that this valued addition to the Kirk community will inspire reverence for this life and hope for the life to come.

ReservationsAn application may be requested and submitted to reserve a specific niche(s) for future use. A certificate will be issued, for each niche or the right to scatter ashes, upon payment.

All requests for the reservation of the niche(s) or for the scattering rights must be named on the application and confirmed on the certificate.

Plaque of RemembranceNameplates of those that have had their ashes or remains placed in the Memorial Garden will be added to and displayed on the Plaque of Remembrance.

Plaque of DedicationFor those who want to have the name of a loved one, or themselves, as part of the memorial garden, but whose ashes or remains are not in the garden, the Dedication Plaque will bear their names

Located at the southeast corner of the Kirk’s main sanctuary, the garden will transform the area.  There are memorial opportunities within the garden for sculptures, a fountain, and benches. The garden will have a wall for niches, and be appointed with plaques that will list those that have had their ashes placed in the garden, or will list those whose remains are elsewhere, but want to be named in the Kirk’s garden as well.
