The Archdiocese of Atlanta is blessed and enriched by the presence of a di-verse and vibrant Hispanic/Latino com-munity both resident and migrant. This presence is a great source of hope as well as a challenge.

The Catholic Church in North Georgia embraces this challenge with a renewed apostolic zeal and a mis-sionary spirit, seeking ways to promote and facilitate full participation into the life and mission of the Church. The Archdiocese of Atlanta has designated the second collection this weekend to support the Hispanic Minis-tries in the Archdiocese, all contributions will stay in the Archdiocese to help all the established Hispanic minis-tries. Please be generous.

The 2015 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is now underway. Parishioners should be receiving a letter from Archbishop Gregory asking for a pledge to the 2015 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. The Appeal funds the essential ministries of the Church in our arch-diocese, ministries that, in many cases, are of service to our parish. Your financial support for the work of our parish and our archdio-cese is one way to show gratitude to God and support the Church in her mission to share the love of Christ with the world. Please respond to the Archbishop’s request and make a generous pledge. All pledges will be billed in ten monthly installments. Thank you in advance for your support.

We are called Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Week of January 25, 2015 Listen to the Word (Mark 1:14 — 20) What words or phrases strike you when you hear once again the story of Jesus calling his disciples? What in this reading touches your heart? Look into your life Question for children: What do you think it was like for the people in today's Gospel to be called by Jesus? What did they have to give up in order to follow him? Question for youth: At the start of Jesus' ministry, Jesus invites people to "believe in the Good News." What are some ways that you could be more open to the truth and challenge contained within the Gospels? Question for adults: If someone asked you, "To what particular work has Jesus called you?" how would you answer? Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: What can your family do this week to show others that you believe in the Good News? As a family, read stories of saints who showed their belief in the Good News. Discuss: How were the lives of others affected by this person's faith in Jesus? Jesus calls us to be fishers of people. If you were going to catch people for Jesus, what kind of bait would you need? As a family, make a list of ways each individual’s life and your family life is influenced by your faith in Jesus. After brainstorming the list, talk about a few of the items. Finally, decide on one thing your family will do this week to put into practice the faith you share.

JANUARY 25, 2015 Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today’s readings, God, through Jonah’s preaching, causes the people of Nineveh to answer his call, turn away from evil, and repent. In St. Mark’s Gospel, Jesus calls Simon-Peter, Andrew, James, and John to be his disciples. They respond immediately, leaving their fishing businesses and families — sacrificing everything to follow the Lord. Their actions were considered radical in Jesus’ day, and also by to-day’s standards. As disciples striving to embrace stewardship as a way of life, are we, too, willing to sacrifice all to further his kingdom?
