"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."(John 15:13)

My dear brothers and sisters,

The book, D-Day with the Screaming Eagles: For the Men of the 101st Airborne, June 6, 1944, Was a Baptism by Fire describes the courage of the paratroopers who launched the invasion of Europe on June 6, 1944. They gave their lives that the fellow soldiers might land safely. In one company alone, 219 men jumped and only 73 survived. These courageous men imitated the words of Christ in today's gospel: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”. Those soldiers died that their friends might live.

The words of the Lord and the action of the paratroopers invite us to ask about our own spirit of sacrifice. Are we willing to sacrifice at least our own comfort and time for the fellow citizens?

"Each one of them is Jesus in disguise" - Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Dear Friends, We are grateful to our parishioners who have already made a pledge to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Making a six-month pledge to the Appeal allows you to maximize the amount that you may give by making monthly payments. For example, a $300 gift to the Appeal may be setup with six $50 installments. Your sacrifice and generosity to those who are less fortunate will allow the ministries of our diocese to offer services to those who need 7 our assistance. You can make your gift online at FaithHopeCharityGives.org, pick up a pledge form at the back of Church or call the Appeal Office at 800-831-4443. Please mail to the Diocese. With gratitude, Father Johnson

INSIDE OUT The Holy Family School Players will perform INSIDE OUT (based on the Pixar animated movie) at the Holy Family School Gymnasium (512 W. Center St., Nazareth) on MAY 18 (7PM), MAY 19 (3PM & 7PM) and MAY 20 (3PM).Tickets available in the Parish Office or at the door. $8 General Admission.

On April 21st, Fr. Johnson conducted a mini retreat for the ministry at OLHC. Fr. Brendon Laroche of Holy Infancy Parish gave a talk with the theme “Dignity in Serving the Lord.” He stated all our service is divine and the "dignity comes from what we celebrate". It was a 3H talk incorporating History in scriptures for preparing, Humor to help with any challenge in our responsibility, and Humility to help us prepare things prayerfully.

Fr. Johnson gave a presentation on the culture and folklore of India with a pictorial display that demonstrated how all cultures can serve well and give proper honor to God. Even though Fr. Johnson was not riding any elephants in his pictures, we did see many elephants as well as his beautiful family. Hopefully all participants are now better prepared to render back [to the parishioners of OLHC] through their various talents given to them by God.

If you are interested in participating in our ministry, please email the rectory at [email protected] or call at 610-432-9384.
