featuring flying burlesque dancers, trapeze artists, and carnival sideshow antics that add mesmerizingvisuals to the quartet’s hard-rock fury. Stephen Perkins adds his usual flare and tom-heavy approachto well-known tracks such as “Mountain Song” and “Stop!”

Skillet Rise

Two-time Grammy-nominated hard rockers Skillet have released their first new albumsince 2009’s platinum-certified Awake. Drummer and occasional singer Jen Ledger continues heraggressive and thrashing style on the record, including the lead single “Sick Of It.”

Dio Magica

Ronnie James Dio’s 2000 album Magica has been reissued as a two-CD deluxe package. The original concept album can be found on the first disc, including standout cuts such as “FeverDreams” and “Turn To Stone.” Diehard Dio fans will appreciate the second CD, as it includes “TheMagica Story” narrated by Ronnie James Dio himself, as well as bonus tracks not on the originalrecording. Drummer Simon Wright holds down the metal grooves on the album.

Kikoski, Carpenter, Novak, Sheppard From the Hip

On May 21, 2006, Rising Jazz Stars Foundation president George Klabin gathered fourpremier musicians to put on a jazz-standards performance in his private Beverly Hills studio. A liveaudience witnessed the event, and that performance can now be heard on CD. Pianist David Kikoskiwas joined by sax player Bob Sheppard, the late Dave Carpenter on bass, and the great Gary Novak(Chick Corea, George Benson, Natalie Cole) on drums.

Yellowjackets A Rise In the Road

The jazz maestros continue their decorated thirty-two-year career with a new album, theirsecond on Mack Avenue Records. The Grammy-winning band now features bassist Felix Pastorius, son of the late bass legend with Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius. Drummer Will Kennedy, who’s onboard for the second Yellowjackets album since returning to the group after an eleven-year hiatus, says, “As opposed to a detriment, [Pastorius replacing long-time bassist Jimmy Haslip] was more ofan opportunity for us to grow and expand with a different combination of voices within our group.”

Moon Hooch Moon Hooch

Moon Hooch has re-released its debut album—previously only available at the group’slive shows—with new artwork and an additional song called “Megatubes,” the only track on thealbum that includes vocals. The trio, which consists of saxophonists Mike Wilbur and WenzlMcGowen and drummer James Muschler, uses live instruments to create jagged and raw dancemusic, calling their approach “cave music.” Busking performances on subway platforms, amongother unusual “venues,” have brought them some notoriety, though the band just wrapped up a moreconventional tour supporting They Might Be Giants.
