ХРАМОВЕ СВЯТО

Храмове свято нашої парафії відбудеться в неділю 18-го листопада 2018 року. Просимо всіх парафіянів взяти участь в Богослуженні. Після Служби Божої в нашій залі буде обід та коротка святкова програма.

ЗБІРКА ЇЖІ ТА ОДЯГУ ДЛЯ БЕЗПРИТУЛЬНИХ

Цього місяця ми пожертвували 6 великих мішків одягу та 3 пакети продуктів харчування для потребуючих. Також деякі побутові речі віддали в Армію Спасіння. Дякуємо всім, хто зробив свій внесок.

Парафія далі робитиме збірку їжі та одягу для безпритульних. Буде дві коробки: одна для продуктів харчування і друга для одягу.

Просьба жертвувати консервовані продукти та продукти у фабричних упаковках, таких як; рис, макарони, крупи і т. д. Вся їжа має бути не прострочена, або ми змушені будемо її викинути.

Одяг має бути новим, або в доброму стані. На даний час ми збираємо одяг на весну і літо. Також можна жертвуват

и ковдри і господаські товари. ДУЖЕ ДЯКУЄМО ЗА ПІДТРИМКУ.

6-ГО ТА 7-ГО ЖОВТНЯ 2018 Р.

Майстерність Хорового Співу - Субота, 6 Жовтня 2018 Р

Шестигодинний семінар у суботу, 6 жовтня 2018 р. являється безкоштовним і відкритий для всіх учасників хору, диригентів та членів громади, які зацікавлені у співі акапелла. Семінар буде присвячений вивченню та репетиції хорових творів, які будуть виконуватися, як частина недільного концерту. Семінар будуть очолювати запрошені диригенти Тімоті Сойєр та Майкл МакГагі. Буде обід.

Візантійський Хоровий Фестиваль - Неділя, 7 Жовтня 2018 Р. О 5 Годині Вечора

Головною подією фестивалю є концерт, де кілька хорів виконуватимуть декілька творів. Репертуар - це суміш традиційної етнічної церковної музики та оригінальні твори. Музика часто виконується на різних мовах, включаючи українську, церковно - слов'янську, арамейську, арабську, сербську та англійську. Останнім буде виступ загального хору, що складається з учасників суботнього семінару. Концерт безкоштовний і відкритий для широкого загалу.

28 ЖОВТНЯ ЦЬОГО РОКУ ВІДБУДЕТЬСЯ ГРОМАДСЬКЕ

ПОМИНАННЯ УКРАЇНСЬКОГО ГОЛОДОМОРУ.

Вісімдесят п'ять років тому, комуністичний режим здійснив геноцид проти української нації, навмисно використовуючи масовий голодомор для придушення народного опору проти радянської влади. Мільйони померли ... а деякі, хто пережив голод, опинилися в Міннесоті. Ми знали їх, як наших парафіян, друзів, батьків, бабусь і дідусів. Оскільки мало свідків злочину залишилося, ми зобов'язані шанувати жертв цієї страшної події і згадати їхні розповіді, щоб поділитися цією інформацією з майбутніми поколіннями.

Всі запрошені на програму, присвячену 85-річчю Голодомору 1932-33 років:

Головний доповідач, Софія Ісаїв з Торонто, буде говорити про Голодомор, висвітлюючи цю тему через історичну пам’ять . Вона є засновником першого подібного проекту у Північній Америці, "Усні спогади дітей, які пережили Голодомор".

Розклад активностей 71-ї Конвенції Української Православної Ліги:

В четвер Вечеря з барбекю. Після ранішньої служби Митрополит Антоній зробив

огляд історії Церкви, після чого відбулася презентація "Здорові парафії". Доповідач виклав ідеї свого бачення і цілі, а також як збільшити наше членство та фінанси.

Вечером після вечері оновлений Стратегічний план був представлений кожним цільовим капітаном, а також було виконано наступне: (Було прийнято новий логотип для консисторії та була розроблена програма українського православного церковного життя, яку можна завантажити по телефону. У програмі є

консолідована інформація - календар, події, богослужби, послуги, православна аналітика, а також доступ до веб-сайту УПЦ та інших соціальних мереж. Додаток можна завантажити з Google і Apple Play.

СВЯТКУВАННЯ СТОРІЧЧЯ:

У четвер ввечері відбувся прийом та відкриття музею Український православний емігрант, було багато цікавих та красивих артефактів різних церков та церковних організацій по всій Америці.

В п'ятницю ввечері відбувся ювілейний концерт, що включав виступи вокальних, бандурних та танцювальних ансамблів. Була виконана сцена: еміграція українців до Америки, у супроводі бандур та танцювального колективу, розроблена у співпраці з архівом консисторії. Це було дуже зворушливо, і в аудиторії багато людей просльозилися. Кліпи та відеозаписи концерту доступні на uocofusa.org

Вранці був хресний хід до церкви – пам’ятника, а після цього Божественна Літургія та бенкет. Програма складалася із привіту від Патріарха Варфоломія та інших запрошених ієрархів. Програма закінчилася коротким виступом місцевої української танцювальної групи. Кожен учасник банкета отримав пам'ятну книгу та меморіальну картку. Вони будуть доступні для ознайомлення всіх членів парафії.

ЗВІТ СЕСТРИЦТВА:

Пожертви На Фонд Альцгеймера: На протязі вересня місяця сестрицство збирало пожертви для Асоціації Альцгеймера під час кави після Літургії. Ми зібрали 1000 доларів США до яких Сестрицтво додасть таку саму ціну. Дуже дякуємо всім за вашу підтримку.

Вереcнева Зустріч Єднання: сестринство та братство мали чергове успішне зібрання в п'ятницю, 28 вересня. Було понад 30 людей. Ми мали смачну страву з свинини на барбекю, тушеної яловичини, капустяного салату, кукурудзи, вареної квасолі, картопляного салату та торт на День народження для Орисі Бобчек. Пізніше ми грали в "Бінго" з деякими чудовими

призами. Велике спасибі Лесі Луцик та Діані Пасічник за організацію такого прекрасного часу.

Чищення Килимового Покриття В Церкві: сестрицство найняло професійну компанію, щоб почистити килими у Церкві. Прибирання включало в себе сходи до церкви і на хори, хори, церква і в вівтарі та офісі. Була зроблена відмінна робота, і ціна була дуже розумною.

БІБЛІОТЕКА

Пан Олександер Полець подарував три гареі великі полички для книжок, 57 LP плит, 100+ різних, цікавих журналів акі публікувались в Україні. Ми є вдячні пану Олександрy за його щедрий дарунок. Всі журнали находятса на відкритих поличках біля бібліотеки. Ви можете вибрати і взяти будь який журнал, що вам до вподоби, а пізніше повернути його і покласти на місце.

ТОВАРИСЬКА ЗУСТРІЧ ПІД ЧАС КАВИ

Ласкаво Запрошуємо всіх після Служби Божої до парафіяльної залі на солодощі, каву і товариство. Так відбуватиметься кожної неділі після Святої Літургії, якщо не буде якихось поминальних чи парафіяльних обідів. Дякуємо всім тим хто готував, або буде готувати цю перекуску.

Нам потрібні добровольці для приготування кави і перекуски після Служби Божої. На стіні біля кухні є листок для

реєстрації бажаючих. Чоловіки та жінки можуть брати участь у цій важливій справі, оскільки це надає можливість всім членам парафії збиратися разом і мати добрий час.

Сестрицтво має в наявності тарілки, чашки, столові прилади та серветки. Ми також забезпечуємо каву, чай, вершки, цукор та масло. Добровольцям не потрібно приносити ці речі. У нас також є достатньо маринованих огірків, грибів та оливок, тому ви можете використовувати ті, що знаходяться в холодильнику

ПОКРОВА ПРЕСВЯТОЇ БОГОРОДИЦІ

Всі віруючі християни зі всіма своїми скорботами і потребами звертаються до Матері Небесної – Божої Матері, Заступниці засмучених. Вони пам’ятають Її обіцянку апостолам і всім християнам дану Нею на смертнім ложі: «Я не залишу вас, але завжди буду просити за вас Сина Свого і вашого Бога – Я буду вашою Покровителькою і Заступницею».

Вона сповнила Свою обіцянку. Свята Церква пригадує нам велике благодійство Божої Матері до православних Християн – Її з’явлення у Влахернському храмі. Це було в 910 році коли місто Константинопіль належало християнам. Восени цього року, як говорить нам передання і підтверджує Візантійський історик Зонара. На Константинопіль нападали варвари, які припливли до міста на кораблях. Вийшовши на берег вони оточили місто і вимагали щоб місто здалося. Довго продовжувалася облога міста, почався голод і хвороби, які остаточно виснажили захисників Константинополя. Здавалося, що вже не було ніякої надії на спасіння і тільки смерть очікувала їх. Вірні зібралися у Влахернському храмі де зберігалася риза Богоматері та здійснили там всенічну відправу. Гаряче молилися віруючі. Серед них знаходився і святий Андрій Христа ради юродивий, зі своїм учнем Єпіфанієм. Під час молитви святий Андрій несподівано глянув догори і перед його очима з’явилося захоплююче видовище, він ясно побачив під куполом в повітрі Божу Матір з багатьма ангелами

та святими, Яка молилася до Свого Сина і Бога та покривала, всіх хто були в храмі Чесним Своїм Омофором.

Це видіння означало, що молитва тих людей, котрі знаходилися в храмі була вислухана і що їх захищає сама Божа Мати. До ранку піднявся сильний вітер, який поступово перейшов у бурю-ураган, що порозкидав і порозбивав ворожі кораблі. Ті які знаходилися на березі та тримали в облозі місто залишилися без підтримки і перелякалися. Обложені скориставшись цим і піднесенні цим дивним видінням вийшли із-за стін міста і розбили ворога.

В пам’ять цього заступництва Божої Матері, через 250 років, Православна Церква встановила свято – Покрова Пресвятої Богородиці, як щирій Заступниці християнського роду і Молитвениці за мир. Віра в заступництво Божої Матері та Її Покров, який простягається над усіма грішниками які є в світі, займає центральне місце, як в житті святого Андрія, так і в самому богослужінні свята. Як сонячний промінчик проникає ця віра у всі перекази в яких говориться, що Богомати відійшла у світ допомагати людям. В цьому переказі показується переконаність, що по відході з Влахернської Церкви, Богомати залишала благодать цим людям які там перебували. Покрова Божої Матері не є окремим проявом Її благодатної допомоги, але складає сутність Її відношення до всього світу. Вона і сьогодні стоїть у Церкві із ликами святих невидимо молиться за нас Богові.

Якщо нас перемагають біди і напасті прибігаймо до Милосердної Заступниці. Вона Покровителька світу, за нашими молитвами охороняє нас від тисячі бід і визволить нас від неминучої смерті. Вона як Божа Мати, вища за всіх святих, Чесніша від Херувимів, і незрівнянно Славніша від Серафимів, через Свою благодать Вона є перша за всіх після Ісуса Христа в Царстві Божому, Провідниця до спасіння. Вона перша роздає благодать всім хто Її шукає, звертається в молитвах до Неї. Вона підносить наші недостойні молитви до Небесного престолу Всевишнього. Вона просвічує наш розум і

лікує наші серця, робить чистими і благодатними наші молитви Своїми тілесними очима ми не бачимо Божої Матері, як Її бачили святий Андрій та Єпіфаній, але ми можемо відчувати в своєму серці Її наближеність до нас у нашому храмі. Кожний хто щиро молиться і взиває до Пресвятої Діви Марії, не може не відчувати в своєму серці теплоти і радості від того, що наша Молитвениця і Заступниця є завжди близько коло нас. Ця духовна радість і ця теплота є наслідком того, що наша Мати Небесна – Пресвята Діва молиться за нас Богу

PATRON SAINT’S DAY

Our parish’s Patron Saint’s Day will be held on November 18th. All parishioners and their families and friends are encouraged to attend the church service and the celebratory dinner following the liturgy.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH:

Thank you to all who have donated food and clothing these past month. We have donated six (6) garbage bags of clothing and three (3) grocery bags to Sharing and Caring Hands, and some household items to Salvation Army.

WE ARE STILL GATHERING FOOD AND CLOTHING. There are two (2) boxes in the hall - for food and clothes. Please donate only non-perishable food such as canned goods or boxed staples such as rice, noodles, cereals, etc. All Food Should Be Within the Expiration Dates Otherwise It Will Be Thrown Away.

Clothing Should Be Either New or Gently Used. Currently we are collecting spring and summer clothing. You can also donate linens and household supplies. YOUR SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Starting from May to October the Sisterhood will hold its meeting every First Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the church hall.

If you are not currently a member, please consider joining us for fellowship with people you have grown up with, fun and working together for the parish that provided our parents and us as youths with sustenance, fellowship, and a relationship with the Ukrainian Orthodox church.

BYZANTINE CHORAL WORKSHOP AND CONCERT OCTOBER 6TH AND 7TH 2018

Choral Workshop - Saturday, October 6, 2018

The six-hour workshop on Saturday, October 6, 2018 is free and open to all participating choir members, conductors and community members with an interest in acapella singing. The workshop will focus on learning and rehearsing choral pieces to be performed as part of Sunday's concert. The workshop will be led by guest conductors Timothy Sawyer and Michael McGaghie. Lunch is provided.

The main event of the festival is the concert, where several choirs will each perform a few selections. The repertoire is a mix of traditional ethnic sacred music and original music. Music is often performed in various languages, including Ukrainian, Old Slavonic, Aramaic, Arabic, Serbian and English. The final group to perform will be the Festival Choir, made up of Saturday's workshop participants. The concert is free and open to the public.

COMMEMORATION

Eighty-five years ago, the Communist regime committed genocide against the Ukrainian nation, deliberately using mass starvation to break the people’s resistance against Soviet authority.

Millions died….and some who survived the famine ended up in Minnesota. We knew them as our fellow parishioners, friends, parents and grandparents. Since few eyewitnesses to the atrocity remain, it is our responsibility to honor the victims and remember their stories to share with future generations.

All are invited to a program to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-33:

Keynote speaker Sophia Isajiw from Toronto will speak about remembering the Holodomor through oral history. She is the Interviewer for the “Children of Holodomor Survivors Speak” oral history project, the first such project in North America.

DELEGATE REPORT ON THE UOC OF USA CENTENNIAL

CELEBRATION

UOL 71st Convention Activities:

Thu evening barbecue dinner

Friday all day workshop: after morning vesper Metropolitan gave an overview of the Church history followed by a presentation Healthy Parishes The speaker presented ideas on how to set our vision and goals and increase our membership and finances.

Thu evening after barbecue dinner Strategic Plan updates were presented by each goal captain, the following have been completed: (A new logo for the Consistory was adopted and an application, Ukrainian Orthodox Church Life, was developed that can be downloaded on the phone. The application has Consistory information – calendar, events, liturgical music, services, podcasts from Ancient Faith and Orthoanalytika, and access to the UOC website and other social media. The app can be downloaded from Google and Apple play stores.

Centennial Celebration:

Thursday evening was a reception and opening of the centennial museum; Ukrainian Orthodox immigrant, which featured many interesting and beautiful artifacts from various churches and church organizations across the US.

Friday evening was a centennial concert featuring vocal, bandura and dance ensembles. An interpretive dance of the immigration

from Ukraine to America was performed by the bandura and dance ensembles developed in cooperation with the Consistory archives. It was very moving and there was not a dry eye in the auditorium. Clips and video of the concert are available on uocofusa.org

Sat morning a procession to the memorial church was followed by Divine Liturgy and luncheon. A program followed the luncheon with a greeting from Patriarch Bartholomew and other attending guest hierarchs. The program ended with a short performance from local Ukrainian dance group. Each banquet participant was given a commemorative book and a memorial card. They will be made available for parish members to see.

SISTERHOOD REPORT:

Alzheimmer’s Donation: During the month of September the Sisterhood was collecting donations for the Alzheimer’s Association during the coffee hours after Liturgy. We collected approximately over $750.00 which will be matched by the Sisterhood.

September Get Together: The Sisterhood and Brotherhood had another successful get together on Friday, Sept. 26th. Over 30 people attended. We had a delicious meal of barbequed pork sliders, roast beef, coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, and potato salad with a Birthday cake for Orysia Bobcek topping the meal. Afterwards we played Bingo with some great prizes. Thank you very much to our hostesses, Lesya Lucyk and Diana Pasichnyk for organizing such a great time.

Cleaning of the rug in the Church: The Sisterhood hired a professional rug cleaning business to clean the rug in the Church. The cleaning included the stairs to the church and up to the choir, the choir loft, church and behind the altar and the office. Twin Cities Finest did an excellent job and the price was very reasonable.

LIBRARY

Mr. Aleksander Poletz has donated 3 nice bookcases, 57 LP records and over 100 various interesting magazines published in

Ukraine. We thank pan Oleksander for his generous donation. All magazines are located on open shelves by the library. You may borrow whichever magazine you like and later replace it back on the shelf.

FELLOWSHIP COFFEE HOUR –

Everyone is invited to the church hall each Sunday after Liturgy for refreshments and fellowship with exception on the Sundays when memorial services or church dinners are planned. If you want to volunteer to host a coffee hour you may sign up on the chart by the kitchen in the Parish Hall. Many thanks to those who have volunteered in the past and to those who will volunteer to host future coffee hours.

We need volunteers to man and prepare the Coffee hour after the services. Men and women can both participate in volunteering for this very important service, since it provides fellowship for all parish members to get together and share with each other.

Sisterhood will provide plates, cups, flatware and napkins. We are also providing coffee, tea, cream and sugar and butter. Volunteers do not need to provide these items

PROTECTION THE MOTHER OF GOD.

The miraculous appearance of the Mother of God occurred in the mid-tenth century in Constantinople, in the Blachernae church where her robe, veil, and part of her belt were preserved after being transferred from Palestine in the fifth century.

During the All Night Vigil, when the church was overflowing with those at prayer, the Fool-for-Christ Saint Andrew, at the fourth hour, lifted up his eyes towards the heavens and beheld our most Holy Lady Theotokos coming through the air, resplendent with heavenly light and surrounded by an assembly of the Saints. Saint John the Baptist and the holy Apostle John the Theologian accompanied the Queen of Heaven. On bended knees the Most Holy Virgin tearfully prayed for Christians for a long time. Then, coming near the Bishop’s Throne, she continued her prayer.

After completing her prayer she took her veil and spread it over the people praying in church, protecting them from enemies both visible and invisible. The Most Holy Lady Theotokos was resplendent with heavenly glory, and the protecting veil in her hands gleamed “more than the rays of the sun.” Saint Andrew gazed trembling at the miraculous vision and he asked his disciple, the blessed Epiphanius standing beside him, “Do you see, brother, the Holy Theotokos, praying for all the world?” Epiphanius answered, “I do see, holy Father, and I am in awe.”

The Ever-Blessed Mother of God implored the Lord Jesus Christ to accept the prayers of all the people calling on His Most Holy Name, and to respond speedily to her intercession, “O Heavenly King, accept all those who pray to You and call on my name for help. Do not let them go away from my icon unheard.”

Saints Andrew and Epiphanius were worthy to see the Mother of God at prayer, and “for a long time observed the Protecting Veil spread over the people and shining with flashes of glory. As long as the Most Holy Theotokos was there, the Protecting Veil was also visible, but with her departure it also became invisible. After taking it with her, she left behind the grace of her visitation.”

The Primary Chronicle of Saint Nestor also notes the miraculous deliverance followed an all-night Vigil and the dipping of the garment of the Mother of God into the waters of the sea at the Blachernae church, but does not mention Saints Andrew and Epiphanius and their vision of the Mother of God at prayer. These latter elements, and the beginnings of the celebrating of the Feast of the Protection, seem to postdate Saint Nestor and the Chronicle

On the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos we implore the defense and assistance of the Queen of Heaven, “Remember us in your prayers, O Lady Virgin Mother of God, that we not perish by the increase of our sins. Protect us from every evil and from grievous woes, for in you do we hope, and venerating the Feast of your Protection, we magnify you.”

PATRIARCH OF CONSTANTINOPLE PLEDGES TO GRANT AUTOCEPHALY TO UKRAINIAN CHURCH

ATHENS (Sputnik) - Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople said Sunday that he would soon grant autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine just as it had been granted to the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia in 1998, adding that he was not afraid of threats.

"Now it is the turn of Ukraine, which will be accorded the autocephalous status soon despite the existing opposition, and it will happen because it is [Ukraine's] right… We are not afraid of threats," the Ecumenical Patriarch said without specifying what threats he was talking about.

He stressed that just as Ukraine had the right to get autocephaly, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople had the right to grant autocephaly to it.

Following the announcement of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, appointing Archbishop Daniel, the ruling hierarch of the Western Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA to the formal responsibility of an Exarch

(viceroy) of the Ecumenical throne to Ukraine, the archbishop traveled to the capitol of Ukraine – Kyiv in order to begin the fulfillment of his temporary assignment along with His Grace Bishop Ilarion of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. President of Ukraine, Honorable Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with the Exarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine - Archbishop Daniel of the Western Eparchy of the UOC in the United States of America and Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton and the Western Eparchy of the UOC in Canada on September 17, 2018.

Bishop Ilarion read the letter of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the President.

"It is with particular joy and spiritual exaltation that we would like to inform you that in the framework of the already initiated process of giving the long-awaited status of autocephaly to the Christ-loving Ukrainian people, the Holy Synod unanimously decided at the last meeting to appoint His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Pamphylia from the United States and His Eminence Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton from Canada, both serving in the respective countries to the Ukrainian Orthodox believers under the canonical intercession and spiritual care of the Constantinople Mother Church, Exarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine," the letter reads.

"This remarkable historic decision of the First Orthodox Church will definitely contribute to the processes of granting autocephaly, which we pray for and work over day and night. With this joyful message from the Constantinople Mother Church, the First Orthodox Church, we warmly congratulate you on faith in the wonderful process that we, together with you, have initiated for the spiritual prosperity and independence of the Christ-loving and long-suffering Ukraine," the letter reads.

The Consistory Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry wants to

encourage youth and young adults to explore their creative

talents and to glorify God through art, with the 3rd Annual

Part of our mission, is to provide youth and college aged young

adults the opportunity to become more involved with their

faith, while showcasing the talented and creative youth we

have within in our Ukrainian Orthodox Churches. We want our

youth to realize that having fun and utilizing creativity can be

manifested in a project that shows how they correlate their life

with their faith.

Provided in this packet are the rules and entry information for

the contest. We ask that you encourage all youth and college

students to participate. Deadline for entries is November 15.

Prizes will be awarded for first and second place. To broaden

the experience and best utilize social media, we will be

allowing individuals to view the submissions on-line and vote

for their favorite! A People's Choice winner will be awarded in

each category. Submit your photo by November 15 to uocyouth@aol.com with the needed entry form. The photos will be displayed online until December 1st. At that time our winners and runners-up will be announced. The world is also able to vote! On-line voting will be accepted for a Peoples’ Choice Winner!
