“It’s been an exciting year for Conemaugh Miners Medical Center. We added new technology and new physicians in our efforts to provide high-quality care close to home. We know Conemaugh Miners is an important part of the community, and we are excited about the future.”

CONEMAUGH MINERS MEDICAL CENTER has been serving residents of southwestern Pennsylvania for more than 100 years. Delivering quality health care close to home is the single most important contribution we make. But there are many other ways we make a positive impact on the communities we serve. Here are a few of the ways we are making a difference.

Last year, Conemaugh Miners Medical Center delivered nearly $600,000 in services to individuals without the ability to pay for their care.

New physicians During the past year, Conemaugh Miners welcomed Dr. Stanley Zagorski to the team. He is providing surgery and gastrointestinal services for patients in the Northern Cambria region. Several new emergency room physicians also joined the Miners staff.

“Charity and other uncompensated care” includes hospital costs not covered by Medicaid reimbursements and supplemental payments, as well as charity care and bad debt. “Physician recruitment costs” include recruitment costs and support of new physicians’ initial practice establishment in the community. Payroll includes consolidated salaries, wages, benefits and contract labor costs. “Capital investments” include facility expansions/renovations, equipment purchases, technology replacement, information technology additions/updates, and routine facility upkeep and maintenance.
