OST 284 Emerging Technologies Final Examby Erin Wilborn
Favorite Technologies:Twitter• I like Twitter because it’s
a great place to socialize without the friend drama on Facebook.
• It’s a nice way to just follow people and see what they are up to without interaction if you so choose.
• I like just being able to follow people and not having people follow me. It’s so much easier to be myself without worrying about who is looking.
GoogleDocs• I love Google Docs
because it is so easy to share documents.
• This wasn’t the first time using it, but I was glad to again because the whole concept is so useful and fun.
• I can definitely see myself using Google Docs in the future as an Administrative Assistant.
Wordle• Wordle was so much fun
to use. I’m an artistic person, so I can definitely see it’s potential.
• I would love to make shirts with Wordle. I can see so many possibilities with different themes and different purposes.
• I like to read, I like words, I like crafts and art. All these things are combined in Wordle and that’s why I will be using it again.
Sumopaint• Sumopaint is one of my
new favorite sites. I’m always looking for artistic outlets and this site is awesome.
• Creating designs is so easy and fun to do. I can spend hours working with all the different types of techniques.
• I would love to be able to use this site in the future for work. Possibly creating a company design for a logo.
WolframAlpha• I like Wolfram Alpha
because it’s so easy to look up any information
• It gives so much information about one topic, in one place, that it beats Google by a long shot.
• I can use this for unlimited searches for future companies and anything else I need.
Least Favorite Technologies:Delicious
• Delicious is alright for what it is but I just don’t care for social bookmarking.
• The whole process just seems too complicated for me and I would much rather stick to the old way of bookmarking that I know.
• I also don’t like the social aspect of Delicious. You can see what other people have tagged, but I would just as well keep my bookmarks to myself.
Blogger
• Blogger is great for those who like sharing information online, but that’s just not for me.
• I found it difficult to get things the way I wanted on my blog page.
• I didn’t like the limited choices on design or layouts either. In some areas it offered too much and in others, not enough.
GoogleReader
• Google Reader is too complicated for me to handle. I never understood the feed reader applications.
• Not only did I not understand how it works, but the application didn’t interest me anyway.
• I don’t really care for getting notifications about new posts and such. I don’t follow that many things, so Google Reader is just a program that I don’t see myself using in the future.
Newseum
• I can see that Newseum is a fine source for the news, but I don’t follow the news very much, so the site really has no use for me.
• The navigation around the page also seems a little hard to follow.
• It would also be nice to have a translation for those papers in different languages available.
Flickr
• I didn’t like Flickr because it was frustrating at times, especially when finding the geotag.
• Flickr is also a social network, which means that your pictures can be seen by anyone.
• I don’t see myself using Flickr very much either because I don’t take a lot of pictures.
