    DON'T BURN THELEAVES IN GUTTERS

Reports have begun to reach theborough authorities that residentsarc beginning to dispose of fallenlea\'es by burning them in theiryards and in t he g ut te rs . T he reis a borough ordinance which prohibits the burning of leaves on thepublic s tree ts or in the gutters.and they cannot be burned insideproperty lines without the securing of a p er mi t fro m t he chi ef o fthe Fire Department.

People who burn leaves in thegutters in front of their propertiesare very likely to crack and damagl' the cllrb, rendering themselvesliable to receive an order from theborough to ins ta ll a new curb attheir own expense.

The highway authorities of theb or ou gh o bj ec t s tr on gl y to th eburning of leaves in the streetsbecause the heat of the fire meltsthe top dressing on the streets andresults in permanent injury. Thepolicemen, therefore, will be instructed to see that the ordinanceagainst burning leaves is strictlyenforced, and people who do notheed i t a fter this public warning ,may find themselves in trouble.

The borough t rucks, on theirweekly rounds for the collectionofashes, will carry away all leaveswhich are put in boxes or barre lsa nd l eft where t he b oro ug h collectors can conveniently get them. This service will be continued by
