OTEGA is a complete nonprofit organization run by students in high school. OTEGA is simply a collection of pictures as references to the current fash-ion. We do not own the photos used in the magazine nor do we own the

work of the photographer in any way. OTEGA has no association with any of the pictures and or designers and work inside the online publication. Be-ing a nonprofit and non published magazine, copyright issues don’t apply. OTEGA is completely for the fun of creating an online magazine. OTEGA also has no association with any school or any other organization. Credit

to where the pictures are taken from are given both in the back of the book and next to each picture, just so readers understand where the pictures

came from.

Letter from the EditorDear Reader, I’d like to start off by saying thank you for even open-ing this document and beginning to read this magazine we have worked so hard to put out. This has been a dream of mine for a long time, to one day run a fashion magazine. I am only 16 and I’ve accomplished the task. My team and I love doing what we do and we wouldn’t be anywhere without readers and circulation, so again thank you. Some-thing you have to remember is that we do not own anything inside this except for the website itself and the stories we write about. All the other pictures and designs are not our work. Being a nonprofit magazine, and with little to any resources or connections, we do use shots and information from other publications to be able to create our book, otherwise it would be picture less and that’s no fun to read. Something you will notice that is different about OTEGA is that we have no ads. When I was dreaming about OTEGA when I was younger, I remember wanting there to be something so different about my magazine that it would really rock the seats of the current company owners and the people in charge of the other magazines. The only thing I could ever think of that would be so different other than making the magazine oblong, is to have no ads in the book what so ever. The only way to accomplish that is to be a com-pletely nonprofit book. We on staff though aren’t in it for money obviously, it’s just be-cause we love doing what we do here. The first time I got the idea for OTEGA was when I was about 12 when my Aunt Laura actually asked me then what I wanted to do when I grew up and the only thing I ever really had on my mind was owning and running a fashion magazine, so I answered with that. She of course told me to keep dreaming and if I put my mind to it, I could do it. Well, I did it, and I’d like to just say thank you Aunt Laura for believing in this dream of mine, everyone else at that time just basically said “good luck kid”. This book isn’t just about what’s in and what’s out, it’s about how life is always changing sometimes for the good, and other times for the bad. Fashion isn’t just about the looks; it’s about how it makes you feel. It’s about how it makes people around you feel, and how you get treated. Fashion is the beginning to how you portray yourself to the outside world. It’s truly your way as an individual to tell the world who you are, one look, at a time. This is our first issue and I greatly appreciate your reading and hopefully you love it as much as we love making it. –Cole McCarthy Editor In Chief

Layers have been in style for many years now. They are a great way to show off your personality and sense of style. Sometimes layer-

ing can be a hassle and can make you look large in size even though you aren’t and nobody wants that. A great way to put lay-ers to work is pairing it with a light bottom, for example a maxi skirt. It is perfect for this weather, cold mornings and cozy after-noons. It’s a win win situation with layer-ing because you are never to hot or to cold when it comes to the dramatically changing weather forecasts. Adding a pop of color to your neu-tral colored outfit can give you an interest-ing flair and flatter you body. Another eye catching way to layer clothing is to simply put a denim jacket under a winter coat and mix up textures; it’ll sure show off your great sense of style. You don’t just have to layer the upper half of you body, you can also add some ex-tra oomph to your lower region by wearing wool leggings, cozy camp socks, and lined boots. -Natalie Somekh

neutral colors

008 NEUTRAL COLORS OTEGA

For most of us this holiday season we are starting to get into the very colorful and patterned look. This holiday season the IN is to really kind of stay away from

those popping colors and stick to the pasetls and the neutral colors. With layering in most places and most outfits with the cool breezy weather, neutral colors like biege, black, tan, white, gray and baby blues are a great way to show off the sense of style. The dark colors in the Denim Boot cut jeans this season is a for sure way to start or finish an outfit. You can build arond them with a simple black pea coat with a pastel blue scarf and a pair of dark chocolate brown distressed leather boots. The woman to the right is sporting a old fashioned yet very high fashion and truly coming back dotted collar long sleeve, which is under a long black sweater which sticks with the neutral solid colors. The pants are the a close to neutral color and are elastic at the waist and the at the ankles for an esay and comfortable fit with still retaining it’s fashion sense with the material that is used on the legs. Bags are bulky, big, leather and dark colors are defiantly in this holiday season.

fashion for the unfashionable

Do you ever find yourself on the verge of being broke and not able to buy the newest fashion trend? Do you have tons of clothes that you never wear? For-

tunately you can make the old new!How to make a turban Headband:You’ll need:1. Knit Fabric(or old t-shirt)2. Matching Thread

Cut two strips of the fabric that are double the final width you want your headband to be.

2.Fold each strip in half(with right sides fac-ing) and sew down the long side of raw edges. Flip right side out. Now you will have two “tubes”.

3. Lay out tubes (seam sides up) in the shape of an “X”.

4. Fold strips over so that they are linked together, matching up the raw edges.

Fashion being not just about the way you look in it but the way that you feel when you are in the fasion is that most important part of the fashion world, at least to this magazine. To me its about the stuff that makes you feel comfort-able and makes you feel specail to some and to others just make them feel as

if they fit in. This holiday season we are pushing a very comfortable look, with sweats being acceptable with the uggs and more layers. People like things that really make them feel comfortable and look fashionable. There are a lot of fashion choices this holiday for comfortable wear. I latley personally have been going straight to my sweats for daily wear since they are the most comfortable pants I own. Sometimes it isn’t exactly how you look to others but how you look to yourself.

Sweaters that are coming back are the print and knit for men. A lot of the upcom-ing designs are for those things that used to be in fashion in the 70’s. It started coming back a few years ago when the ankle warmers started coming back for women and the mens rolled up jeans really was making a come back. Now the

ultimate come back is happening with the what I reffer to the “ugly christmas sweaters”. They are sweaters with designs that ae large, normally wrap around the whole thing and they include diamonds, squares, traingles and a lot of strange color matching as show above with the third in from the left.
