2017 OUTAGAMIE COUNTY HCE PROGRAM BOOK

PLEASE KEEP FOR THE ENTIRE 2017 YEAR!

CHANGE: Change can be defined in many different ways.

VERB• make or become different:• make or become a different substance entirely; transform: • alter in terms of...

NOUN• the act or instance of making or becoming different: • the substitution of one thing for another: • an alteration or modification: • a new or refreshingly different experience:

The pages that follow are your 2017 Outagamie County HCE Program book. Yes, it looks different, it reads different and it is different! At our fall Executive Board and Association meeting we discussed the changing times, reduced resources and how we could better accommodate and stretch our resources.

It was determined we would have the program book take a different format. We will not have a newsletter six times a year – rather quarterly. The program book will serve as the first notification/newsletter of the year of upcoming events. KEEP THIS BOOKLET all year long!

The next newsletter will come out in Spring 2017 with updates and additions to programs and meetings. In between we will be sharing via emails and other means of communication to share updates concerning the organization.

We welcome your comments and reactions to the change!

Sincerely,

Outagamie County HCE Executive Board

What is HCE? (Home and Community Education)

How many times have you been asked that question? I think we have all heard the question a number of times. In an effort to give you a short, quick, answer for that question, we have written a few suggestions for you.

1. HCE is a non-profit organization that partners with UW-ExtensionFamily Living Programs, at both the state and county level, to bringquality educational programming to our members and ourcommunities.

2. WAHCE is a statewide organization with a written agreement withUW-Extension Family Living Programs to provide qualityprogramming to our members and communities. In our countyorganizations we work with our Family Living Educator and look tothat person for advice.

3. One of the past deans of UW-Extension, Carl O’Connor, called HCEand UW-Extension “a long and successful partnership.” He said.“This organization represents the spirit of sharing and communityinvolvement that makes Wisconsin a better place to live for all of us.”We work with the Family Living Educators who guide us in thatservice to our members and our communities.
