T he theme for this weeks study and worship services challenges us with the question, Whom will God use?The answer to this question today, is actually quite simple – the Church. By that I mean each member of the church, not just the minister, or the Elders, or professional evangelists, but everyone. In the language of Isaiah, we are all called as Gods people to be Gods servants. We are all called to pro-actively serve the desires and purposes of God. The Apostle Paul tells us, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving(Col 3:23-24). Nicky Gumbel picks up on this theme, All true followers of Jesus Christ long for God to use them. If revival is coming we long to be part of it. How can we be involved? How can we be his servants? These are two very good questions that, I m sure, will be asked by many in the weeks ahead as we hunger for, and actively pursue revival. The thing we all need to re- member is this; we do all have a part to play. For some it may be an upfrontposition, but these roles are no more important than the supporting roles that provide the foundation and framework of the plans and purposes to which God is calling us. Many of those doing the study, found the following reflec- tion particularly encouraging: All of us who are members of the church have the potential to be used by God in revival. In his essay The Twelve Men”, which comments on the British jury system, G. K. Chesterton wrote, 'Whenever our civilization wants a library to be cata- logued, or a solar system discovered, or any other trifle of this kind, it uses up its specialists. But when it wishes anything done which is really serious, it collects twelve of the ordinary men standing around. The same thing was done, if I remember right, by the Founder of Christianity.(p. 52) In Gods economy, there are no ordinarypeople, because we all have the awesome honour and duty of serving an extraordi- nary God. God needs you! Revival is coming, and we all have an important part to play in it. Grace and Peace – Ps. Graham Huth

The Heart of Revival Week 2

Whom will God use?

T he theme for this week’s study and worship services challenges us with the question, ‘Whom will God use?’ The answer to this question today, is actually quite simple – the Church. By that I mean each member of

the church, not just the minister, or the Elders, or professional evangelists, but everyone. In the language of Isaiah, we are all called as God’s people to be God’s servants. We are all called to pro-actively serve the desires and purposes of God. The Apostle Paul tells us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Col 3:23-24).

Nicky Gumbel picks up on this theme, “All true followers of Jesus Christ long for God to use them. If revival is coming we long to be part of it. How can we be involved? How can we be his servants?” These are two very good questions that, I’m sure, will be asked by many in the weeks ahead as we hunger for, and actively pursue revival. The thing we all need to re-member is this; we do all have a part to play. For some it may be an ‘upfront’ position, but these roles are no more important than the supporting roles that provide the foundation and framework of the plans and purposes to which God is calling us. Many of those doing the study, found the following reflec-tion particularly encouraging:

All of us who are members of the church have the potential to be used by God in revival. In his essay “The Twelve Men”, which comments on the British jury system, G. K. Chesterton wrote, 'Whenever our civilization wants a library to be cata-logued, or a solar system discovered, or any other trifle of this kind, it uses up its specialists. But when it wishes anything done which is really serious, it collects twelve of the ordinary men standing around. The same thing was done, if I remember right, by the Founder of Christianity.”(p. 52)

In God’s economy, there are no ‘ordinary’ people, because we all have the awesome honour and duty of serving an extraordi-nary God. God needs you! Revival is coming, and we all have an important part to play in it.

Grace and Peace – Ps. Graham Huth

GO Group lunch in August

Go group will be attending the Seniors Luncheon hosted each year by the Townsville

City Council. This year it will be held on Thursday 23 August 10.30am—1.30pm. If

you are interested in joining the group and attending, please let Ron Quelch or Vi

Radcliffe know as soon as possible.

The Next Step...........

The work of the Heathy Church Task Group has sparked a movement at AUC that is calling us to take the next step. In response to that call a small team of passionate people recently met to discuss the opportunity to revision and reshape our church.

Today our newly formed Next Step Team will be presenting their ‘Sunday Afternoon Proposal’ to you. It is a proposal that seeks to engage the whole of church through a fresh and innovative approach to ministry that is faith-building (discipleship), God-honouring (worship) and mission-centered (Outreach).

It really will change the way we ‘do church’ here at AUC. Listen carefully to the pro-posal and complete a brief survey with open and honest feedback. This is the next step for the whole of AUC and we want to ensure that we are moving forward together.

Youth Group News Youth Group kicked off for term 3 with an outdoor movie night at Riverway. We watched a fun animation called "Richard the Stork" which was all about the importance of family, friends and believing in yourself. This was followed by a documentary called "The Staging Post" which followed an amazing refugee community in Indonesia which refused to give up on being posi-tive and focused on what that could do for their community. Amazing stories of faith, strength and courage. For our next youth group gathering on the 3rd of August, we delve into a creative re-enactment of the Cinderella story - with a twist. Stay tuned for more (including photos hope-fully!). Please pray for our Northern Madness Presbytery Camp which will be held during the next school holidays, on beautiful Magnetic Island. Pray for the organising, leaders, preparing the hearts of all who come to be ready and open to hear what God has in store for us.

Roster Planning Can you believe it? It's that time again - ROSTER time. Where is the year going?

A huge thank you to those who are faithfully serving, every week, on our many rosters. If you are interested in finding out how you can participate in this way, please see Kate (10.15) or Graham. For the 8.30 crew Those people who usually organise the names for 8.30, please give me the new names by Sunday the 12th of August.

For the 10.15 crew Please see the blank dates/roster at the church entrance and fill in the dates where you're able to help, next to your role. Please also fill in if there are weeks where you know you are away. Naomi can you please do your music leader roster again?
