Luxury Patio Furniture: Indoor Vs. OutdoorWhen it comes to home furniture, there's specific items for theindoors, furniture for the outdoors, but there's also furniture forsun and Florida rooms. While it's pretty easy to tell indoorversus outdoor types apart, being able to tell what luxury patiofurniture works for sunrooms versus outdoor patio, deck andbackyard furniture is not as simple a matter.
Let's start with indoor patio sets. Luxury patio furniture forsunrooms and Florida rooms does not need to be as sturdy asoutdoor furniture, but because it is more open to the elementsthan indoor furniture it must be slightly more durable. There isa small risk of wind damage depending on how open the roomis, but more importantly, as the name implies, a sunroom is usually open on three to four sides to the sun,which leads to fading, concentrated heat and dry air. Try and avoid brightly saturated colors and dark colors.Whites work best and will not feel as hot to the touch. Light colors also work to reflect the cheeriness of theroom.
For regular furniture like table and chair sets, stick to synthetic and durable materials. However, wicker isalso a very popular choice. The lightweight woven fibers are elegant and comfortable, especially when pairedwith a plush cushion. Cheap pieces can easily be obtained, or for luxury patio furniture that won't fall apart,

Even clawless felines can inflict a lot of damage on the fragile strands. Light-colored softwoods are another pleasant addition for table and chair sets, as well as breakfast nooks. Woodsare less likely to warp and rot than if left outside, so they do not necessarily need to be finished, but they arestill subject to fading and blistering paint from the direct sunlight. If teak is your wood of choice, make surenot to over oil, as this type of wood already produces natural oils. Over oiling can turn the beautiful woodblack. As far as side accents to a sunroom, ottomans and side tables are common. The latter can be madefrom any type of metal, since there is not risk of rusting from rainwater and dew.
Outdoor Patio Sets must obviously be the strongest furniture because of its exposure to the elements.Furniture must be weather-resistant and usually sealed because of the following risks: warping, rotting,rusting, and molding. In general, wicker luxury patio furniture does not hold up nearly as well as it doesindoors. There are however models specially designed for outdoor uses which employ a strong resin coatingand rust-resistant aluminum frames. Teak is a particularly good choice because it is one of the strongestwoods out there, produces its own protective oils, requires little maintenance and has an attractive grain andlight blonde to caramel coloration. Other common woods found in outdoor sets include cedar and pine, whichalso hold up well against the elements. As far as adding cushions to make chairs more comfortable,cushions must be outdoor-specific, meaning they practically waterproof and easy to wipe down. Thoughcoarser than and not quite as comfortable as their indoor counterparts, these types won't easily mold or fallapart. As a rule, try and bring all furniture into storage at the end of fall or in particularly bad conditions. If youcan't do that, cover furniture with nylon waterproof tarps.

How to spray paint fiberglass wicker patio furniture?My mom got a great deal on a fiberglass wicker-like table and chair set (outdoor patio set). She wants to paint it, butI’m not sure how to go about it…It’s in great condition, just needs sprucing up from the putty color it currently is. Do Iuse spray paint? Semi Gloss and a brush? HELP!

wicker will eventually get mildew, wood is good if it’s redwood, metal is probably the best especially wrought iron.

rid of them. The only thing I need are cushions…but Im on a pretty tight budget and everywhere Ive looked the pricesseem pretty steep. Are there any places that sell all weather-cushions that are reasonably cheap (but at the sametime not cheaply made)?

What type of paint should I use to paint an aluminum patio set?I need a paint that will hold up to chipping and fading in a wet climate for an outdoor aluminum patio table. I want it tomatch some chairs that were purchased from a different set.

Where can I find inexpensive nice looking patio furniture? ?I’m looking for a nice outdoor patio set for my balcony, preferably two deep seating chairs with thick cushions and alove seat. I’m wanting it to be under or around 300 though, anyone know of a place that sells quality at a good price?
Everything I’ve found has been 1,000+!

How to do I protect outdoor patio furniture w/cushions?We just bought a patio set which includes thick chair cushions. They say they have been treated to be water repellant.Do we need to move them every time it rains? What else should I do to protect the padding? Thanks.

The padding is also designed to be fast drying, but if it is going to rain Friday night or Saturday morning and youknow you’re going to use it Saturday afternoon, it might not dry fast enough for you.
Being water repellent and fast drying are certainly a help, but they still tend to get a bit dirty out there. If I’m notgoing to be using them during the work week, I take them in and put them back on the weekend. If you notice aftera few months that they are not as water repellent as they were, you can buy a spray can of the repellent to renew.

I think you mean an umbrella and those are available anywhere patio furniture is sold. A canopy is something thatwould be attached to your home and unroll over the patio. There are companies that offer these and they wouldhave to be professionally installed.

Patio / outdoor furniture?I cant afford outdoor furniture…I have looked every where and its so expensive (400 and up) is there anything else Ican use for patio furniture…any ideas. We live in Oklahoma and I love the warm weather. Could I use a futon..or wouldit rust? If I brought the mattress in at the evenings…I feel bad that my family cant enjoy sitting outside, but at themoment we just don’t have extra money for a patio set…i have even looked on craigslist and everyone that is sellingtheirs wants 350 and up for used stuff…any ideas at all would be helpful and please don’t be rude
Whenever I go to Rite Aid or pretty much any drug store around here, they have those stackable resin chairs outfront for like $10 each. They also have resin patio tables for about $30 and umbrellas for about $30. They alsohave powder coated metal frame with glass top end tables for about $20 each. If you want chaise lounges, peopleare selling those aluminum-framed with plastic webbing vintage ones on eBay for about $25 each.
For a larger area of shade, you can also find deals on about a 10 foot square easy-up for less than $50.
Regarding a futon, you could probably put one outside. But, with the humidity in Oklahoma, it may rust fairlyquickly. Especially if you left it out in a rain or hailstorm. When you buy a futon mattress, however, it usually comessealed in a plastic bag. I would leave this on the mattress for increased moistrure protection.

Teak outdoor furniture attracting bees?We just bought an outdoor patio set that is made out of teak wood. For some reason an assortment of bees such aswasps and yellow jackets are attracted to it. There is no nest under the table or anything. What makes them soinfatuated with the furniture, and how should I get rid of them? I’ve tried spraying wasp and hornet spray at them butthey still come back…

I had a similar problem but we had a nest under the a chair. Once that was removed we didn’t have any problems.Double check all the furniture for a hive, it might be tucked in a corner under a chair or really just really small. The

only other thing I can think of is that they are attracted to the oil that was used to finish the furniture. You may wantto try rinsing the furniture off and lightly scrub or wipe it down to see if that helps.
