of $30,686.00. If you have made a pledge, please remember to fulfill it. If you have not made a donation, please do so. Remember that anything over our goal comes directly back to our parish.

ADULT ENRICHMENT AND LAY ECCLESIAL MINISTRY ~ Education is a lifelong journey.  We are all called to holiness and have an obligation to grow and nurture our faith. The Office of Adult Enrichment and Lay Ecclesial Ministry (AELEM) offers many on-going and short term adult religious education opportunities.  Visit us at www.dioceseaj.org/lay-ecclesial-ministry

INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FAITH ~ Is there anyone blessed with the desire to become Catholic? Are you a Catholic who really needs to know the Faith better or who has not been confirmed for one reason or another, contact the rectory or Suzi Blazosky at 495-5287 as soon as possible. The RCIA Program will begin in late August.

JUST A NOTE REGARDING MARRIAGE: ~ If anyone is living in a marriage that has not been recognized by the Catholic Church, it would be advisable to consult a priest to see if that situation could be rectified. It could be a simple con-validation to receive the Church’s blessing. One will never know unless one inquires.

LITTLE “WHITE” LIES OUR PARENTS TOLD US:

PASTOR’S MESSAGE –AND NOW IT BEGINS The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit Court on July 14, 2015 stated that the LITTLE SISTERS of the POOR must comply with the HHS mandate that employees, including religious employers, provide employees coverage of contraceptive and abortion inducing drugs. Sister Loraine Marie Maguire, Mother provincial of the order, in a prepared statement said:

“As Little Sisters of the Poor, we simply cannot choose between our care for the elderly poor and our faith.” According to the Becket Fund of Religious Liberty, the ruling means the government can force the sisters to either violate their faith or pay massive IRS penalties.

Now, do you believe what I said about persecutions against our Catholic Faith beginning? Wait. More is coming!Fr. Bo

Memo to all Religious Ed catechists, substitutes, and volunteers:The PENNSYLVANIA CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE LAW has been amended to better protect children from abuse and neglect.

This law has impacted all professions that are responsilbe for or care for children, such as teachers, health care workers, child care, coaches, scout leaders, as well as the Church.

Part of this law requires clearances and training. This means that anyone working with our parish children will need these clearances. All Parish employees, Religious Education catechists, substitutes, helpers, youth group leaders and volunteers and any other adults who help to chaperone and mentor our children in any way are those who are required to have and will need these clearances, both the PA Criminal History (Act 34) and the PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151).

Parishioners that already have these clearances and training required by their jobs will only need to submit all copies to our Saint Michael Parish Office so we can have them on file in our records. This will alleviate duplication of services. If your job does not already require these, or you do not have these clearances, you will need to obtain them to work with the parish children. These clearances will be free for all volunteers. Please contact the Rectory Office at 495-9640 or the Religious Education Office at 495-4873 to obtain more information and websites to help with this process.

Once completed, you will need to provide copies of clearances and certification.********************************************************************************************************************Youth Protection Program Reminder ~ For all new families and volunteers wishing to work with any of our youth, in classrooms, with service projects, chaperoning, or any parish activities for the 2015—2016 School Year…..please note the following: The Altoona-Johnstown Diocese has a mandatory Youth Protection Program that is required of all employees or volunteers who work with children in any of the diocesan schools or parishes. All training must be completed and clearances up to date BEFORE employees or volunteers may work with children. The program is a one-time, online 45 minute training course that can be completed at home or any other computer. It includes a training course followed by a short quiz which users must attain an 80% or better to pass. If you are a new Religious Education volunteer or a new parent who would like to volunteer and you have NOT completed a previous “Protecting God’s Children” Training, you will need to complete this course before you can volunteer. Youth Protection Program How-To: Go to www.dioceseaj.org. Click on Youth Protection link/button found at the bottom left-hand side of the page. Click on Register at top right corner of that page. Follow the detailed instructions to access and complete the training course. First time users will create a unique user ID to be used to access the site when needed. All required forms must be printed and filled out for submission. Once the course is completed and you have printed out a certificate of completion and filled out the required forms, please turn all forms and the certificate into the Rectory or Religious Education office marked “Youth Protection Program”.

"The detectives want him very badly."So Little Johnny asked, "Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"
