Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health Cleft and Craniofacial Team Facial Plastic Surgery/Otolaryngology Laura Hetzler, MD, FACS is dual Board Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed an internship in General Surgery at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Loyola University in Chicago, IL. Dr. Hetzler then pursued advanced training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by completing a Fellowship at University of California, Davis in Sacramento, with a focus on cleft lip and palate surgery. Dr. Hetzler is full time faculty and Associate Professor for LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and is the Program Director for the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery residency. Dr. Hetzler began building the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial team shortly after her arrival in 2010 and is currently the team director for the clinic. Dr. Hetzler avidly participates in humanitarian missions around the world including China, Central America and South America for cleft lip and palate surgical teams. Craniomaxillofacial Surgery Rania A. Habib, MD, DDS, attended University of Minnesota for both undergraduate and dental school. She completed her medical degree from University of Maryland. She then finished her general surgery internship and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and RA Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2015. She then joined a busy group private practice in OMFS in Annapolis/Crofton, Maryland for 2 years. Dr. Habib decided to pursue her passion of treating pediatric patients with cleft and craniofacial disorders, so she completed a full scope Pediatric Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship at University of Florida, Jacksonville. She became the first female attending surgeon in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at LSU, NOLA where she was appointed an Assistant Professor with a primary focus in Pediatric Cleft and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. She currently serves on the Cleft and Craniofacial multidisciplinary team at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health and plays a prominent role in educating future surgical residents. Her primary practice interests include pediatric/adult OMFS, cleft, craniofacial, orthognathic, facial trauma, obstructive sleep apnea, benign head and neck pathology and facial reconstructive surgery.

Craniofacial Plastic Surgery

Dr. Sol Mundinger serves as the director of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department and as the surgical director of the Vascular Anomalies Team at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. He specializes in craniofacial, plastic and reconstructive surgery at Children’s Hospital. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital/University of Maryland Medical Center of Integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program in Baltimore. He then completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington. Dr. Mundinger is a board-certified plastic surgeon and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He serves on the faculty at LSU Health New Orleans as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery and Cell Biology and Anatomy.

When asked why he chose to specialize in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Mundinger said, “I chose to practice pediatrics because of the relationship I and our craniofacial team develop with families, parents and patients with craniofacial differences. These relationships often begin before birth and last into adulthood.” Dental/Prosthodontist

Michael J. Maginnis, DDS, MS, FACP, is a private practitioner from Baton Rouge specializing in Removable Prosthodontics. Dr. Maginnis is a 1971 graduate of Loyola University School of Dentistry in New Orleans and a 1973 graduate of the Prosthodontics program of the University Of North Carolina School Of Dentistry at Chapel Hill. Dr. Maginnis is a Diplomate to the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow in the American College of Prosthodontists. From 1973 to 2014, he was an active member of the East Baton Rouge Parish Cleft Palate Team and a consultant to the Louisiana State University Graduate Speech Department. In 2014, Dr. Maginnis was presented with the Louisiana Dental Association Distinguished Service Award for his years of service to organized dentistry.

Pediatric Neurosurgeons

Lori McBride, MD is a Fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeon, received her medical degree from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. She completed an internship in general surgery from LSU Medical Center and a neurosurgery residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (UCHSC) in Denver, Co. Following a one-year Fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas, she returned to Denver to serve as an assistant professor in pediatric neurosurgery at UCHSC, where she remained until returning to Louisiana in 2005. She is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgeons, and is a member of several industry societies including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the

Joint Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care, and the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons.

Pediatricians

Roberta Carona Vicari, MD, FAAP is a Baton Rouge native who is committed to the advancement of children’s safety and wellness through community awareness. After graduating from LSU in Baton Rouge in Biochemistry, she attended the LSU School of Medicine. Then, upon completing pediatric residency with LSU at Earl K. Long, she served as a general pediatrician for 20 years. In 2002, “Dr. V” joined Our Lady of the Lake as the first Medical Director for Children’s Services. Under her leadership, Our Lady of the Lake developed its children’s services into Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. Roberta is currently the Pediatric Division Chief at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and serves in multiple organizations. One can easily see how Dr. Vicari was honored as a “Master Pediatrician” by the LA Academy of Pediatrics (2014); still, she gives her husband, Frank, and their children credit for inspiring her to be faith-filled and an advocate for those in need.

Ashley Lucas, MD, FAAP earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. She completed her pediatric residency at Tulane, Ochsner and University Hospitals in New Orleans, La where she was named Outstanding Pediatrics Resident in 1999. Dr. Lucas has special interests in early childhood, obesity prevention, breastfeeding, and ADHD.

Pedodontists

Robert Delarosa, DDS is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Dentists. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, where he received the ASDC Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award in Pediatric Dentistry. He completed his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, serving as senior chief resident. He has lectured extensively to many organizations and groups, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and (g)nathos. He is a published author and was the Chair of the Council on Clinical Affairs of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has served as the District V Trustee, Secretary-Treasurer, and currently holds the office of Vice President to the Board of the American Academy of

Pediatric Dentistry. He has also served in various leadership roles and holds membership in several prestigious state and national dental associations.

Bradley Comeaux, DDS is a graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. He completed his dental training at LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Dr. Comeaux completed his residency in General Dentistry at LSU School of Dentistry and in Pediatric Dentistry at LSU and Children's Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Comeaux has been involved in several research projects all aimed at the improvement of materials used in dentistry. Dr. Comeaux is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and active member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, and the Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

Paige Sigsworth, DDS graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Dr. Sigsworth then proceeded to LSU School of Dentistry earning her DDS degree. She completed her two year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at LSU School of Dentistry and Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Dr. Sigsworth is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, an active member in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, and the Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She continues to stay abreast of the most current techniques as she regularly attends continuing education seminars and lecturers.

Brynn Lewis Leroux, DDS is a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. She then attended Medical University of South Carolina to complete a two year residency in Pediatric Dentistry, acting as Chief Resident during the second year of her program. A native of Maringouin, LA, Dr. Leroux graduated as Valedictorian from Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee in 2000 and continued on to study Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Throughout her educational vocation, Dr. Leroux has received numerous awards, scholarships, and honors. Dr. Leroux is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, American Dental Association, Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member

of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Society, C. Edmund Kells Honorary Society, and Pierre Fauchard Honor Society.

Dr. Rebecca Day was born and raised in Baton Rouge, attending St. Aloysius School and St. Joseph’s Academy. She then completed her degree in Biological Sciences with minors in Sociology and Chemistry at Louisiana State University. Dr. Day earned her DDS degree in New Orleans at LSU School of Dentistry where she was awarded membership to the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society and the Theta Kappa Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She served one year as Secretary/Treasurer and one year as Vice President of her dental class. She then moved to New York City for three years to further her education in Dentistry. She completed a one year General Practice Residency at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York and a two year Pediatric Dental Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Harlem, New York. She served as the Chief Resident in her final year of Pediatric Dental Residency

and completed a research project during her time in New York. Dr. Day has participated in several philanthropic duties including a dental mission trip to the Dominican Republic and a Dental Head Start Program in the Bronx. Dr. Day enjoys hanging out with her dog, fishing with her family, exercising, and attending LSU and Saints football games with friends. Oral Maxillofacial Surgery

Michael Casadaban, MD, DDS, is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who received both his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and his Doctorate of Medicine degrees from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Casadaban completed his post-graduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including a one-year general surgery internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Casadaban is directly affiliated with teaching residents from his former program at LSU as a Clinical Assistant Professor. This involves resident teaching at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. There he offers his expertise in oral and facial trauma care. Years of extensive training have allowed him to offer a wide variety of oral and facial procedures to his patients.

Genetics Duane Superneau, MD is Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Clinical Genetics and is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Superneau also completed a Fellowship in Medical Genetics at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, Department of Medical Genetics. Dr. Superneau evaluates and tests individuals and families for possible genetic syndromes and disorders. He provides genetic counseling for his patients and their families to address causes, inheritance patterns, medical management, and recurrence risks for the genetic and non-genetic issues identified during the course of evaluation. Dr. Superneau will also discuss with individuals and families any concerns they may have about their family history, including the occurrence of birth defects and concerns about hereditary predisposition to cancer.

Orthodontists

David Balhoff, DDS Dr. Balhoff is a native of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Catholic High School. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in 2000, Dr. Balhoff graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, LA in 2006 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Balhoff went on to complete his Orthodontics Residency at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in June 2008. He has published both research and clinical orthodontic articles in the Journal of Orthodontics (2009) and Orthotown (2014) magazine, respectively. Dr. Balhoff served as the 2010 President of the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association and still remains active in all local and state dental associations. He also became the first Orthodontist to start the charitable arm of Smiles Change Lives in La.

Stephen L. Sherman, DDS is an orthodontic specialist in Baton Rouge, Geismar and Central. Louisiana. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in 1976, he graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1983 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
