The Catholic Church is the Church founded by

Testament of the Christian Bible. The term "Catholic"
means "according to the whole;" it was used early in the
Church's history to distinguish her from a number of
other gatherings whose teachings and practices were not
true to the authoritative teachings of Christ's apostles. All
human persons are invited and encouraged to accept the
salvation offered by Jesus through His one, holy, catholic
and apostolic Church by living the sacramental life offered
by the Catholic Church. It is the mission of Our Lady of
the Prairie Catholic Church to offer this life to the people
of Belle Plaine, Minnesota and its environs.

A Message from the Pastor...
NEW MASS AND CONFESSION SCHEDULE
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of the Prairie:
This week we publish a new schedule for Mass and
Confessions. These take effect on Monday, July 1, 2019.
As has been mentioned previously, these changes are
being made so that I am better able to attend to
administrative and religious education responsibilities.
The schedule on weekends remains essentially the
same, though Confessions on Saturday will begin at 3:30
p.m. and end at 4 p.m. and Confessions on Sunday will
begin at 7:15 a.m. and end at 7:45 a.m. The weekend Mass
times will remain at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m., 10
a.m., and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The Mass on Monday will be at 10:30 a.m., which is
also the new standard funeral time. This adjustment will
help to have mourners back from the cemetery by noon
for the funeral luncheon. The holy hour that has followed
the Monday Mass will continue, ending at noon; however,
there will be no Confessions on Monday. Monday will
continue to be the one day on which a funeral takes the
place of the regularly scheduled daily Mass.
The Tuesday schedule remains essentially the same,
with Confessions starting at 7:45 a.m. and ending at 8:15
a.m. Mass will continue to be at 8:30 a.m.
On Wednesdays Mass will continue to be at 8:30 a.m.
but there will be no Confessions. When the school year
begins, the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Wednesday will be the
"School Mass."
Thursday will continue to be my day off. Because I
anticipate working into the evening and perhaps even
night on Wednesdays during the school year, the Mass on
Friday will start at 4:15 p.m., the same time as Saturday.
This change will allow me the time I need to visit with
friends that live some distance from Belle Plaine. Though
far from perfect, the 4:15 p.m. time is desirable because it
does not conflict with a potential funeral, nor my
responsibilities in the school, nor a potential wedding
rehearsal, nor Lenten Stations of the Cross. I will hear
Confessions on Fridays from 5 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. These
Friday Masses and Confessions will replace the First
Friday offerings. Because some much prefer to be at
church in the morning, Deacon Bob has graciously agreed
to provide a Word and Communion Service on Friday
mornings at 8:30 a.m. I am grateful to him for doing this.
