It is important when you come to enrol that you have photographic ID such as a passport, driving licence, bus pass, employment security pass or any ID showing your name and your photograph.There is no need to bring a separate photograph as your picture will be taken for your College ID card during the enrolment process.You can pay by cash, cheque (made payable to Bradford College) or debit/credit card.Tuition fees will be payable at the time of enrolment unless you qualify for fee remission (see page 4).If you qualify for fee remission you must bring evidence of the benefit you are receiving as detailed on page 5.For some community courses online enrolment is also available. INFORMATION FOR THOSE STUDYING ACCREDITED COMMUNITY COURSES
(Community Interpreting, ITQ qualifications, British Sign Language courses)
You may not have to pay course fees if you are studying a certificated or accredited course and:
•• You are aged 19-23 on the start date of your course and are studying on an Entry Level or Level 1 course and will progress to Level 2
•• You are aged 19-23 on the start date of your course and are studying on your first full Level 2 qualification
•• You are aged 19-23 on the start date of your course and are studying on your first full Level 3 qualification
•• You are aged 19-23 on the start date of your course and would like to study a full Level 4 qualification and do not already hold a full Level 3 qualification
If your employer or sponsor is paying your fees, please provide us with a letter from the company. This must be an original letter on the company’s letter-headed paper; copies, handwritten letters or emails cannot be accepted.
If you are in receipt of any of the benefits outlined on page 5, you must bring proof as specified or, if you are enrolling by post, attach a copy to your application form.

30 weeks (2 hours per week)
COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification will enable you to understand how to prepare for a community interpreting role, its ethical context and the responsibilities involved. It develops the practice of interpreting, including facilitating community interpreting situations. This course is suitable if you are new to this role, have no previous experience or are interested in developing your practice and performance.
The course is accredited through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and/or course assessment.
You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You should have fluency in English and a second language at GCSE level.
Interviews/initial assessment sessions for Community Interpreting courses will be held in The David Hockney Building in July and August.

34 weeks (3.5 hours per week)
COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification will enable you to understand how to prepare for a community interpreting role. The course builds on the Community Interpreting Level 1 course to develop the practice of interpreting.
The qualification will enable you to:
• Develop language skills in preparation for training as a Community Interpreter
• Develop an awareness of the ethical context and responsibilities involved in community interpreting
• Develop listening and assertiveness skills in preparation for further community interpreting study and work
• Develop public service awareness and knowledge
• Develop volunteering experience in the community.
In addition, you will be required to obtain a placement as a bilingual volunteer with a relevant organisation. The expectation is that the placement should not be less than 20 hours.
The course is accredited through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and/or course assessment.
You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You should have an English qualification at a minimum of Level 2 and fluency in English and a second language at GCSE level.

COMMUNITY INTERPRETING LEVEL 3
30 weeks (3 hours per week)
COURSE OVERVIEW
The aims of this course are:
• To understand the role of the Community Interpreter
• To learn about the sectors where interpreters may be required to work
• To develop and practise sight translation
• To demonstrate the skills of two-way interpreting
• To learn how to develop and enhance your own performance.
The areas covered by the course are: Education, Health, Social Services, Immigration, Housing and Welfare-Benefit System.
You will be required to attend taught classes and carry out a significant amount of self-study.
The course is accredited through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and/or course assessment.
You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You should be fluent in both languages and have high competency in speaking, reading and writing in English (at A level) and speaking and reading in the second language (at A level).
Some interpreting/translation experience is highly recommended.

This qualification will enable you to understand how to prepare for a community interpreting role, its ethical context and the responsibilities involved. This course builds on the Community Interpreting Level 3 course and is suitable if you wish to further improve your practice and performance.
There is a significant amount of self-study throughout the course.
The course is accredited through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and/or course assessment.
You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You should have completed the Level 3 Community Interpreting course and have fluency in English and a second language at A level. You should be literate in both languages. This will be assessed at an initial interview.

Set within Bradford’s vibrant City Park with the mirror pool and fountains as a backdrop, our modern premises house Centenary Square IT Learning Centre.
The Centre has 60 IT workstations in addition to hand held devices such as iPads and offers flexible training for adults in a large range of IT courses at times designed to fit in with family and work commitments.

This course is suitable for those who wish to gain an IT qualification recognised by employers. A variety of modules will be offered for example: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, use of the internet, use of email and internet safety.
This course may be suitable for complete beginners and the first week of the course will involve a simple test which all students must complete.
The course is accredited and you will be assessed on completion of each module. A total of nine credits is required for the full qualification.
You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You must be able to read and write in English at Level 1 and have a basic knowledge of computing (mouse and keyboard skills).

On the Polish - Introduction course, you will cover the basics of language. You will only be taught the present tense, and vocabulary will include social contacts, getting about, holidays and health. We place special emphasis on your speaking and listening skills.
You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course.

We offer a range of FREE English and Mathematics courses, at various centres in the Bradford area, for adults aged 19 or over, to allow you to achieve a nationally-recognised qualification. We offer a supportive and engaging learning environment to support all levels from Entry Level to Level 2. These courses start in September and finish in June.
For these English and Mathematics courses, there are no formal entry requirements. You will be required to complete an assessment and, based upon that, you will be allocated a class at the appropriate level.

You will work on your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in all classes. An Individual Learning Plan will be designed to develop your existing skills.
Assessment is on-going throughout the year to prepare you for the examinations at the end of the course. You will be assessed on your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Entry is available throughout the year for Functional Skills Awards/Certificates in English.
Mathematics courses available: •• City & Guilds Functional Skills

We offer a wide range of programmes which provide a starting point for vocational courses offered at Bradford College.
Access to FE includes: Business ICT, Catering, Childcare, Construction, Creative, Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, Motor Vehicle Studies, Public Services, Retail, Sport and Travel & Tourism, as well as vocational tasters for those who have not yet decided on a careers pathway.
Alongside the vocational element of the course you will investigate aspects of Employability and Personal Development and work towards English and Mathematics functional skills.
There are no formal requirements for Access to FE programmes and the course is free.

In partnership with City Training Services, we offer a huge range of apprenticeships and traineeships to people of all ages and employers of all sizes across Yorkshire and beyond. We believe in the value of apprenticeships and the benefits they bring to young people, employees and employers.
You will acquire industry-relevant skills and experience whilst studying towards a career-related qualification (usually one day a week).
Your apprenticeship will last a minimum of one year with some programmes as long as four years. In that time, we will also support you to achieve Functional Skills qualifications in English and Mathematics.
An apprenticeship allows you to progress to a higher level apprenticeship programme as an alternative to university.
