WHAT TEACHERS SAY:
“The Guthrie-Smith Education Centre is a fantastic resource that is found in our backyard. It provides a wide variety of activities set at various levels of challenge, involving activities to develop team building, personal challenge, fun and environmental education.
Taradale Intermediate utilised the Arboretum for a whole school environmental education focus in 2013 and the children were fascinated learning all about the trees from around the world. The signage around the walkway was bright and informative and placed at regular intervals to initiate discussion and questions. The teacher resource that has been developed around the Arboretum provides excellent pre and post teaching opportunities.”
Kirsten Demanser-Wilson, Taradale Intermediate School
WHAT THE STUDENTS SAY:
“I think the high ropes is really good because it gives me energy and fitness. I felt safe, happy and positive. My best thing was flying in the air, climbing and walking on the wires.” Sim Dhillon.
“The high ropes is really good to do because it gives me the confidence and it pushes me to try my best. I’m not a huge fan of heights but I still did it to the best of my ability. I also did most of the activities and it was a fun and challenging day.” Joel Burdon.
