Overall class reflection:

The course was very useful, because it gave me essential keys to becoming an exceptional teacher in the future.

Firstly, I learned the different techniques used for teaching skills. Through the activities presented by my classmates in each presentation, I could acquire new ideas that will later be conducted in practice. In addition, each class was special, because it was very well organized the lead in activities were very interesting to me as university student, but I'm sure that the activities will be motivating to my teen students. Obviously they must be adapted. I would imitate write the agenda down at the beginning of class, I think it's a way to contextualize the students and this practice will be useful, especially in the English course. On the other hand, the course helped me to learn a wide range of techniques and learning strategies such as social, affective, compensatory, mnemonic, cognitive and metacognitive strategies and discover my learning styles.

I believe this will greatly benefit my future students, because by studying methodologies, I will be able to identify the most convenient way of learning style of my students. It was also essential to integrate the skills and use them in models such as theme based instruction, task based, content based instruction among others. It was interesting to analyze the models used in the Chilean educational context, subdividing into the three most common types of establishments, public, subsidized and private schools. Furthermore, teaching methodologies are chosen based on their effective implementation.

I think that teachers who teach in secondary must be very careful in developing mental abilities, so that students can practice these skills in the most profitable way. Given the fact that English teachers are in charge of different courses with different levels of proficiency, it is essential to know what resources must be used, taking into account the most appropriate for each level. Therefore, it is crucial to denote the selecting materials, the authenticity of them, and the skills to assess the effectiveness and so on.

Finally, it was significant to know the guidelines by different authors such as Brown, Allen and Ur on the professional development. It is important to want to be a good teacher of a second language and want to make a contribution to learning and development of students. I believe that the teacher should be an agent of change, promoting not only thought, but also action, and gradually he/she will become a professional.
