The fourth grader was the youngest

among Mrs. Obama’s 23 State of the Union guests, who “represent the stories of millions of Americans across the country, who are working hard to better their communities, improve their own economic outcomes and help restore opportunity for all,” the White House said.Thanks to her winning recipe,

“Yummy Eggplant Lasagna Rolls,” Arzola-Piñero was honored by Mrs. Obama at last summer’s Kids’ State Dinner, along with 53 other chef-winners ages 8-12. In the months since, Arzola-Piñero has become an ambassador for the Let’s Move!“Aliana has worked hard to translate

age two, and is an “avid reader and gymnast,” the White House said. Wednesday, January 29, the Education Foundation of Osceola County hosted the Osceola County School District’s 2014 State of Education address at the Osceola County School for the Arts. Osceola County business leaders joined Superintendent Melba Luciano and key members of the Osceola County School District Leadership team for a presentation on progress being made and challenges on current key issues concerning Osceola education. Kathleen Plinske, President of Valencia College - Osceola Campus, was the keynote speaker and gave a brief update on the Lake Nona and Osceola Campuses. Superintendent Melba Luciano spoke

about the changes and advances that

have been made in Osceola County. Luciano stated the adjustments that were made this year, she announced that BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) has been implemented District wide, and that fortunately, students have benefited by the technology being used in the classroom. Luciano also emphasized the importance of professional development, student engagement and progress monitoring. “We want our children to be critical thinkers and problem solvers”, said Luciano.Also, Superintendent Luciano was

content to say that the graduation rate for High School Seniors has improved in Osceola County from 77.5% in 2012, to 78.6% in 2013. She emphasized that attendance is a major factor in graduation rates increasing. She said, “Due to recent studies, students who miss 10% which is equivalent to 18

colors at different stations located in front of the Civic Center, the Clerk Court, and other points around the route that covered Downtown Kissimmee. It was a crazy way to share the morning with friends and family. Kids were allowed to participate too. The run was not timed, so there was no pressure to hurry and get it

done. At the end of the race the vivid masterpieces gathered to hear music and have more paint splashed on them.

Kissimmee, FL - On Friday, January 23, Florida Technical College (FTC) celebrated its fourth graduation ceremony at its Kissimmee campus. With the motto “All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them” from Walt Disney, 270 students join the 998 Kissimmee alumni and a grand total of 15,559 alumni that have graduated from the Florida Technical College campuses over its 32 years of existence.Dr. Antonia Coello Novello was

featured as guest speaker and was introduced by FTC President David Ruggieri. Among the guests attending were Lt. General Samuel Ebbesen, who is the new executive president

of EDUK and of Florida Technical College’s senior leadership team; Dr. David Penn, provost; Dr. Karen White, placement vice-president, and Mike Zuccheri, operations vice-president, among others.The ceremony was full of emotion

and pride for the students and for the family members that were at the event. 2014 Home Run Derby

Kissimmee, FL - El Representante Ricardo Rangel, funcionarios locales, líderes comunitarios y celebridades del béisbol participaron en un derby de jonrones y jugaron contra el equipo de fútbol All American Women’s Sport Association (AAWSA) el pasado sábado, 25 de enero en el campo de béisbol de la Escuela Superior de Osceola.

El juego patrocinado por organizaciones locales sirvió fue un beneficio para recaudar fondos para los programas de béisbol de las escuelas superiornes Osceola y Gateway. El ex jugador de Grandes Ligas Mike Rivera y Wil Nieves de los Phillies de Filadelfia tuvieron una participación especial en el juego.

Ricardo Rangel, local officials, community leaders and baseball celebrities participated in a home run derby and played against the All American Women’s Sport Association (AAWSA) softball team last Saturday, January 25th at the Osceola High School Baseball Field.

The game was a fundraising benefit for the baseball programs at Osceola and Gateway High Schools sponsored by local organizations. Former Major League Baseball player Mike Rivera and Wil Nieves of the Philadelphia Phillies made a special appearance at the game.

Trabaja en el área ecuestre desde sus primeros años, lo que le ha permitido adquirir experiencia con algunos de los mejores jinetes y entrenadores de Europa, y ahora está listo para mostrar sus habilidades y destrezas por primera vez en los EE.UU y Kissimmee fue seleccionada para comenzar la gira de “The Gala of the Royal Horses”.

for the last 7 months getting ready for the show,” said Rene Gasser, who always traveled to where ever the horses are. The show features breed horses like the Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner and Arabian. “We had so many beautiful horses in the show and one of our superstars is from Spain. His name is Gerano,” and added that all the horses are capable of dance flamenco. “When Gerano hears the music is something amazing… watches that horse dancing is like therapy, he heals you; if you are sad you smile.”At the show will be performing 15

magnificent horses will be performing during two hours, along with dancers and other participants. One of the acts has 6 horses together doing movements like the capriole, the courbette, and the levade, learned by the horses during their Dressage time (Training). Winter park, FL - Last Sunday, January 26, Kids Beating Cancer celebrated its “A Spoonful of Sugar” unique event, at The Alfond Inn in Winter Park. The event consisted of a High Tea and Fashion Show, which revisited the bygone era when women wore their finest hats, gloves and pearls to a classic afternoon affair.

A group of distinguished ladies from Kissimmee and Orlando enjoyed a white glove service of savouries and sweets while viewing a presentation of beautiful spring fashions from Orlando’s finest. Dr. Francelis Gonzalez, CEO of Kidsville Pediatrics sponsored one of the tables. Kids Beating Cancer was created in

County Sheriff’s detectives need the public’s help in identifying an individual involved in a suspicious incident. On January 25, deputies responded to Publix Supermarket located at 8301 ChampionsGate Boulevard in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with an adult female who indicated at approximately 7:30 p.m. she was in the parking lot when

an unknown male driving a white minivan approached her and asked for directions. The male kept asking questions and even complimented her on the car she was driving. The male then opened his driver door which startled the female so she drove away. As she was driving away, she turned her head and noticed the male was starting to stand up and he was partially clothed inappropriately touching himself. The male drove

through the McDonald’s parking lot and traveled down South Goodman Road.

The driver is described as a white male in his 30’s. He was clean shaven with short to balding blonde hair and pale skin. He had a somewhat large build with a round face and he was wearing a t-shirt, it is unknown what color. He was driving a new model white minivan.

If these two players will be leading the way for Orlando’s future

then that future sure looks bright. Afflalo, 23 points, and Nelson, 22 points, played key roles for the Magic in their 114 to 105 victory over LA. Kyle O’Quinn had another big game a plus nine player efficiency rating. O’Quinn is starting to look more and more comfortable on the court in Vucevic’s absence. But consistency is key.The Magic left Orlando for a mini

road trip. First stop was New Orleans to play the Pelicans. Orlando’s bench will need to be more efficient if they want to make winning a regular thing. Aside from New Orleans outrebounding Orlando and drawing more fouls to get the free throw attempts, all five of their players who came off the bench contributed. For the Magic, Moe Harkless played for

ten minutes and had one rebound and two points while O’Quinn got worked in the paint. New Orleans’ reserves outscored Orlando’s 42 to 8 in the 100 to 92 victory over Orlando. If I could un-watch the next two

games I would. If you happened to have watched then I feel your pain and sorrow. The Detroit Pistons were able to finish

the game with 17 offensive rebounds of which 12 came from the first half. They were able to out-rebound the Magic 56 to 40. Harris and Afflalo each finished with 14 points, Nelson added 11 and Oladipo put up 19. But the 87 to 103 loss is one I’d like to move past. The last stop on this mini road trip

They took a 13 point lead by the end of the first quarter and by half it was 55 to 40. The fifteen point lead was held for the duration of the game. It can’t be a good thing

when your leading scorer is your center who is just coming back from a concussion. The game ended with a 98 to 83 Toronto win. The Magic hold an NBA worst record

for playing on the road with 3 and 21. They have not won a road game since December 16 against Chicago but there is still plenty more games to be played. Victor Oladipo has been selected

to play in the All-Star Rising Stars Challenge in New Orleans on February 14. Arron Afflalo will be joining the East to play in the All Star game as a reserve. That break is much needed for this

team. It’s also right before the trade deadline. Rumored trade perspectives for the Magic are, of course, Glen Davis and Jameer Nelson. They make the most sense. It is rebuilding time and time to let some vets go. The Magic host the Milwaukee Bucks tonight before taking a quick trip to the North to play Boston and Indiana.
