Mains Failure Changeover Options

• An ATS is installed by an electrician between your electricity meter and the consumer unit. In the event of a power cut, the ATS will start the generator and connect it to the building. When the mains power resumes, the ATS will reconnect the building to the mains and switch off the generator.

• Pros: Will work unattended. Has battery charger to ensure generator battery is always fully charged.

• With a manual mains changeover switch, in the event of a power cut, just start up the generator and flick the changeover switch to connect the building electrics to the generator. When the mains power resumes, switch the changeover switch back to mains supply and turn the generator off.

• Pros: Very simple and reliable. Low cost.
