our world wonder iguassu falls

1
Last December my father got home with some great news for us: he had booked a one-week holiday at the Sheraton Hotel, right at the centre of Iguassu National Park, overlooking the waterfalls! Located at the far north-east of our country, and bordering with Brazil and Paraguay –the so-called “triple frontier”, it is a marvelous natural spectacle with 275 waterfalls among luxurious vegetation and full of wildlife. It offers such a magnificent view that it was named a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site and later it was chosen as one of the new World’s National Wonders. Visitors can get immersed in this wildlife sanctuary by using its many walkways and even be taken for a ride in a rubber dinghy very close to the Devil’s Throat, the deepest one. .. but they’d better be warned that they will get terribly wet! For the not that adventurous, there is a train to be taken on the Argentinian side which takes you to a viewing platform very close to the Throat. You can also take a helicopter flight over the falls, although it is said that these frighten and scare the wild species of birds away… You’d better have your camera ready, the local coatis , macaws and toucans might come across you! Alternatively, you could choose a river boat ride and admire all of this magic environment. Last but not least, if you get the chance, you must not miss the walk under a full moon that is taken in the evening from the Sheraton Hotel. Visitors must not leave without visiting the technological and ecological wonder of Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam, which supplies 95% of Paraguay’s electric energy and 19% of Brazilian consumption. We wanted to go to the nearby “ciudad del Este”, a place full of shops and street vendors on the frontier, but dad wouldn’t hear of it, as he had heard it was terribly unsafe for a family. Anyway, it didn’t matter, as we enjoyed the hotel pool and tropical bar. I would definitely recommend this holiday for anyone who enjoys nature and wildlife… and doesn’t mind getting wet! by Maria Our World Wonder: IGUASSU FALLS

• Last December my father got home with some great news for us: he had booked a one-week holiday at the Sheraton Hotel, right at the centre of Iguassu National Park, overlooking the waterfalls! Located at the far north-east of our country, and bordering with Brazil and Paraguay –the so-called “triple frontier”, it is a marvelous natural spectacle with 275 waterfalls among luxurious vegetation and full of wildlife.

• It offers such a magnificent view that it was named a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site and later it was chosen as one of the new World’s National Wonders.

• You can also take a helicopter flight over the falls, although it is said that these frighten and scare the wild species of birds away… You’d better have your camera ready, the local coatis, macaws and toucans might come across you! Alternatively, you could choose a river boat ride and admire all of this magic environment.
