Doucette A Valentine Variety Show. Our Holiday Singers will also perform. There will be a
special prize for the couple attending who have been married the longest (no past win-

April 5th. Appointments are a must; call 781-396-6010. Please bring to your appointment
a copy of last years tax return and 2017 documents. Identity Theft continues to be a nation-
wide problem. Consequently, all taxpayers and spouses WILL need to bring a photo ID to
verify their identity. Additionally, taxpayers WILL need to bring their Social Security card
or other documents issued by the Social Security Administration such as the SSA-1099
(which shows the social security pension for the year ). No schedule C, complicated D, or E
forms will be prepared. Very important counselors will only have computer access to last
years tax returns if your tax return was prepared by AARP. If interested in the annual state
income tax credit (Circuit Breaker) of up to $1070; for homeowners bring documentation of
your annual income, property tax valuation, property taxes paid, and paid water and sewer

If you missed the open enrollment time to change Medicare Part D Plans, you may still be able to change your drug plan. As a member of Prescription Advantage, the State Pharmacy Program, you have the opportunity to change your plan once more during the year. You may apply for enrollment in Prescription Advantage at any time. Also, if you are enrolled in a HMO or PPO Medicare Advantage Plan, you have until February 14, 2018 to change your plan by disenrolling from it and enrolling in a stand alone Part D plan and a medigap insurance plan. You also have the opportunity to change, if you enroll in a five star Stand Alone Prescription Drug Plan or a five star Medicare Advantage Plan. Please contact me for more information. 781-396-6010.

The City of Medford is happy to offer on loan the M5 Mortice Rapid Entry System (commonly known as a Lock
Box). The Lock Box program is intended to provide Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
access to your residence in the event of an emergency when you are unable to open the door. A Key to your resi-
dence will be stored in a secure metal storage device, similar to a realtor’s lock box, at your residence. There is
a $15.00 fee that is refundable upon return of the box. The Lock box is requested through the Medford Senior
Center at 781-396-6010. Seniors who are 60+ or adults with disability may request an application. Federal
low—income guidelines are also required to apply .

Senior Center will be closed on Monday, February 19th to observe Presidents Day
NOTICE: Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation. Tickets are non-refundable. For com-
plete details about trips hosted by Medford Senior Center, including participant responsibility, a
comprehensive Trip Policy outline is posted at the Senior Center and copies available upon re-
quest. All participants are required to have Emergency Contact Information on them
throughout the trip. Wallet sized File of Life packets are available free, in the office
for your convenience! Some trips are funded in part though a CDBG Grant. Parking
for our motor coach day trips will be behind the Hyatt Hotel on Riverside Ave-
nue where you will meet the tour escort for special parking flyers, and also be advised on
where to park. Any questions please inquire in the COA office.
EXERCISE AND WEEKLY CLASSES
Zumba/Fitness Classes Mondays and Wednesdays
with Emily Brenner Zumba Gold ® Mondays at 10:00am takes the Zumba
formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the
needs of the active older member. Cost is $5.00 per
class drop in. No class Feb 19th
Dance Fitness/Yoga Dance Wednesdays at 10:00am
combines Yoga, dance, breath and energy with great
music. This class brings tons of fun and healing to
body, mind and spirit. Cost is $3 per class.
YOGA CLASSES - ROSA BROWN Mondays
$3.00 per class No Classes Feb 19th
Gentle Yoga ~ 12:45pm for those who want seated,
standing, and floor yoga poses. This is an amazing
group of seniors who are willing to stretch in every
way, and able to get down on the floor.
Chair Yoga ~ 2:00pm, seated and standing yoga poses
that are adapted to the needs of the group. We stretch,
strengthen, challenge our balance, and take time to re-
lax.
LINE DANCING for fun and fitness
with instructor Charlotte - Tues-
days, from 10:00am to 11:00am $3.00
per person, all levels of dance are wel-
come. Have fun learning some new
moves.
Strength & Balance —with Nancy K Free Wednes-
days 1 hour class with our instructor Nancy. Focus on
your strength and balance. Use of light
weights, seated chair program for begin-
ners as well, TIME 1:15pm to 2:15pm.

Tai Chi Chi Kung with Marie Favorito
- Fridays starting at 9:45am. Tai chi is an ancient
Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful
form of exercise. It involves a series of movements per-
formed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by
deep breathing. Drop In $5.00 per class.
Walking Club —Will resume in the Spring
Senior Memoir Class will begin on Tuesday, April
3rd from 10:00am to 12:00noon. A new six week free
memoir writing class with Judah Leblang. Sign up for
a seat today.
KNIT & CROCHET FREE Tuesdays,

Dolores for Crochet and Jean for knitting in
creating some beautiful handmade crea-
tions.
Art Open Studio– Thursdays 1:00pm—3:00pm FREE
class will offer an artist the opportunity to join a talent-
ed group and the rule is BYOS (bring your own sup-
plies)! Relaxing coloring therapy, acrylics, charcoals,
whatever medium you choose that stimulates your crea-
tivity, along with wonderful conversation and idea ex-
change can be found in this
class.
CERAMICS: with Rosemary
Ardagna from Claydreams of
Arlington. Classes are held on
Fridays from 10am to 12noon.
Cost is $5.00 per 2 hour class,
(cost of pottery piece not in-
cluded).
Holiday Singers- Fridays at 2:00pm. Our group is
open and free to anyone who wants to sing, no audition
necessary. On some dates singers maybe off site per-
forming.
Mitsy Project Quilting Class -Wednesdays at 1:00pm
at the Medford Senior Center. FREE quilting class. All
age groups are welcome in this inter-generational activ-
ity; only 15 participants can be accommodated with pri-
ority being given to blind or vis- ually
impaired registrants. Register by

the MCC/LCC for a partial grant mak-
ing it possible to continue the Mitsy Kit Project through
the COA.

Parkinson's Support Group - Learning How to live with Parkinson’s Disease The next meeting will be Tues-
day, February 6th at 1:00pm. Kim Arouth , RN from Greater Medford VNA will be leading the group. For ques-
tions feel free to call the Senior Center at 781-396-6010.
Veterans Coffee Hour Thursday, February 22nd, Veterans and their families are welcome to a coffee so-
cial at the Senior Center on the fourth Thursday of each month beginning at 2:30pm.Our facilitator will be Con-
nie Murphy. The first half hour we will discuss a designated topic and then we will open up the conversation to
everyone. Light refreshments will be served.
Low Vision Support Group will not meet again until March 23rd. The Low Vision support group is sponsored
by the Mass Association for the Blind and Visually impaired. The group is for individuals who are losing their
vision and would like to learn from and listen to others.
ASK A NURSE—Stop by and see Nisha Patel, RN. She is available most Wednesdays from
11:30am to 12noon for blood pressure checks, questions, and more. Program is sponsored by Great-
er Medford VNA.
From Heart to Hands each Thursday in February at 11:00am each Thursday—Join Marie, Occupational Thera-
pist who specializes in Hands, will offer hand massage, and KiKi a nurse who will offer free blood pres-
sure and answer any questions you may have.
CARE CAFÉ (Caregivers Assemble Relax and Enjoy) - meets the first Wednesday of each month,
Feb. 7th, from 10am—12noon. Memory Café style environment with social interaction featuring the Mitsy Kit
Project (a touch based sewing & quilting activity) for all participation levels. Call 781-396-6010
to reserve a seat today. David Driscoll from Body & Brain Yoga will lead the group in mindful
techniques.
Greater Medford Visiting Nurse and Community Health are happy to offer Podiatry Visits by
Shiho Kajita, RN. The podiatry visit will be the first Tuesday of the month starting February 6th
from 10—12. Along with podiatry needs, appointments will include a comprehensive assessment
by our certified provider. The cost is $35 per visit, cash or check due at visit. (No insurance at this time). Ap-

Meet Maxi, our Therapy Dog! - Tuesday, February 6th from 11:30am to 12:3pm here at the Medford Senior
Center. Maxi is a 2 1/2 year old Goldendoodle. He is gentle, well mannered, enjoys getting attention and loves to
meet people. Maxi was certified as a therapy dog by the Dog B.O.N.E.S therapy dogs of Mass organization in
Dec 2017 and looks forward to his visit with you.
The Medford Vocation Technical High Schools Health Students (MVTHS) considering careers in healthcare
will be visiting the Senior Center on February 8th, Thursday from 12:45 to 2:00pm. Come meet students from
the Medford Vocational High School Health Assisting Program. These students have an interest in enter-
ing health care professions. they are able to check blood pressures or pulse rates or just visit and share your expe-
riences and conversation. We look forward to meeting you all!
Mystic Valley Elder Services will be presenting a FREE workshop series beginning Thursdays April 26th—June
14th at the Medford Senior center 10am to 12noon—A Matter of Bal-
ance! This award winning program designed to manage falls and increase
activity levels. You’ll learn how to see falls as something you can con-
trol. This workshop is designed for anyone 60+ - whether you are con-
cerned about falls, have a history of falling or are interested in improving

FOOD PANTRY for Elders Thursday, February 8th at 2pm. Elders and adults with disabilities who are
interested in taking part in the food pantry should visit the Medford Senior Center to fill out an application.
Participants must register prior to visiting the food pantry and qualify based on income, disability, and age.

Mobile Banking at the Medford Senior Center
Wednesday, February 14th from 11am to 1:30pm
Yes, a bank that comes to you!. The mobile banking van,
offers an ATM, and two employees to assist with almost
any banking that you need. Do you need quarters for the
laundry? Do you want to cash a check? How about mak-
ing a deposit? Start your Christmas club? Yes the mobile
banking van will be here in our parking lot to help you.
SENIOR DINING PROGRAM MENU SPECIAL on Wednesday, February 14th
Mystic Valley Elder Services Valentine Special will be Lasagna in tomato
sauce served with green beans and red peppers. Snowflake wheat dinner
roll and chocolate mousse for dessert. Reservations required with Fay at
least 48 hours in advance. A suggested donation $2.00 per person.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES
LUNCH: Noontime meals are served each weekday, lunch program is run in cooperation with Mystic Valley
Elder Services. Call at least a day prior by 12 noon to reserve your meal, $2.00 suggested donation.
BINGO: Most Wednesdays begins at 1:00pm; $2.50 for 11 games, coffee, and dessert.
Alterations with Carmina will be available Fridays at 1:00 pm in February. Excellent work at reasonable
prices, Master Tailor Carmina Cerbone is fast, efficient, and affordable. Cash Only please
Roland’s Jewelry Repair, Wednesday February 14th from 11—12 noon. John Racicot will help you with
your jewelry repair needs. He will also replace batteries in hearing aids for a small fee.
FREE MOVIE (Classics, Comedy's, Dramas, Musicals)— Fridays beginning at 10:00 am—FREE come
on down enjoy a cup of coffee, pastry and a movie in the comfort of our library and our large flat screen TV.
Weight Loss Support Group will meet each Friday at 1pm. $1.00 per meeting. Informal group sessions of-
fering private weigh-ins, recipe ideas, and support.
Treadmill—We offer the use of the exercise equipment on most days. Mondays 9am—4pm, Tuesdays, 12—
4, Thursdays 9-12. You must have a Dr.’s note allowing use of the exercise equipment. Please check with
the office for availability as some days the room may be in use.
Dominoes on Monday– from 10:00am to 12:00noon– join us for a fun game of Dominoes, we have several
people playing each Monday. Drop in for this FREE game
Knit and Sew Club/ Project Linus Mondays 9:30am—11:00am FREE No instructors, just get together with
others to knit, sew and socialize. Join us if you would like to participate in Project Linus, we are working to-
gether on making blankets for children who have experienced a recent trauma.
HOME MAINTENANCE with Craig
Jobs that contribute to home safety are a priority. Do you need the batteries changed in your smoke de-tectors? How about grab bars put up in your bathroom. That pesky light bulb that has blown out but is too high to reach! If any fees are applicable they are based on a sliding scale. To schedule service, call 781-396-6010. Funded through a Medford CDBG Human Services Grant.
THE CARD SHARKS
CRIBBAGE ANYONE? cribbage games on Mondays from 9:30am to 11:30am. Come on down and learn
to play or refresh your skills.
POKER– 1:00pm-3:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Fridays. Dealers choice, all are welcome
Canasta Mondays from 1:00 to 3:45pm– Do you want to try your hand at Canasta? Need to refresh your
skills—don’t worry the players are here to help at the Medford Senior Center .
Mahjongg– Fridays at 1:30pm to 3:45pm– Looking to join a great group or to learn the game, stop by. A
Chinese game played, usually by four people, with 136 or 144 rectangular pieces called tiles. The object is
to collect winning sets of these tiles, as in card games such as gin rummy.
SCRABBLE-CHECKERS-CHESS or other board games may be played nearly any afternoon. We have
the games, just ask at the front desk for your leisure.
WHIST on Mondays from 1:00pm to 3:45pm-–WHIST, do you want to refresh your
knowledge of Whist or jump right in, all are welcome!
If there is a card game that you are interested in, that we do not offer, let us
know - we may be able to put a group together.

don’t drive, and public transportation isn’t an option, you can still get to appointments, visit friends, dine out, and
have a life with TRIP. This free program gives you money to reimburse friends, neighbors, and in some cases,
